Professor Tetsuro Tokoro (@ttokoro) is a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan (IEEJ), and he has dedicated much of his time to teaching and studying electric circuit design for his college students at Japan’s National Institute of Technology (KOSEN), Gifu College. A true man of math, ttokoro finds helping community members solve their problems to be very fun. He seeks out math-based brain teasers and shares them with the Mathcad community to gain the insights of his kind and very intelligent fellow Mathcad users. These include resistor meshes (including in 3D), perfect squared squares, and a puzzle where you must identify the minimum radius on a circle with n number of points where all distances between points must be an integer. Sometimes, he looks for problems on rosettacode.org to solve. According to ttokoro, many of these problems are unique and won’t be found in a textbook (and many math textbooks in use were written before math software came to

Hi all, as this came up in several threads, let me add a consolidated post here referring to External Copy Geometry (ECG) and body attribute propagation. The questions here are mostly related to the logic of the propagation options for bodies (and also other objects) Note that the ECG has settings within its option panel to control the propagation of parameters. This includes several aspects ranging from appearances to body names and more, and it also includes an option to propagate the construction body attribute. It also depends on whether an external body/or bodies are added "as is" or being merged into the existing body in the part. Here is how the options look like: Some questions had been raised for example about how the construction yes/no option works when a body is brought via ECG from a source model to a target model, initially with that option checked and then unchecked during Edit-Definition of the ECG. The answer to that is that this optio

Today, PTC Mathcad product manager Andrew McGough announced the Mathcad Scripted Control design Working Group: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad-Scripted-Control-design/gh-p/mathcadscriptedcontroldesign Space is very limited, and active participation and attendance in discussion is required to join. PTC aims to implement scripted controls in PTC Mathcad Prime 10, based on the feedback we receive from this Working Group.Even if we don't have room for you in the Working Group, you may still contribute your ideas for scripted controls in Mathcad Prime via the Mathcad Ideas board: https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mathcad-Ideas/idb-p/PTCMathcadIdeas
Registration has opened for the Mathcad Virtual Conference 2022! Happening September 13, 2022, 10:00 Eastern time. This will be our third annual Mathcad conference, and this year we're promising to talk only about information with demos that you will find valuable and interesting. You'll hear from... Brian Thompson, Mathcad general manager, introducing the show and discussing the current state of Mathcad Andrew McGough, Mathcad product manager, presenting an updated Mathcad Prime roadmap, along with world-premiere demos of some of the new functionality coming to next year's Mathcad Prime 9 Anji Seberino, Mathcad application engineer, showcasing Mathcad Prime's powerful design of experiments functionality Anna Novikova, Mathcad software engineer, deeply detailing the improvements made to Mathcad Prime 8's numeric and symbolic engines (including some enhancements that were not documented in Mathcad Help) A Mathcad customer and how Mathcad Prime powers his innovative structural en
This month’s challenge is related to electrical engineering. We have a simple circuit with an electrical potential of 220 Volts. Initially we have a single 10 Ohm resistor. Then we add a second resistor in parallel, with 10% higher resistance. Then we add a third resistor in parallel, with 10% higher resistance than the previous resistor. And so on. Calculate the current in the circuit for the single resistor case. Calculate the resistance of each additional resistor and current through each resistor for 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10 resistors in parallel. Can you write a function or program that calculates the resistance of each resistor and current through each resistor for n resistors in parallel? These calculations are fairly straightforward, so it will be interesting to see what tools – vectors, matrices, loops, plots, charts, etc. – that you use to solve the problem. As always, how you document your calculations is important as your worksheet will be visible to the community. Here is an e

Hello Multibody community! Welcome to a second post on multibody capabilities added in Creo 7.0.1. What I had not yet been fully covering in the last post was how Creo & Windchill interact as it relates to the multibody concept. So, here a summary of Multibody support for Windchill & Visualization General behavior Multibody parts are managed similarly to single body parts, bodies are not exposed Windchill versions prior to Windchill 12 Body designation information is ignored when connected to a Windchill Server version not supporting body designation yet Publishing of multibody parts to Creo View is supported since Creo View 6.1 (including exposure of bodies to Creo View) Windchill 12 & Creo 7.0.1 Support of Body designation, including Transfer of Body designation information from Creo to Windchill for models containing designated bodies WT part creation for designated bodies if BOM Designation is set (.prt, .asm) IBA mapping & propagation for body mater
