Does anyone know of a way to keep your title tag for a subpara but not have what is entered into the title tag appear in the ToC. Please help! Thanks.
We have a large PDF with bookmarks that the client wants to break up into a separate PDF for each volume. It is created through one XML assembly file that callsall theother entity files. I'm not exactly sure how to do this other than to break up the one assembly file into a separate assembly file for each volume. They've tried extracting the volumes from the PDF itself but the bookmarks disappear. Any suggestions are welcome. (Version 6.0, FOSI)
Hi all,I am trying to use compose::compose_using_xsl( ) in Arbortext Editor 6.0 F000 to transform JATS 1.0 XML to NLM 2.2 XML. My XSLT 2.0 script was developed and runs exactly as intended in Oxygen using Saxon-PE 9.0.3.5 with no errors. When I run it using compose_using_xls() on a valid JATS instance, however, I am getting a return value of -1 and am seeing the following in the Event Log: <record date="Thu" dec=" 11=" 10:29:11=" est=" 2014&quot;=" millis="1418311751648" severity="info" suppress="1"> <level>INFO</level> <message>"file_serializer": Set buffering to off and flushing on pipe # "1".</message> <context class="com.arbortext.epic.internal.compose.FilterContainerImpl" linenumber="271"&lt;br"/> method="endDocument" systemId="FilterContainerImpl.java"/> </record> <record date="Thu" dec=" 11=" 10:29:11=" est=" 2014&quot;=" millis="1418311751715" severity="fatal" suppress="0"> <level>FATAL ERROR</level> <
I'm forwarding the email below from a friend, who has some insightful observations and advice about the PTC FOSI retirement notice.Hi Jack,Although I left PTC/Arbortext several years ago, ... I do have some advice to offer. I'd be happy if you shared my advice with the community without attributing that advice to me. So here goes...Product managers continually deal with the problem of when to drop support, whether they're talking about a specific version of an O/S (such as Windows XP), a platform (such as Unix), or a product (such as the FOSI engine).Sometimes the best way to gauge the impact is to announce the end of support and listen for the screams. I think you should assume that PTC will react if the screams are loud enough. While the revenue from Arbortext products is a small part of PTC's total revenue, there are quite a few VERY important PTC customers who have bought into everything PTC from Creo and Windchill to Arbortext (e.g., Caterpillar, John Deere, Boeing, and plenty of o
I use an xpath expression in a locrule to store document objects in a variable folder path location. I want to store graphic objects in the same folder as the parent document. But I get an error that says you cannot use xpath when sourcetype=graphic. Is there a way to do this?
I just read about PTC's plans for FOSI retirement-see below. The news came to me on Friday in "(Updated) - 2014 Arbortext Announcements" in my daily "PTC Technical Support Subscriptions" emailThe announcement below says they will continue to include the FOSI composition engine in future releases, but will no longer have any maintenance releases or patches related to it.So, I'm wondering, Should we start migrating our FOSI style sheets to Styler or should we continue to put all our eggs in the FOSI basket since the composition engine that works for us now will be available with future Arbortext products?2014 Arbortext AnnouncementsJuly 2015: FOSI Retirement Notice* Beginning July 1, 2015, PTC will change the level of support for the FOSI composition engine from Standard to Sustained.* This includes the use of XSL-FO, the FOSI Editor and the Arbortext line numbering application.* Customers with an active Global Support agreement may continue contact PTC Technical Support as well as have
Dear all,I'm a noviciate for styler, I meet a question, how to break the row when the table across pages? I think maybe it's a simple question, because we can set it in word easily. But I can not achieve it in Arbortext, I was a little frustrated about it, could you give me any tips please? Thank you very much! For example: I want the following, the row can be breaked when the table across pages. But the reality is the follwing, how to break the row when the table across pages? We can set it in word, but how to in Arbortext Styler? DITA, PDF, Arbortext Editor 6.0 with styler.Your assistance will be highly appreciated in this regard. Thanking you

