Is there any tool for drawing text boxes that have outlines? Thanks in advance
I am looking for an ACL function that will do what the VB function instr() does, which searches one string to see if it contains another string; e.g., to see if "to" is in "Benton" (it is!).Anyone?
I've now dug through 17 PTC PDF manuals.Where in the world is an honest to goodness error log?It is bad enough the composer log window when it does give the line of the stylesheet where it hit an error, it doesn't tell you which XML file it was parsing at the time. I've got those cleaned up now BUT!I still have a multitude of errors that are just too vague to be useful (like "received fo:block when expected fo:root" with no code context at all).I've dug through the transaction archives file by file. I still don't know what to do with a .dat file even with all the PDF manuals.Shoot, I can't even get our Windows 2003 Server to show the Java Console! Finally get through IT and get some access to the server, but I still can't find a decent error log. Thanks again, guys...John T. I found a great thread here on scripting making a flat file which I plan to use to back up the doc as it grows to 3000 chapters - yesterday two of those chapters emptied themselves at 10:05 am - declarations at the top and dozens of pages just gone.My Question:I've created a simple instance.acl but can't get it to load and need help on where to put it:message "production/instance.acl found and read";if (! menu_exists ("BAE")) { menu_add -menu .Help "BAE"; menu_add .BAE. "Flatten This Doc" -cmd {flatten_this_doc();}; menu_add .BAE. " -separator; menu_add .BAE. "Rewrite Entity Declarations" -cmd {set writeentdecls=roottreerefchildnone; save_all_docs;};}It is in \custom\doctypes\production\instance.acl. I also tried \custom\doctypes\production.acl with the same results. Our doctype declaration:I've read your posts and the ACL Guide and understand where to put it, but not what to name the directory I guess. I've tried /xml/ and no luck. The PE itself uses /custom/doctypes/Production so I t
I'm off the standard JVM when running Editor 5.3. We use either:# Java VM Version 11.2-b01 -- Sun Microsystems Inc. set javavmpath= 'C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_12\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll';# Java VM Version 14.1-b02 -- Sun Microsystems Inc. set javavmpath= 'C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll';My results are the same for either version of the JVM.If anyone is interested in this esoteric problem, then I invite them to test on their platform (with the stock JVM shipped with their version) and report their results.I've been trying to take advantage of the Java method "File.createTempFile(...)" where the temporary file thus created can be flagged for automatic destruction upon the termination of the JVM by calling the "deleteOnExit()" method.Unfortunately, it appears this may not work in Windows due to two bugs. A work-around has been proposed at:machine, as defined by the Java Language Specification."I'm wondering what needs to be done to make the sample program below work.To
Hello Adepters,It's that time again. The deadline for submitting abstracts for the 2010 PTC/User World Event is this Friday. Even if you've never presented before, you should submit an abstract. Although the deadline is looming - this Friday! - putting together an abstract really isn't that much work. At this point, you just need an idea, not a fully developed presentation. And everybody has an interesting project to brag about or techniques to share.Presenting sounds intimidating, but it's not. It's fun, even. I first presented two years ago at the 2008 Event. It was my first time presenting at any conference of any kind, and it couldn't have been a better experience. By presenting, I learned more and talked more shop with other Arbortext users than I did during my first PTC/User, when I didn't present. Of course, I'm not really pitching this out of altruism. I want more Adepters to present because it makes PTC/User better, for me. PTC product demonstrations are great, but the real va
To all:We have two monitors that extend our desktops. In Arbortext Editor, the attribute dialog box always opens in the middle of the twomonitors. We have to move the dialog box over to edit it each time. Isthere a way to control the placement of the dialog box?Douglas
I've been trying to integrate javadoc for the AOM and DOM classes into my Eclipse (Galileo - Version: 3.5.1.R35x_... Eclipse IDE for Java Developers 1.2.1.20090918-0703) without success. When I select the properties for the referenced jars, aom.jar and w3cdom.jar, and try to point to the paths, e.g. C:\Program Files\Arbortext\Editor\docs\javadoc\aom, Eclipse complains: [warning icon] Location might be invalid. Files 'package-list' and 'index.html' that are typically available at the root of documentation created by the Javadoc tool have not been found.Though there is an index.html under C:\Program Files\Arbortext\Editor\docs\javadoc\aom, there is not a "package-list".I have also tried the URL:
Anyone have experience with creating indexes with the Army/LOGSA stylesheets?I've inserted a number of index refs that the DTD allows, but those are not the index tags Arbortext looks for...and I'm looking for a pointer on where to go from here.I'm assuming I'll have to write a parser and run it on a flattened book then add the PDF'd index pages later...but I'd sure prefer not to.Thanks in advance for pointing me to the starting line...
I am in the process of creating a new XSD Schema. I'm using the xsd:import option to import tags from other schemas we are currently using.Namespace prefixes are: ipc, mm, wmEverything is working great until i tried to insert a <mm:table> tag that is referenced in one of the imported schemas. It gives me the correct wrapper tag but when it hits the required <mm:tgroup> tag it gives me an internal error saying that that <ipc:tgroup> tag is out of context. It is reading the <ipc:tgroup> tag instead of the <mm:tgroup> tag. I have tried this using a different XML editor and it inserts the tags as expected.Any help to this matter would be greatly appreciated.sarah
Is anyone experiencing a display problem when using the lasso tool when selecting parts of drawings? We seem to have a weird display issue and it can be annoying.

