Arbortext

I'm working on a file that uses the MIL-STD-3001 XML standard. When I open the file in Arbortext, it turns context rules off, telling me that an element is out of context.  Looking at the DTDs, that element is a valid child element of the parent that contains it.  Deactivating and reactivating the style sheet sometimes allows me to turn context rules back on, but the problem comes back when I open the file. Has anyone else had this experience?  Any troubleshooting tips?

  Greetings all,   In an effort to improve both content and change management within our technical publications. We’d like to know if there’s a way to map service parts to any service manual referencing that particular part/s? . That is to say if a specific bolt or nut Is used across 20+ products how can we link the respect service manual to that part via PDMLink or Service Information Manager? . Which extension or native feature of Windchill allows us to do this? Can we map service instructions and parts lists to that part, so that when a change is made, that change (whether a quantity change or the obsolescence of the part)  is reflected in that service manual’s service instructions and parts lists ?   Manuals will be authored, and published via Arbortext and the Publishing Engine.     Thanks,   -Steve 

Dear Users,If i start my pdf manual coverpage with "Even page" it is in turn creating a blank page in left.If i make it as "Odd Page" it works fine but disturbs my front of back coverpage.Is there a way to eliminate the blank page that is created sa first page followed by chapter page.Regards,SR

When I try to check out a topic in SDL publication manager using Author IT, I get the following error --[A31517] This installation of Arbortext Editor does not support the -styler command line argument.The topic checks out but does not open in Arbortext.

Would you help me with these customer questions on Arbortext IsoDrawCan we apply color gradient in Arbortext IsoDraw?Can we get layers when we open a .svg file in Arbortext IsoDraw?Also need to recheck if we save as .svg and if we open in IsoDraw whether we can see the layers?

One of our writers gets a Debug message every time she opens Arbortext Editor. The message is: Warning: Could not find the application's symbol font. It will not be possible to display certain symbols and icons. What does the message means? How come that only one user in our team get this message. All users use the same Arbortext version. /Anette

Hi,I have a FOSI for a document type which generates an LEP.The LEP is generated by outputting the relevant page info from the pagespecs I have defined and it works fine.However, what I don't have is any hotlink between the LEP entries and the matching pages.I tried setting  the 'hotlink' and 'status' attributes as I have for the TOC but to no effect.I am beginning to think this is a limitation of generating the LEP content from the page spec rather than from the elements in the content as I have done for the TOC.Does anybody know of a way to achieve hotlinks from the LEP entries?ThanksAdrian Jordin

I did a search and replace in multiple files in a text editor then when I opened the files in Arbortext I see line feeds after all of my elements and my tables will no longer display correctly is why this happening.?

  Greetings all,   My organization wants to implement better content management of technical publications. We are trying to implement the Abrotext Publishing Engine, and we’d like to if “possible” have changes to parts listed made in the PTC Windchill Product to reflect in technical manuals developed in Arbortext XML editor. By doing these we hope to keep technical manuals as current as possible. Is anyone currently doing this? and does anyone know how we can have changes made in Windchill reflect in the editor in an automated manner ?   

Dear Users,I have a issue on mapping tags from my source xml to the custom table definition in Styler. Pls see the attachment.The souce xml contains tags like thead , tr ,td which I am not sure how to associate to a  custom table. Whatever combination the assciation made does give me needed output.Output expected is to have a table with coloumn border (no column line so that table looks only with rows.) ps see attachment2 (output.jpg)Pls suggest.Regards,Sriram

We have created a few macros in IsoDraw that we have assigned to a toolbar with an icon. What causes this toolbar to stop working? We can still use the menu, macros, then choose our macro and it will run, but if you use the toolbar it does not respond.Bryon

We are using Creo Illustrate 3.0, accessing Windchill through Work Group Manager. When we start a new file we import from Windchill in order to maintain the link to the original PVZ file. However, when the PVZ file is changed based on engineering changing their files, our Creo Illustrate files does not update, nor prompts us that it's changed. This is very frustrating when I know the design intent is for the data to stay linked/related.Can anyone tell me what we may be doing wrong? Could it be something in Work Group Manager isn't set up correctly?Here's our General Loading setting for Creo Illustrate:

Dear Users,I am trying to insert graphics (customised image located in C:/XYZ/ABC.jpg) from the "Insert Graphics" in Styler -> Generated Content menu.But it throws a error "A61191" and does not show my customised image from custom directory. Dear Users.I have ToC and Index tables in place and it looks perfect. But the header of these pages are "Empty" for ToC and shows last chapter name for Index.I wish the header shows "TableOfContent" for ToC Page and "Index" for Index page . Guess it should be possible by creating new Page set for ToC and Index. But would be glad to learn of it is possible to show the header info without creating new Pagesets.Pls assist.Regards.Sriram Rammohan

I have attached a template for better understanding.The Coverpage should contains Header , Footer and the CenterContentPage. In the content page the need is to show 3 graphics in 3 different positions.1. How to position all the 3 graphics in the content region.2.