Hi Arbortext experts,we are working with Arbortext 6.0 M090 and DITA. I tried to work with the keydef-mechanic from DITA, to realize variables in our documents. I wanted to replicate this: http://www.extremetechwriting.com/2012/11/12/using-variables-in-dita/ and then adapt it for our documents. But it seems, as if Arbortext has problems with keydef. When I add the <keyword> element in the <keywords> element, it doesn’t show up in the map. However, if I save the map and open it with another editor (e.g. notepad ++), the <keyword> element is in the code. Anyway, even if I fix the map directly with notepad++ and add a value to the <keyword>-element, Arbortext cannot insert the key in any topic. The key and its value do show up in the dialogue „insert“ > „key reference“, but it can’t be used. The button „insert“ is deactivated, allthough the cursor is on a valid position. To maximize confusion: If I add the keyword reference manually in the topic, it neither uses
Ok folks,I need help with a head-scratcher.In my FOSI on Arbortext 6.0 m090, I generate a link to the title wrapper ofa generated table when conditions are Just Right. In a recent update to myFOSI I changed from an older link tag we are deprecating to a newer one. This all works just dandy in DEV but in PROD (which should be the same), Iam not getting a link.During the update I made changes to the DTD (needed a new link_type on thenewer link element) and, of course, to the stylesheet so the FOSI called inthe new link element, not the older one.If I use my DEV Editor instance and publish to my DEV PE instance. It works. If I use my PROD Editor instance and publish to my PROD PE instance. Itfails. If I use my PROD Editor instance and publish to my DEV PE instance. How do I create a macro for IsoDraw CadProcess 7.2 to be able to edit the object id of the assembly group and then copy that over to the object name so that both the object id and object name are the same? Also I need to truncate the object id and name to only show the characters to the right of the hyphen.
Is there a simple way to capture the title from the StylesheetID processing instruction from the FOSI? I foundstylesheet_get_list_doc(labels[], paths[], is_styler[], use[, maxlabelchars
Given the recent disclosure that PTC will no longer be selling new licenses of Print Composer, I asked one of our PTC/Arbortext account guys about this, and was told that the replacement for Print Composer is supposed to be Styler. Supposedly, Styler can use FOSI. My question about this is, can Styler use the same FOSI instance that Print Composer uses, or does the FOSI need to be converted to something else or modified in some other way? (We do not wish to do this.)Anybody know anything about this?
I have been banging my head on this for a couple of hours now, and I can't help but feel like I'm missing something obvious. In publishing a complete manual, I am trying to publish several chapters, each with their own TOC. I am trying to format the footer in the TOC to read "Page # of X", where X is the total page count for the TOC.Due to other variables in the footer, I have this built as a pseudoelement, called from the page layout set. What I'm getting is that I'm getting the last value for my TIV at the end of the manual, so all my TOCs display the page count for the last chapter TOC for ALL chapters. I tried scoping the TIV to the TOC element, which just causes the value to disappear altogether, so I end up with "Page 1 of"Does anyone have any ideas off the top of their head? Does using the value for the TIV in a pseudoelement for the footer cause this to not resolve correctly?Jason A. Is anyone using Arbortext to convert XML to JSON?-- Paul Nagai
Hi, I have downloaded the trial version of PTC Arbortext Editor with Styler. The program ask me for the (trial) license key. I tried to obtain the trial license using the PTC website, but the procedure fails: PTC website said me that the HOST ID of my PC is not valid. My hostID begins with "90-1b". How can I solve this problem?I sent an email to - but I've not received a reply.
