Hello, I would like to hear some opinion on Creo Unite and experiences if someone have.
I used Open and Import possibilities in Creo to open SolidWorks assembly files and assemble it in top level assembly. So when using open it stay in native (SW) form and in behind Creo make wrapper files which we can see on local folders (*SLDASM.creo, *SLDPRT.creo) but not on windchill. When using import it creates links to original SolidWorks files and save it in native Creo files with .asm and .prt formats. So what are better features in case of updating that SW files when someone send it to us, to use Open or Import. As i could see so far both have capabilities of updating when you overwrite newly SW assemblies in a local folder or checking in new version in Windchill. We even tested Open and Import with inseparable assemblies , so we received SW files with virtual components (inseparable or embedded in Creo), and Creo understood that well. So considering performance , that imported components slowed down user experience in opening assemblies even if they are embedded they look heavy so we needed to use simplified reps to excluded them. So another mention to avoid Import and stick to Open is to avoid need of giving Windchill part numbers to Creo imported file and SW file , seems better to use just original SW file with Windchill part number. And one more thing when finally exporting File->Save as->*.sldasm, export doesn't recognize inseparable assemblies of some components so it extracts 600 files from some purchase element so it seems better to not export that directly to SolidWorks (is there some workaround).
So considering all this i would like to hear some opinions from experienced users of Creo and PDM, what are the right approach to this Creo - SolidWorks collaboration.
*Honorable mention , that SW assemblies have a lot Assembly cuts and on some parts i get at the end of name <name.sldprt>[intersected], don't know what that mean but i get server warning (if someone knows cause). And also a lot of parts which are probably made using some sort of flexible modeling inside SW that are named copied Body , Moved Body, Sweep Body...
