This month’s challenge has a civil engineering theme – actually, a bit of an ancient civil engineering theme related to my adopted home of Valencia, Spain. One of its most famous landmarks is the Torres de Serranos (Serranos Towers), one of the last remnants of its medieval wall:Torres de Serranos in Valencia, SpainIn this challenge, you will perform some of the same calculations that master builder Pere Balaguer worked on in the 1390s. Except, of course, you have the benefit of modern software for engineering calculations. Specifically, you will perform analysis of the Gothic arch at its entrance:Gothic Arch Gate Entrance to the Torres de SerranosDimensions and assumptions:The arch is a classic three-hinged arch mechanism. The span (horizontal width at the opening) is 6 meters. The height from the spring line (where the arch transitions from vertical support and begins its inward curve) to the apex hinge is 4 meters. It carries a uniform dead load from the floor above of 45 kN/m acros
PTC is hosting a webinar in early September about using templates in PTC Mathcad Prime. We want to promote how thoughtful template use saves users time and are great for efficiency. We’ll be going into quite a bit more detail than the basics of putting your company logo in the header. While our internal PTC expert presenters will present great insight, you may also have great use cases or experiences that we haven’t even thought of that all Mathcad users could be inspired by!In this thread, please share or describe your Mathcad Prime templates and how they help you: be it function libraries that you regularly reuse, or sophisticated set-ups for accelerating the creation of client reports. (Note: This is a public forum; please don’t share your confidential or critical intellectual property. I may also collate your responses and share them in a PTC.com blog at a later time so everyone can benefit from best practices!)

Hi, I am trying to solve an ODE to model a “Ball and Cone” tuned mass damper. The equations simulate a ball mounted inside a pair of cones with mass on top. The ball oscillates up and down an inclined slope with a curved region at the apex between the up/down slopes. I am using Radau solver as it is a stiff equation. Adams/BDF “does not converge”. The 1st solve block uses a simplified simulation for base excitation of the TMD. Using Radau with modest levels of damping the first solve block result gives a discontinuous response which should not happen given the inclined slope is a tangent to the curved section at the apex. Any ideas how I can correct this discontinuity would be appreciated.I tried using sigmoid transition functions (2nd solve block) for the step between inclined slope and radius but this gives a large number error. The 3rd solve block includes an extra degree of freedom to simulate the tower on which the damper is mounted, which is the aim of the program. This won’t solv
I have been using mathcad prime on my computer for engineering. Starting about a week ago, whenever I try to open the app, it opens a webpage to download the free trial. I have tried upgrading the app, uninstalling and reinstalling, neither of these have worked. The app still shows on the bottom bar but will not actually display the window. I am running matched for windows. What should I do?
I am using Mathcad Release 15.0 and DatecodeM005 Invalid host I'm trying to move my old mathcad 15.0 license to my home computer. I get Flexnet licensing error -9,57. I've tried generating licenses with both the ethernet mac and the wifi mac. I tried putting the laptop on ethernet and verifying that port was active with the matching license file. Here are the errors that I faced Invalid Host... Feature: Mathcad Hostid: PTC_Hostid=40:c2:ba:fe:42:7b (this is the ethernet mac) Flexnet error:-9,57 etc.
Chapter 9: Wind and Seismic Loads on Buildings, Part 2 Description: This application computes the seismic forces, shears, and overturning moments at each level of a building, following the Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure of Section 9.4 of ASCE Standard 7-93. The building must meet the limitations for use of this procedure given in section 9.3.5 of ASCE Standard 7-93. Previous: Chapter 9, Part 1Next: Chapter 9, Part 3
I try to activate trial license, it says that it is activated, but next startup, it opens the browser again and the disclaimer on the sheet is still present. The button Activate is still present. How can we test the full version without license prompts? The convertor MCD to MCDX also mentioned, no license
i purchased the Mathcad license. but in my new laptop the license is not working. could you please help me. thank you

