Windchill

We are exploring implementing effectivity on the PLM side in 10.2.  I have a working knowledge of date base effectivity but reading the PTC supplied material, its lacking the depth I need. The UI also supports very advanced concepts. Beyond the global effectivity, I get the context based effectivity.  I see also that it supports bounded range effectivity and multiple entries per item. Is there some uniqueness checks or invalid conditions say if I try to overlap date ranges or make if valid for December then February?  If a effectivity for Rev B is set open ended, does the release of Rev C cap the end of that effectivity?  I could go on but if anyone has a good set of docs or experience with this functionality.

Hi, We're using Windchill 10.2. As a part of upgrading to 11.0, we're testing it in a test environment. 3 servers are configured as following in the same order as listed below; Oracle 11.2.0.4 and Windchill Directory Server are installed and configured in server WCDbSrv.company.com Business Reporting is installed in server WCBusRptSrv.company.com Windchill 11.0 M030 solution is to be installed in WCAppSrv.company.com. This task generates error as in below screenshot. I'm also attaching the log files mentioned in the error. Please help identifying the cause of error.   Thank you

I am using radio buttons with few values.   By default Windchill11 allows only vertical layout. Means if there are many values, it will be a long list as well I need many attributes that need radio buttons. Result is the long-long page.   Kindly see the attached image that explains what I want.  Even better would be grid as it can take-up more values.   Thank you for your replies..   - Ravi 

Hi, I have a requirement wherein I need to start a Windows application (E.g. Notepad/PDF Reader) to open a file downloaded from Windchill on the client machine automatically from the code that would be running on the Method server. It would trigger from a Windchill UI action. As of now, I am not able to figure out how to get the client machine Runtime information to handle such a scenario. Or is there some other way to achieve this in Windchill? Any clue/suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks! .

Hi all,   I'm curious what kind of procedures others have implemented when utilising ProjectLink for sharing data for contractor / external engineering to work on.   We've instructed them to check in everything at the end of the day to make sure the latest is always available in the common space of the Project as we've understood that even for admin it is difficult to Access workspaces' content, but this of course creates a lot of iterations & data files. We've disabled publish for CAD model and drawings in Project and do this only manually when needed (however considering to turn on again the automatic for the drawings. When "Send to PDM" is done this publish is usually enough, despite the fact that there's issues with it not triggering correctly... PTC case opened.)   How would you go about it?

Hello, In Windchill 11, the standard action "checkout" an EPMDocument using I.E or FireFox, opens by default workspace and not the working copy.   Could you please know which change needed to open automaticly the working copy after the EPMDocument  checkout  ?    Thank you.

There may be more than one way to find this out, but I'm looking for the most straight-forward, simplest method for determining the number of items (Documents, CAD docs, etc.) in my Windchill filestore (including all revisions and iterations).  We're currently running Windchill PDMLink 10.2 M030 CPS13. Hi,   Normally we export oracle database using expdp command. consider Windchill having 3 Organization(Org A,Org B and Org C) are present under site.   is it possible to export oracle data only for Org A ?   Regards, Vivek

I have a situation where I need to know whether the user chose an approve or reject task option in a standard Review workflow task.  I plan to use the complete transition in the task to place my code.  I need to test the value before the task goes away so I make the system take the proper action.  For example, let's say three people were in the review.  If the first reviewer says approve, then I want the task to call custom code x.  If the next reviewer rejects then I want the task to call custom code y.  The same for the third user and so forth. Simplistically I need the task to do this: get the task vote if vote equals approve     call approval code else     call reject code ===== There plenty of examples on how to use tally for obtaining all the votes for a given review but there isn't an example for how to look at the vote of the task in hand.   Any suggestions?

Issue: Windchill SolidWorks Publisher prints BLANK representations Windchill 11 -  Solid Works Premium 2016 x64 SP 5.0   When publishing .slddrw files in Windchill, the representations are now coming out blank. This WAS working. Not sure what has changed. We did add some additional file types...see additional_file_type_publishrule.xml below.   A normal slddrw as show in _SLDDRW.JPG - this is just how it looks in Solidworks then it turns into the visualization shown in _blankoutput.jpg   NOTE: you can see the title block and some of the call outs (circled in red) appear in the visualization, but nothing else. Already looked into the following: CS48758 and CS111431 - not sure if either are related. Didn't seem to be. Hi , I am using below components after referring Navigate Support Matrix document: Thingworx 8.0.1 H2, Thingworx Utilities 8.0.1, Windchill Extension 1.7, Navigate Framework 1.4.1 Windchill 11.0 M030 Note: I have successfully installed patch WCTWXExtension in windchill, I have imported every component and extension without any error as mentioned in guide "Thinworx Navigate Installation and Configuration guide".   I am getting error when I am trying to test the connection by running Validate Connection service in ptc-windchill-integration-connector. ​I am getting status as Failed ​and I am getting some error in application log. I have attached log file. Can anyone guide/help me with this?  

Hi, I am attempting to match what we do in windchill to our business process. At development and prototype states the revisions should be Numeric. Once the objects are promoted to pre-production or production the revisions should become Alpha. I have configured for state based versioning and all looks quite positive so far, I then noticed that when i promote to pre-production from the earlier state the revision remains at Numeric until the item is revised. Also if I promote to Production without revising in pre-production this will also appear as Numeric rev until a revise has been done.   Is there a method I can use that will promote and change the revision scheme in one step?

Hi All,   I wish to customize a functionality in Windchill likewise to create a dynamic drop down list.    If a user selects Value A in the Attribute A drop down list , Attribute B list should be populated dynamically.   Likewise if Value B is selected in Attribute A again the Attribute B list should change and another list of values should get populated dynamically.   Can you all please let me know like how it is done or possible. Curious to know if people are running Windchill 11.0 exclusively with Performance Advisor or System Monitor or using them together. Any pros and cons to one or the other?

I know the latest matrix shows support for only Windows Server 2012, but was wondering if anyone has tried using 2016 and if so, were there any problems. Currently setting up a new server to test. We are getting pressure from our NASA to update all of our Windchill servers to 2016. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I have been looking for some time into how I reuse certain Parameters from windchill in my Excel or Word templates. I can easily see the majority of parameters and reuse these, however I would like to see who last modified the document. If I look at the windchill database it shows who last modified the file quite easily but I simply cannot get this into my documents. Please someone can you tell me the correct syntax to drive this into excel.  I have support with one of the main resellers and they are not making any headway on this for me.    the parameter appears on the windchill page as "Modified by"

Can a QuerySpec be case insensitive?  E.g.   qs = new QuerySpec(WTGroup.class); qs.appendWhere(new SearchCondition(WTGroup.class, WTGroup.NAME, SearchCondition.LIKE, "%"+searchValue), new int[]{0});   Would like to find myString by using "string" or "String" or "STRING" for searchValue above.   I am so sure I've read this somewhere........   Looked through the manuals, will go through again.....

Hi, I am trying to remove an existing effectivity context for a WTpart via code. As far as I have checked, there is no API to do so and have tried using PersistenceHelper.manager.delete(obj), but this throws an exception saying that the 'obj' is an effectivity context and hence cannot be deleted. So, I understand that I need to remove this 'obj' as an 'Effectivity context' from the related part but I don't know how to do that yet. Any clue/suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!
