I can't figure out how to change the units in Mechanica. The default stress units are lbm/in s^2. I would like the default stress units to be psi. How do I do this. Thanks ahead of time!

I much prefer QS, and HATE the PH. I find I can never get exactly what I want in large assy's with PH, and hate the time it takes to PH, and also I just find it distracting. Plus, when in sketcher mode, QS allows/forces me to be far more careful slecting references with parent/child relationships in mind. Now, I like PH in the model tree and layers though. But then, I'm an old hack with 13yrs on the system.... Thoughts?

Hi, I have a difficult time to make a coaxial hole with proe 4.0. On the "placement" tab of the hole, it should have "primary reference" box and "secondary reference" box for making a coaxial hole, but my proe 4 doesn't have them. I saw the proe 3.0 has a "primary reference" and "secondary reference" boxes. The coaxial hole is easy to make with the proe 3.0. I couldn't figure out what is wrong my proe 4.0. Please help me out.

Is it possible to take a .dxf file of a spline and somehow read it into a series of points to create a spline in Pro/E?Brad

I do find that it increases my productivity - most of the time. That being said, Selection Prehighlighting is best employed whenever your model is not complex. Also - ALWAYS pay attention to "what was actually picked" as indicated in the message area... And as a bonus - here is a slick mapkey I wrote - it toggles the current status of Selection Prehighlighting, to either "on" or "off", as required: MAPKEY ph ~ Activate `main_dlg_cur` `psh_sel_filter`;\ ~ Activate `selprefs` `PrehButton` ;~ Activate `selprefs` `Ok`

Hello, I would like to generate a bunch of coordinate systems automatically using an existing coordinate system as a reference. I have the origins and rotations of all these coordinate systems with respect to the reference system. Is there a way I can generate a script to read the origins and rotations and automaticaly create all the coords? I should point out that I do not have any experience with writting any kind of internal PROE programs/scripts. Thanks, Tory

Here is a problem I am sure someone will find easy to solve. I have a student trying to extrude sketch 2 (The red shape in the attached JBG file) from its current location to the angled face to its right. However, the shape of sketch 2 needs to follow the angle at the end of the object and stop 3 mm short of the angled face. Ideas? Thanks in advance BTW, i tried to attach the pro-e file (called angled_extrude.prt.1) and because of the .1 it will not attach. It is considered as not being one of the excepted extensions. However, everytime you save pro-e adds the number. Isthere a solution to this? Last tiem I emailed the file to one of the members.

I am trying to figure out how to select convex edges of the same length. I make fixtures out of .250" plate. I would like to be able to select the convex edges that are .250" in length in order to round them. Is it possible to do this without selecting the edges individually? Thanks, Brian

First, I am not a Pro E user, my engineer is, and he is on vacation, so I'm having to deal with this. I have latest version of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 3D Viewer. When I open an .asm model, some items are missing. They are on the Root Tree, but do not appear. Any changes to color, wireframe, etc do not help. I noticed that all parts that do appear have a sub-directory in the Root tree. The items that don't appear have no sub-directory. Any ideas? I'm desperate and need to work with this project.

Does anyone know of any books that cover some of the advanced MECHANICA analyses? I don't think that Roger Toogood, author of many Pro/E books, has written on these topics. I am aware of the PTC How-to document found here: http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_26/howto/mst2477/mst2477.htm, but I would like tutorials or textbooks with more detail and other application examples. Amazon search did produce a relevant textbook, but it is in German, which is not ideal for my purposes. Thanks for any input, Andri

For rolling back an mfg file: You can also Open a file by version, so if you know the version number just click in the upper right of the file open window, select open by version and you will see all the versions. Once opened if you save that file it will become the latest version.Paul Stern

IS there a way to change a copy-paste special of a hole AFTER you createit "DEPENDENT" to non-dependent? We have a use who has a bunch ofstandard holes that were created with copy-paste special-dependent andnow he wants to go into a few and turn of the countersink. When heedits the definition, everything is "grayed out", so he can't turn offthe dependency. Is there a way around this other than deleting andrecreating the specific holes? Thanks...
