Kepware

  Hi,I have a connection with a device through SNMP v2c. By default Kepserver allows me to receive a maximum of 100 trap events, but I need it to allow me to receive 200 trap events. Is there a license that increases the number of trap events?      

We use Kepware to collect data from Mitsubishi Q-series PLCs and process it in ThingWorx.I'm trying to set the device using the Mitsutubishi Ethernet driver and get the data from the PLC's data register as a string, but I can't select "String" from the data type in the Kepware property editor.An integer can be obtained by selecting the "Word" data type.Is there a way to get the string using Kepware? Or do I have to create a service that takes an integer in Kepware , converts the integer to ASCII code and generate strings in ThingWorx?   Thanks

I have recently deployed a WinCC process control system in our production plant in Toronto/Canada to connect the production machines to the SAP MES system. In this case, the WinCC takes over the man in the middle function and reports the individual plant states and operating modes to the SAP world. Automatic product changes are also triggered from SAP and the machine then receives all production-relevant data from WinCC. The network setup looks like this. I have two servers running KepServerEX, LinkMaster and Redundancy Master. They are a redundant pair to ensure uptime.  I am looking to upgrade these server's to a new OS (Windows 2019 Server Datacenter). I know Redundancy Master does not work properly on anything past Windows 2016.  I am looking for options to replacing the functionality of these obsolete software packages. I am trying to avoid different vendors if at all possible.  I specifically need the ability to write data from one PLC in the mill to another. Most of these are between ControlLogix Processors and I need to be able to get data into specific programs, which LinkMaster does easily.  I use Redundancy Master to mirror DCS connectivity servers for KepServerEX and LinkMaster, so that if we have to take down one server in the pair, the OPC data can continue to be provided. I have a windows server 2019 system in which I installed kepserver,PLCs and databases are connected to obtain information, lately the tags have a certain delay,I have not moved anything in the configuration but I wanted to ask if anyone knows why it happens or if the number of tags is limited or is it the capacity of my system Thanks for your attention

Hi,   I have two Kepware Servers(lets say Kep-1 and Kep-2) connected to common edge, with modbus and OPC UA tags. The devices addresses and connection are exactly same in both the Kepservers(Kep-1 and Kep-2). There are around 300 energy meter OPC UA tags that are connected to FactoryTalkLinxGatewayOPCUA Server in each of these Kepservers.    We are facing a scenario, where all of a sudden some of the tag's quality in the second kepserver Kep-2 becomes bad even though the quality of the same tags are good in the Kep-1. After we reinitialize the Kep-2 all the tags quality become good again. We stopped the kepware service at Kep-1 for some days for testing purpose, and didn't face any problem in Kep-2. But once we start the Kep-1 service again, the issue occurs unexpectedly again after few hours or few days in Kep-2. What is the cause of this issue?   Best Regards, Thanks

hi  I am using kepware to retrieve information from 20 mitsubishi plcs fx3u on ethernet channel. At the moment i have only 1 channel and 20 devices configured inside but i am wondering if this is the best approach if 1 of the PLCs fails and it might choke whole channel communication. Would it not be better to use 20 identical channels with only 1 devices in each? what would be the pros and cons of either solution? Which would be better solution from robustness point of view. Inside Mitsubishi M80 CNC controller, one Q series PLC is used.Inside Mitsubishi M70 CNC controller, one QnA series PLC is used. Then I setup Kepware configuration and PLC program under the help of Mitsubishi Ethernet Driver Help, there have some contents about  Q and QnA series PLC, but I can't connect to M80 and M70 controller successfully. So I want to confirm if Mitsubishi M80 and M70 CNC controller can integrate with Kepware directly?

I'm currently testing KEPServerEX 6 in a highly Mitsubishi Focused facility. We have many Mitsubishi PLC's but only six are on a ethernet network and are considered "Masters." The majority of the Masters are connected to other Mitsubishi PLC's via CC-Link IE-Field. I have been able to connect to one of the Master PLC's and create tags, data log to sql, etc. I am trying now to pull data (X's and  D's) directly from a PLC on the the CC-Link IE-Field network. For example in the attached picture i'm trying to connect to W/S Station 8. In the Mitsubishi driver I have the ID set to 10.25.0.130:N1:8. The I.P. is the Built in Ethernet Port I.P. on the Master PLC which I can connect to just fine. Then N is Network 1 which is a CC-Link IE-Field Master Card on the Master PLC rack and 8 is Station 8 on the CC-Link IE-FIield. Hello,  I recently started a project with 7 PLC (Mitsubishi C2J). Each of the device has its own channel. When I launch the QuickClient, only the first device have its tags quality at 'Good'; all the other have bad quality.    Also, in the logs, it appears that 'Device is not responding' for them.   The strange part is that, when I ping the IP addresses of the devices, all of them are responding well. and the item ._system of the device that are not responding have ._Error boolean at '1'. The last thing that I have noticed is that, when I change the IP address of the first channel to another one (ie, from .31 to .32), the new address of the device becomes readable in the quick Client.  I though it was an error in the channels parameters, but the all have the same parameters.   Need some help, thank you.

I want to know what is the max count of channels (modbus TCP/IP Eth) I can configure in one Kepware Server Ex Instance ?. I want to be able to configure 60 channels to read around 84,000 data points on Modbus I also want to ask if 100,000 tags is the limit on how much one kepware server ex can read ?   

Hi,From Derived Tags, we are getting negative values due to spikes in the signals; how can we avoid sending negative values from KepServerEx to Thingworx or any configuration that can be done from KepServerEx to avoid this or any change that can be done in the Remote Thing? Such that storing negative values on DataBase can be avoided.Thanks

Hi, I see this applies to  KEPServerEX 5.20.396.0 to 6.12 What about the older version like 5.18? Any suggestions please? I cannot find any documentation from PTC.

I'm working on a system with around 12 Channels and different PLCs with different KEPServerEX drivers.We converted a PLC program to run on a test 1756-L73 ControlLogix 5570 controller. I only had to update the Wonderware InTouch tags items/addresses in the database from something like (B3:7/3) to (B3[7].3) and everything seemed to work fine.Now we have the production PLC and its a 1769-L33ER CompactLogix 5370 Controller. Again, everything seemed to work until we tried to write to an address in the PLC. All addresses can be read but the only way to write to an address in this PLC is to create a tag in KEPServerEX and use the OPC quick client to change the value. I can then change the item in the InTouch DB to the new test KEPServerEX tag and that will work.None of the existing PLCs in the KEPServerEX configuration have tags configured. Just changing from a ControlLogix to CompactLogix requires tags to be added into KEPServerEX but only for writes?I hope I'm missing a setting or somethin

Hello all,   I tried to test KepwareEX 6.11 and find that TIA portal explorer hails that openness is not installed at the begining of explorer installation. I hope its only question of proper testing at this moment. Is there any workaround how to overcome that message and try it?   Thanks for answer.   MS