Wonky!! My wife and 9-year-old used "wonky" to describe one of the Wii remotesover the holidays, and it's somehow become the word of the month. Sorry, I'm just now getting caught up to all the adepters postings...
Did something change on the server a couple of months ago that would make the Adepters list manager (or whatever the server software is called) not email an Adepters posting back to the originator? For some reason, for a while now I haven't been seeing my own posts on Adepters. I see any answeres to them, but not the original. Maybe it's some screwed-up Outlook setting or something, but I doubt it.
Is there a way in ACL to tell whether or not a given OID is a required element (by the DTD)? I can't find anything about it in the Help. Required attributes I can find, but required elements, no.
It's under threat of deletion as "not notable" and is really only astub. I'm not a writer, but added a little bit, mostly citations. I'dlike to enlist the rest of you to contribute content.
I'm tracking down problems with using the Army LOGSA v1.5 XML stylesheets in Arbortext 5.4 M020.I've tracked down a problem with the PE crashing on the tables stylesheet to a lack of an inherited table value. This happens in a couple of places with a couple different variables (rowsep and colsep that I know of so far). Can any of you see why $rowsep is losing its inherited value? The workaround at the moment is to give every single row a rowsep (ditto with colsep). Setting it in the table tag is not sufficient. Here is where it dies if rowsep = " with the error "Cannot convert string " to a double":<xsl:if test="(($frame" ==" 'all'=" or=" $frame="topbot" or=" $frame="bottom" )=" and=" $lastrow="0)" or=" <b=">$rowsep!=0"> Here's the code fragment that sets $rowsep followed by inherited.table.attribute template followed by get-attribute template <xsl:variable name="&lt;b">rowsep"> <xsl:call-template name="inherited.table.attribute"> <xsl:with-param name="e
I am trying to use Styler (5.3) with PE to atomically calculate this and plumb in the right amount of blank pages. To complicate things the blank pages are not the last pages in the book either. So I'm wondering if anyone out there has accomplished this task. I hear that 5.4 makes it easier to accomplish this but I can't switch at the current time. One last thing my stylersheet is xsl-fo.I asked this question a while back but the issue has come up again. I never really solved this before and would like to give it a go again. Thanks in advance and any help would be much appreciated.
can v6.x isodraw open v7.x files - completely or partially?
There's still some time to get your presentation ideas in. The conferencehas improved year-over-year since AUGI became PTC/User due in large part tothe folks who present and participate. Every year has been better than thelast. More people submitted presentations than the year before which wasmore than the year before that. The conference is the best place to connect with the others in thecommunity. If you're worried about travel budgets, submit an abstractanyway. Presenters attend free. Better to have the option later on. Come andtell us what challenges you had and what you did to solve them. Tell uswhat goals you had when you started and where you're going next. Please consider sending an abstract. We want to hear your story.---------- Forwarded message ----------From: PTC/USER World Event <">http://www.ptcuser.org/2010/registration.html><">http://www.ptcuser.org/2010/why.html><">http://www.ptcuser.org/2010/agenda.html><">http://www.ptcuser.org/2010/hota

I have some specialized DITA documenttypes. My starting point was to create a copy of the SMA Arbortext application and then create my own specialized bddocconcept, bddocreference, bddocbookmap etc. All DTD's are valid and creation of instances based on my bddoc DTD's is working correct. My problem is that if I drag a, for example, bddoccencept document inside a bddocbookmap the title and the type attributes are not filled. Also the Format attribute stay's empty. Futhermore: if I render the bookmap I get a error like &quot;Dita Reference &quot;xxx&quot; on topicrefelement in &quot;xxx.ditamap&quot; does not refer to refer to a dita/ditabase document. So I miss something, but what? Any ideas? Regards, Geurt
Hello all,I've got a bit of a problem, along with very little experience in Epic and wonder if anyone can help: The system I have uses Epic 5.1 with some java (and acl) customisations. I'm testing moving to version 5.3 and whereas the acl seems to work fine, the java doesn't seem to load. The java is in a sub directory of custom, but not custom/classes. The append_javaclass_path command with the location of the java is in the instance.acl file, so it should be picked up.As an example, this works in 5.1:$obj = java_constructor('GenerateId');$new_name=java_instance($obj, 'removeInternalTags', $name); but does not in 5.3. When I check I get the error [A30134] Cannot find the class GenerateId.All my classes were compiled using java 1.4 and I know Epic 5.3 uses 1.5, so I'm wondering if 5.3 can tell the classes were compiled using an older version of Java and therefore refusing to recognise them.Grasping at straws I'm thinking of recompiling everything using java 1.5 which will be a pain (for
hi allis there a way in arbortext editor (5.2 windows) to insert or change absolute graphic paths to relative ones?when we access graphics that are in a subfolder of the document, we get realtive paths. but we have to insert relative paths to access graphics in a folder structure like + project + documents + imagesso the path for a graphic should be ..\images\graphic.gif. arbortext editor inserts always an absolute path. since graphic_relative_path needs an absolute path to convert paths and there is always a different absolute path to graphics.any help is appreciated.frank