Relevant to Arbortext 5.3I ran into a problem with the CSDB. I was making text edits to a DM in Arbortext Editor and printing to PDF to see the result when it suddenly threw an error back at me saying the document is invalid and wouldn't print to PDF. Now I would have thought the Editor/CSDB was supposed to make sure the DM was valid. In this state, not printing, the document validated successfully using the Green Checkmark and when saved to the CSDB, however as I have discovered it apparently can lose any association with graphics. Here’s what happened, I was attempting to print a PDF from the menu bar when this error came back, I had already printed to PDF not 5 minutes previously so this was a total surprise, I was not making changes to markup: [A30171] com_call: Exception thrown by method PDF. Source is "System.Xml". Description is "Invalid XML document, The document does not have a root element.." The first thing I did was validate the DM with the Green Checkmark, the Data Module
<h3>I've been having some problems with the oid_modify_attr() acl command, I readed th acl reference and I was using the commando without any problem, however I suddenly note something strange; I saw that arbortext changes the attribute of my sections in my opened Document only when I modify the content of the section, more specifically when I remove the section, make some changes in its content and then I re-insert the modified section into my document again, only in those cases the editor makes the change of the seciton's attribute; I'm needing to change the attribute in other escenarios because I want to navigate through the sections of my docbooks and I would like to assign an attribute to every section which works as a flag to understand if my section was visited, modified or if the section is the last section where the user is situated at the time he decides to close the document maybe for restart the navigation later.Again I appreciate your time and the information you kin
We've got a macro for drawing our most commonly used nuts, bolts and screws automatically, but it needs a toolbar with a minimum of 18 icons, most of them just to select options - see the image. It works like this:Choose the options for screw head, nut, washer, length and whether to draw fitted or explodedChoose what fixings to draw with one of the last 4 iconsSelect a hole on the illustration and a point for directionMacro draws fixings in the right orientation and scale, with thick/thin changing to medium/thin or all thin and threads being removed depending on how small the fixings areThe limitations:There's no indication of what options have been selected - you have to rememberAll the options have to be displayed all the time, making more clutter on the screenWhen we add more fixing types, it will just add more iconsThe macro can't prompt the user what to do next - unless we accept the user has to click the screen to remove the promptThings that could make it better:If the toolbars c
I need some help here gang. I have a few hundred AutoCAD wiring diagrams that I need to convert to CGMs. I am trying to run a batch process to open and export to CGMs and it will do this. The problem I am having that the AutoCAD drawings have multiple layout tabs, I want to open the file in the "Model" tab and export that to the CGM. The macro I have created is opening the "Layout 1" tab and this is not the giving me the whole diagram.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Keith Howard
Has anyone been able to run IsoDraw 7.1 on a Windows 8 OS yet? Just checking before I hit the 'go' button here. Thanks all.Rob
Hi, I use Arbortext Editor 6.0. Off and on my editor stops selecting entire elements and I am wondering if anyone knows of a shortcut to get it to Select Element again? I have to restart the editor when it happens, but in the earlier version (Epic) I had a short cut for when it happened - I expect it is a bug of sorts. To specify, it is when I want to select an element with Shift and down or right arrows. It stops and wil only select one charachter at a time. I can choose it from the menu though, but I need the editor to get the settings right.Any suggestions will be appreciated. Maybe a way to make my own shortcut via the command line?
Hi,Is there perhaps a way to convert a couple of hundred MS Word documents to Arbortext XML. I know that you can develop a map template using import/export, but that isn't a viable option since there is a time constraint on the project and the documents are not necessarily similar in terms of formatting/styling. I'm hoping there is some sort of script that can be run to convert the documents. The ideal situation would be to convert to (specifically) DITA, but if I could just get the content into non-DTD specific XML (without having to copy and paste) that would still be great. So, ideally a mass-conversion to DITA, but even just automatically getting it into XML for future manipulation would be a good result. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks
Dear Adepters,I've got a puzzle related to page-number links in indexes built in Arbortext Editor (AE 6.1 M020, but it also appears in 6.0 and probably earlier versions too)I built my FOSI indexing code using help 6099, "Example 2: Titles - Complex Page Numbering."When I publish a doc via Print Composer (or Publish --> PDF File...) the "div" part in compound page numbers is not hot linked in indexes, but the "folio" part is. The div part (along with the folio part) IS hot linked In TOC and LOI entries, also built via AE help.Below is a piece of the index markup (used for debugging) generated via <usetext source="index.app" userule="1"></usetext>. Both div and folio parts of the page number are inside the <ixpgstr> element.<ixpt>AVIATION FACILITY SHIP</ixpt><ixpgstr>8-6</ixpgstr><ixpgkey>392</ixpgkey><ixpt>FORMATION FLYING</ixpt><ixpgstr>9-1</ixpgstr><ixpgkey>395</ixpgkey><ixpt>INTERNAL TR
I have this code, that work well : SubMacro checkColors Protected Define i As Integer Define ColorName As String Define Pattern As String For i = 1 to activeDoc.colorCount ColorName = activeDoc.colors[i].name Pattern = Mid(ColorName, Find(ColorName, "(", 1) + 1, 3) If (Pattern <> "co=") Then Select None Select If Color Is Equal To ColorName If (activeDoc.selectedElements = 0) Then Else Return ColorName End If End If End For Return "COLORS_OK" End SubMacro but if I replace the red colored code by this : If (activeDoc.selectedElements <> 0) Then Return ColorName End If It no works more.Is it possible to know why ? for me that make no sense.Thank you for any help.