Hello, I have created a Mathcad sheet where I can find the capacity of a footing on a competent soil. The sheet is working but I would like to optimize at certain areas. My first improvement would be to see if instead of manually putting them as arrays, if it is possible to put in a condensed way so I do not have to type in the layer properties manually in case there are more than 10 or even 100 layers. My Second improvement will be if there is way to have a shortened code where “Footing Layer Ends” does the same output. Currently, it is for four layers but I would like to have it in a way that if there are multiple layers, it will handle the task instead of writing multiple if-else stateemnts. Thank you in advance. My version is 10.0.1.0
When I open the installer for my free trial and get to the application selection screen there are no applications to select and I cannot click next. I’ve seen this posted in the past but none of the solutions are working fore me. Any help is appreciated.
I own a perpetual Mathcad 14.0 M020 Single User license purchased directly from PTC. The legacy MCLicense.exe utility authenticates to my PTC account, but the activation request fails with HTTP 403 Forbidden before a license.dat is generated. Since license.dat is never created, Mathcad reports that C:\Program Files (x86)\Mathcad 14\licenses\license.dat does not exist. Can someone generate a replacement license.dat or License Pack manually? My old PC crashed so I am unable to locate the old file.

Good morning, I spun my wheels on this for a while yesterday, and now I'm looking for help. The attached file was created in MathCAD Prime 8.0. In order for it to work, make sure that the csv file and the mathcad file are in the same directory. What it's supposed to do is accept a csv file with a specific structure and convert it into a vector of properties with MathCAD units. It was supposed to be a short program, but I'm running into a bug that I can't seem to work around gracefully. When I have the READCSV(filename) function inside of a program, my output has no units, but when I have my READCSV function outside of the program, it works. I want the READCSV function to work inside of the program so that I can call multiple csv files and combine the properties of each, otherwise the purpose of my overly-complicated data entry experiment is moot. Please help! Thank you,Kevin
Hi everyone,We use Mathcad Prime at work, and our license is managed through our own company server. My employer gave me the IP address and port details to enter into the settings for activation. However, I can't seem to find where to download the actual installation package. Our IT support told me to get it from the Mathcad website, but I can't find it there, and I don't have an official PTC account to log in. Any advice on what to do?
Good afternoon, Community,Would anyone be kind enough to help me trouble shoot the attached Mathcad Prime 11 file.I am try to calculate the thickness of an angle to withstand the hydro pressure of wet concrete, using the symbolic method, with no luck. ThanksBoyer
Hi,I was trying to move my MC15 license from my old PC to my laptop, but in the process something went wrong, so now I have the MC15 license in place for my PC, but the additional extensions are locked to something “null” I’m unable to move or recover the extensions, and thus the license file I can generate only includes the program. I get this error “CRITICAL: Product license is overallocated”How do I reset the licenses totally and generate a new host that will include both MC15 and extensions? Thanks! \\\Jens

Hello! We have 2 users with 2 different computers reporting the same issue with their prime files.I don’t know if it has something to do with the latest august Windows 11 Cumulative update (KB5121003)?The issue started happening yesterday after the users updated their Windows 11.When we try to Save as PDF or use the Print function we get the same errors. And we have tried several PDF printers. It only creates a .PDF file with 0kb in size. I uploaded 2 files that we are experiencing this issue with.
We have had Mathcad 14 installed since 2019 but now need to move the install/license to a new machine but person who originally activated the license retired. I need to be able to activate or move the license. I created a ptc account but can’t reach the “manage licenses” page it says: Access Denied - Insufficient PrivilegesYour web account does not hold the following required privileges to access the application:License Management Reporting for read-only access.License Management Licensing for configuration and license file generation access.”I tried calling the support 1-800 number but it says I have to have a customer support number to get support. I have no idea what that would be. How can I get assistance? We still have the original mathcad activated license file on the original machine, does that have the customer number? I need a way to get support.
After changing my PC to a new one i need reinstall Mathcad14, but its activation can not be completed (activationserver -403). As i bought my MATHcad14 from Mathcad before it was owned by PTC i have no customer number from PTC and therefore are unable to upgrade my PTC User account. However my software is a commercial singleversion and i plan to operate it without being forced to buy a new version. Send me new licence file.
Hello, I have been trying to work out how to change the units from Joules to MegaJoules/Giga Joules in the question below. When I change this it has "The variable is undefined, check the label set correctly" So the answer should be 279 MJ/hr Is this a matter of changing something in the settings or assigning this vaue? I have seen other problems with MJ and GJ so know it can be done. Thanks
Having trouble getting my 30-day free license trail of MathCAD Prime 11.0.0.
