Folks,Someone recently asked me if anybody has tried using iPads or other tablets to view mechanical CAD data.I do not think they were interested in being able to author new MCAD data on the iPad. They were thinking of some simple viewing, manipulation, and other similar tasks. Ease-of-use is key.Any thoughts? Thanks! Thanks.Frank H. Strieffler,Lockheed Martin
Hi all Does anyone know of a good materials database for selecting and controlling materials that links with Pro/Engineer ? Ian Turner CAD Manager Flight Refuelling Ltd
Hi Folks,Just curious if any of you in other countries are watching this event. Ifyou are asking the question "what is Rugby?" then this post is probably notfor you. Hi all,Just curious....Layouts have been around since the beginning of Pro, promoted asa way to bridge the gap from 2D usersto the 3D users. Personally, I usedlayouts very early on in Pro...then as skels, Pubs and ECGsbecame more useful, better and easier, I abandoned their use.Now that most of us are familiar and comfortable with3D and more robust, graphical methods are available, do you still uselayouts extensively?
First select the model name of the object in the top of the modeltree. Now go the color palette an pick a color. As soon as you pick the color, the complete model changes to that color.Enjoy,Ronnie Shand
How do I find the default line thicknesses for plots?Pro/Help says that UOS, Pro/E uses the default pen mapping table file in<loadpoint>/text/table.pnt. This file does not exist anywhere under myloadpoint.Using Wildfire 4 M200Andrew Kelly, P.E. | Senior Engineer | Crane Aerospace & Electronics |+1 440 326 5555 | F: +1 440 284 1090
There's an open SPR regarding this. Recommendation is to switch toswitch to Windows Classic theme.
Hello, can anyone tell me if it is possible to lock the position of dimensions relative to a sketch? I am creating a series of sketches which i am storing in the sketcher palette & i am noticing that despite my efforts to space out the dimensions in an orderly fashion, when i view the thumbnail in the sketcher palette, they are all over the place, sometimes on top of one another. The sketches are quite intricate, with tiny bits of geometry, & most look similar, so i rely on the dimensions as much as the geometry when selecting the appropiate sketch. Its most frustrating.RegardsJohn
WF5, M090 Playing with JPEG exports in WF5 with real-time rendering turned on. ILOVE that I can FINALLY save as a JPEG in perspective without having todo the menu dance because Pro/E would kick you out of perspective mode.I like that real time rendering is finally somewhat useful, out of thebox. What I don't like is that the saved JPEGs don't match what I see onscreen. The highlights change and the reflection and shadow getscropped oddly. And, if I save at a higher DPI (400-600), it's not evenrendered. (Typical PTC, frankly - fix it 80%-90% but still leave itcrippled enough that they shouldn't have bothered. But I digress.) Theproblem doesn't seem to exist in WF4. I've attached 3 JPEGs, one from the Windows7 snipping tool showing whatI saw onscreen, the other two from the Pro/E exports at 100 DPI and 400DPI. Anyone else find this and have a solution? I have a call into PTC, butI thought I'd ping the group here as well. Doug Schaefer
If I have a model open and decided to open "Mechanica Results" in a new window. I can't switch back to the model without closing the results window. Is there a way to keep the Mechanica Results window active/open and switch to another window that has a model so that I can do some work on it?Cluelss in Dallas."Too many people walk around like Clark Kent, because they don't realize they can Fly like Superman"
In the near future, we will be moving from Wildfire 4.0 to WF 5.0/Creo. Any words to the wise, or any thing that I need to watch for?
Consensus is that what I want to do is impossible (at least in WF3), becauseediting the Pro/PROGRAM is a manual process. I received a couple ofsuggestions for trying to trick it into working, but none of them pannedout. Bottom line is, every time I add something to the group, I've got to go intothe Pro/PROGRAM and edit it manually. Thanks to all who replied. To kick things off, I'm pulling a link from the archives to help you with rendering. I'm seeing some great stuff being rendered however the thing that stands out the most is the flatness in the renderings. By flatness, I refer to the even tone across the image which if you were to open the image in Photoshop and looked at the histogram you'd end up seeing a traditional bell curve:This leads to a very flat, even toned image. What you want, is pizazz or in simple terms contrast. Some artists lean towards the crunchy side where you pull the distribution more to the dark side:While you can approach this in post, it is not nearly as good as rendering with good lighting in mind. So to kick things off, here's a refresher on the old staple 3-point lighting:http://www.3drender.com/light/3point.html
http://www.ptc.com/for/education/schools/curriculum/I found this link and was excited because I'm trying to learn pro/e, but then I realized that its pro/desktop? What's the difference and will these tutorials work for someone learning pro/e even though the interface is a little different. If not, does ptc or anyone else have similar tutorials that I can follow for Pro/e. Thanks
Hi, i have a table with self calculating values (driven by relations), these values have metric units. I have a customer who wants to see both metric & imperial units side by side, (or at least together somehow). I really don't want to have to redesign my table if at all possible, is there a way of adding these additional imperial values in some "fly out" fashion?, probably not, but i thought i would ask the question, you never know.RegardsJohn
Looks like this went out empty the first time. Second try.Hi all,I remember a while ago someone posting something called the commandments of ProE (or something like that), but it had the word commandments in it.It was basically a best practices document which I recall as being pretty good. Each line started with thou shall (or shall not). I only say that in case it rings a bell for anyone.I'm working on a best practices document for users at our company. Although I already have a wealth of info (much from this thread), I was curious as to weather or not anyone remembers that particular document, and if they happen to still have it.Thanks,Stefan
I need to run a test from one PC (A) where another PC (B) is unavailable (down, broken, hosed).Specifically the shares on B.However, B is a server that I cannot actually shut down because of the user impact. Is there something I can do on PC A so that PC B "doesn't exist" or at least that B's shares are unreachable?Again, I cannot change anything on B.I tried adding an entryin into the hosts file, but that didn't work.Windows knows to use the active directory, even when the entry in hosts is different. And I cannot take A off the netwotk, because other PC's need to be accessable form A (during the test) while B is inaccessable.Gerry
Does anyone know the list price of the JT interface?Gerry
Hey guys,Need help with my model http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6682/3dmodel.jpg. Here is a picture of it.The model has been solved successfully with no errors at all, and when I try to solve it again, it comes up with all these errors saying that certain nodes and surfaces have degenerate boundary surfaces. Nothing has been changed, and it still comes up with the errors. I tried googling this problem, but have nothing for it.I need help on this ASAP!CheersJason
In WF5, there's a nice enhanced appearances drop down: Where is it getting those appearances from? It seems that 'MyAppearances' is coming from the path defined by pro_colormap_path aswhen I comment it out, it's black. Where is the library coming from?I'm getting errors about some of the appearances in some of the filesare from WF4 and need to be saved (How? I dunno.), but I can't for thelife of me figure out where they're coming from. I'm assuming thatthere ought to be a new set installed with WF5 and I'd like to refer WF5to those. I'm still running WF4, so I'll need to keep a WF4 compatiblefiles as well, but I've gotta find them first. Thanks, Doug Schaefer
