It is possible for companies outside the aerospace and defense industries to successfully tailor and adopt Systems Engineering methods and techniques. In fact some companies that produce medical devices, digital storage devices, laboratory diagnostic equipment and organizations that seek to increase reliability of the power grid are already adopting and implementing systems engineering. This presentation explores how and why companies outside of the Aerospace and Defense industries can successfully implement systems engineering. It looks at the myths or “Barriers to Yes” that keep some companies from even considering systems engineering and examines the real facts and benefits. The presentation will describe three views of systems engineering with a focus on the key view, the systems thinking perspective. The presenter will also explain how systems engineering can be tailored and applied to virtually any industry to provide leadership, manage risk, and deal with complexity. Final
