ProjectLink, Downloading Multiple Files

Is it possible to download multiple files simultaneously? The scenario: a user will be traveling and needs to work on thier files while internet access is not available.Do they need to download each file individually or is there a way to create a package or list of files that can be downloaed as a set?

Not sure if this helps but if you can select them in a container then you can create a zip file of those documents by clicking on File->Download Documents to Compressed File.

Another method: temporarily create another document and add all these to it using Document Structure, then for the top level temporary document, select Download all files.

It is possible in Windchill 9.1 to create "packages" if your administrator has enabled them 🙂

Packages allow a collection of items to be zipped and downloaded/sent.

Guidelines should be put into place for how/when this functionality should be used.

Hi Carl

One of the viable options is using OOTB Package. You can create a package
and add the documents to the package. Upon locking the package, you can
create a zip file for the documents contents.



If you are looking for a custom solution, we do have a add-on module for
downloading the contents based on a flat file. Summarize the document
numbers and versions in a flat file, choose upload the flat file, choose the
state. You will be prompted for saving/opening the compressed files. Please
find the attached document for functional details.

Look into a Portable Workspace. It can be compressed and password protected from within ProE and then put on a thumb drive or other media.

User connects to it outside of PDMLink and then re-compresses and sends back to originator. Changed data slides back into PDMLink nicely.

Please consider Plot Service for Windchill (PSW), from Etrage LLC, to
download multiple files simultaneously.



Parts, assemblies and drawings, managed by Windchill, can be downloaded to a
local or network directory in a Batch mode by creating a list of models or
through an On-Demand Web Access mode where a user can search for and select
models for download. Models in either mode can be downloaded with their
dependent files. Also there is an option to Zip the files if that is
needed.
