Hello Everyone, I work in IT support and a user came to me with an arbortext issue for me to troubleshoot. Im new to this job and extremely new to arbortext. He needs to open an XML file and a DTD file together. when opening either of the files no matter the order, Arbortext gives an error that it cannot parse the DTD/XML File. The DTD file specifically produces the error "Invalid Schema/DTD File". The error is related to XML compliance and i have no idea how to fix it.    ive searched around quite a bit and found this possible solution -  "Click on Cancel and choose Tools > Compile Document Type to compile your document type and use your existing document type with the parsing rules used in previous versions of ArbortextEditor"   We are using Servgistics arbortext, im not sure if thats something different then that article was referencing but there is no "Compile Document Type" under tools on the top bar.   Sorry

I am having a problem getting the page numbering to work in my document. The first few pageblocks in my document need to start page numbering at 1. The remaining page blocks have numbering schemes that start at 1000, 3000, 4000, etc. I created conditions to assign the correct page sets at the different page block elements, and set the page number to start according to a pgblknbr attribute (1000, 3000, etc.). However, the page numbering for the entire document uses the attribute number from the last condition, so if the last condition checked returns 3000, all of my pageblocks start with page 3000 instead of the attribute value for that particular page block. I'm not sure if I'm making a mistake in the way that I'm trying to assigning the page number or if I need to use something outside of the basic capabilities of Styler to get the numbering to work.

I am using arbortext styler to create pdfs. I am having a problem with controlling the page numbers. The first fews page sets have normal numbering (1,2,3...ect.), but then the format switches to 1001,1002...ect. When I switch the start at value for the page number to 1001 in this section, the entire document starts at that number, which is not what I want. Does anyone have any advice on how to control the page numbering throughout the document? -Thanks

I have two questions about adding generated text numbering to documents. 1.) What is causing the ability to add numbering to an element to be turned off? 2.) How to I continue a numbering scheme so that it runs through two different elements (paragraphs and titles)?   I'm in the process of converting FOSI files for different document types into Stylesheets. The FOSI supports numbering in the different section titles. When I open the Generated Text category for a title in my converted Stylesheet has Numbers and bullets greyed out, so I cannot add numbering schemes to the titles. Some of the titles that I can add inside of a section allow numbering, but that numbering doesn't follow the order of the numbering added to the paragraphs before and after the title element, so I'll have paragraphs 1, 2, 3 and then title 1 and then paragraphs 4, 5, 6, etc.   I've been able to add the numbering schemes to elements that wrap the title and the paragraph to get the numbering to work. Hello everyone, I'm fighting my way through the conversion of our legacy FOSIs into stylesheets. The canned numbering capabilities provided by Styler aren't working out for me.   I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to get a the lettered generated text from a previous element and increment it for the current element using the XPath Override in the Number Details screen. I'm using an ATA DTD that wraps paragraph elements and title elements inside of two other elements. I changed the title element to have block formatting so that I can add numbering to it, but now I'm running into problems when I try to use the Restart functionality in Styler. How do I tell ArborText Styler where the HTML Help Compiler (hhc.exe) is located? In Styler, when I select Preview > HTML Web Help, I receive this error: "The HTML Help Compiler is not installed." It is absolutely installed on my computer.

If I open a map, and click along the tree. I press enter and I get a list of elements that I can insert. What defines the list, is it the techinfo.xsd file? How do I add or hide elements? I am looking specifically at adding the appendix element. I have looked in the default stylesheet and it is an element that is listed in there.   Thanks Bryon    

Hey everybody.   Our Arbortext plugin highlights potential errors in the text with color. But this introduces a lot of unwanted "_font" tags into the document view. We can hide those manually by looking at the document's DCF and adding this: <ElementDisplay element="_font" fullTagModeDisplay="none" partialTagModeDisplay="none"/>   Please advise if there is a chance to do the same temporarily&safely from the plugin's code? Looking for some guidance in ACL or Java.   thank you.

Hi there, I'm using Arbortext Editor 8.0. According to the documentation at https://support.ptc.com/help/arbortext/r8.0.0.0/en/Program/acl_ref/help2141.html#, "goto_oid does not reposition the screen when moving the cursor". But in reality it does reposition the screen. For example, if I use goto_oid(oid_last()), it scrolls to the bottom. Is the documentation inaccurate? Is there a way to move the cursor without repositioning the screen? Thanks!

Just wondering if they work through a remote desktop connection. Currently we have mostly node locked licenses and cannot open the programs through a remote session.   Bryon

The wheel scroll zooming feature quit working, in IsoDraw 7.3. It has been working, as expected, until recently. It works fine, in other PTC applications, I.E. Creo Illustrate and Creo View. I am running Windows 10. I have followed the recommendations to turn off "Scroll inactive windows..." with no results.

If possible, Please add features like creating Tables in IsoDraw it would be very grateful.   Anil.

When we create the list of revisions it is not always in order. We manually publish the pdf and adjust the table accordingly, by looking at the pdf to see what the page number is. Looking for a better method.   My thoughts are either have a script that when the document is open it checks the xrefs in the first column against the ditamap, and copy's and pastes the row in a new table at the bottom of the document in the correct order.   Or a script were have to publish the pdf once to get the page number, enter it in a comment.   Thanks Bryon

Hello, I've been tasked with adding a note to a page that displays in the header of a pageset.  Everything was implemented and works, except that now the header size can be various heights, if the note is long enough. Previously the header was hard set to a certain height so that the content inside the tag would start immediately after the header. But now that the size of the header can be changed depending on what the document writer puts, this no longer works. Is there a way to set a header to be dynamic in height so that rather it's 1 or 3 lines the following content will start relative to this new header height?   We're using Arbortext 7.1 fosi.

Hi there, I'm researching if/how you can schedule a publishing job through the publishing engine.    For example, Someone has a really large document that takes hours to publish, we would like to able to hold off on publishing these until say 9:00 pm when everyone's left the office.    I've been looking through some documentation I found online and if i'm understanding it correctly, it looks like it needs to be custom made with Java. 

Hello, I find that when tag templates are created, they are saved to my local drive. Has anyone found a way of using them to single source for an entire department? Thanks.
