They announced the conference (replacement for PTC/USER) but littleinfo on costs is available. I looked that the other global events andit appears that there is no cost to attend the event, is this thecase? Is PTC covering the costs? I just have to get there and payhotel?
I can change my working directory, but every time I re-open ProE it changes back to the default location. How do I change and save the working directory location?
I'm on Windows 7 with roaming profiles. It may be different or otherOS's, but here's where mine are: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\PTC\ProENGINEER\Wildfire\.wf\.SettingsKinda silly, eh? Doug Schaefer
On PlanetPTC there is a nice area where you can find images from 3D models. See:http://communities.ptc.com/groups/cocreate-customer-showcase Please upload your best images in this showcase!

I have got the error window below on running any analysis on ProMechanica. I have loaded WF5 for the first time, using release M050.WF5 was working OK. Even the results saved in WF4 are displayed OK. Even tried switching off Norton Internet security AV and Microsoft Security Essentials, same result. Uninstalled and reloaded ProE and Pro Mechanica, did not help. Help required in running ProMechanica analysis (msengine.exe).
Tracking the fundamental mode is possible in Mechanica and the 'modal_frequency' parameter is available to BMX for various studies.Does anyone know how to track mode2, mode3, ... ??
Hi Folks,Must be Friday afternoon for me as I am short of temper.I find that I frequently have problems accessing the PlanetPTC site. Maybeit is just me on the other side of the world trying to do something when PTCfolk in the USA decide that everybody else is asleep and it is a great timefor site maintenance. I notice that other international sites such asFacebook do not seem to have this access problem very often.I usually use Firefox with a saved password so I know it is not a typingerror and that same method has worked on other occasions.Anyhow that it it for this topic (but other emails to come on other WF5topics)Regards, Brent DrysdaleSenior Mechanical DesignerTait Radio CommunicationsNew ZealandDDI +64 3 358 1093www.taitradio.com
There has been a nice survey by PTC about the biggest CAD frustrations. 3800 People already responded! See the top results: http://www.ptc.com/project-lightning
Ok so In general I hear that if the bearings are not made for axial load, obviously keep the fan horizontal. But in the case of having to use the fanvertically, there is no consensus as to whether to go up or down shaftbecause the fans can be designed specifically for both, up, down or just foraxial load. The mystery fan does have ball bearings with spring loadedthrust bearing (cheap, but still a thrust bearing) and the manufacturer doesnot see a problem with the orientation. Someone suggested that dust would beminimal because of cooling ventilation, however these motors arehermetically sealed and all brush dust stays inside. It does not look nicewhen you open an old one, that's for sure. I think I got my questionanswered, basically if the bearings can take it, it is OK, but for surevertically mounted motors will have reduced life over horizontally mounted.thanks all who replied.regards,Alfonso
I just downloaded and installed Wildfire 4.0 M60 to try out the new Manikin Extension but I can't figure out how to activate this extension. Can anyone give me an idea how to get strated?
So does uploading an image look just like a discussion, only you attach a file?

BTW, on another topic, what resources does everyone use for questions?I get a few from here and there are one or two forums out there (MCADCentral, PTCSupport logs, PTCUser), plus some other sites (inversionconsulting, Proe.com, etc.). What about you guys? Is this your defaultfor questions? Or is it just Bing/Google? Brian MCAD Central
Anyone know of a way to get a listing of parts and the name of the unit system assigned to the parts?I have a trail file that keeps failing on some parts because those parts have a custom unit system assigned.I'd like to be able to be able to get a listing of the parts with custom units, so I can eliminate them from the trail file.David HaighPhone: 925-424-3931Fax: 925-423-7496Lawrence Livermore National Lab7000 East Ave, L-362Livermore, CA 94550
ProCadsters,Is it true the PTC left out the ability to delete a row or column in a table in WF4?The standard old path appears to be greyed out, nor there is there a delete selection in the context menu.Am I just looking in the wrong place?Words of wisdom or a work around would be graciously accepted.Glen R WishamMOEC EW Mechanical EngineeringSpace and Airborne SystemsRaytheon Company805.879.3359 (office)805.879.3017 (fax)561.3359 (tie line)-6380 Hollister AvenueGoleta CA 93117-3114 USA
