"We don’t have the time or money to invest into automating our CAD designs." "Our products are too unique for automation." Sound familiar? There are many perceived barriers to automating PTC Creo, especially if complete and custom automation is expected. However, in this session, attendees will learn about simple yet powerful automated and semi-automated utilities for PTC Creo that are inexpensive and quick to implement. Most companies are burdened with similar repetitive tasks when using PTC Creo such as exporting BOMs to Excel or drawings to PDF, last-minute changes that affect numerous components within a design, compiling documents for proposals or submittals, cleaning up old data, administrative updates such as adding or deleting parameters, changing parameters value, editing relations, etc. By using Sigmaxim’s SmartAssembly automation capabilities, the presenter will discuss tools created that increase PTC Creo’s efficiency, usability, and administr
The presentation will focus on Design Requirements related to Direct Metal Laser Sintering. The presenter will discuss some of the key benefits of Additive Manufacturing to the space industry and the design issues that come with trying to resolve design practices for this technology. Most companies still consider a traditional 2D drawing (and with this the PTC Creo Parametric .drw file) as the leading database object of their enterprise. Designers use to deliver their work results as 2D drawings to downstream processes for decades. In the recent years more and more pieces of the traditional drawing content moved into the 3D model, but usually not exclusively and are often managed redundantly in 2D drawing and 3D model. This needs to change to avoid inconsistency and to exploit the full potential of 3D based documentation. Consequential the 3D model will become the single source of information and the leading object in companies’ databases. A 2D drawing that can be derived (semi-) automatically from the 3D model will co-exist as a describing document where necessary to satisfy the corporate systems and other requirements. The presenters will share how P&G has approached the challenge of moving meta-data from existing 2D drawings into 3D models to finally reach a
The User Interface of PTC Creo Elements Direct Modeling allows you to take fully advantage of parametric based modeling flexibly. The presenter will share how users can dynamically choose what existing features they would like to refer to when creating 2D profiles and doing 3D modifications as well as how users can also decide to use different features to fit the task. Color coded searches are used to visually recognize parts in an assembly that meet certain search criteria. They are easy to set-up in PTC Creo View and can benefit the whole Enterprise. Configuration Management can see what parts are still at the Lifecycle state of "In Work". The presenters will discuss how to use the color coded search to recognize which parts and assemblies have been released before sending them off to get manufactured. Manufacturing will then be able to recognize parts that contain hazardous material and require special handling. This allows the model to show the critical information instead of a text file. Almost every company, whether commercial, defense, or aerospace is investigating Model Based Design (MBD). How do you engage and motivate leaders and managers who are leery of change or don't believe the capabilities are robust enough for production to implement MBD? Raytheon is moving forward with MBD as part of the mechanical engineering solution. By attending this presentation hear what Raytheon had to do, how they went about it, and the challenges and hurdles they had to overcome that could help any company working towards implementation. Hear from the presenters how they got started on a path to success with MBD by utilizing various techniques in combination with PTC and third-party tools. The method to communicate the allowable part feature variation from design to manufacturing has been with tolerances. In a Model Based Definition (MBD) environment 3D models are used to define Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). The correct application and harmonization of national and international standards becomes complex and challenging. The GT&T advisor provides expert guidance on the correct application of GD&T and ensures standards compliance within PTC Creo Parametric. In this presentation an overview of all the available tolerances analyses options within the PTC Creo Parametric environment will be presented. Best-Worst Case, 1D Tolerance Stack Up Analysis and Tolerance Optimization for Assembly Quality techniques will be demonstrated. Integrating an ever increasing amount of software into their products has become a priority for many product development companies. PTC's strategy for addressing this critical need is centered around the PTC Integrity ALM product suite. The executive leadership at BAE Systems US Controls saw the general business case for an integrated ALM/PLM solution, but asked how PTC Integrity stacks up against open source alternatives. This presentation will explore the answer to this question.Presented by: Jason Fugate and Paul Gear, SiemensSee all PTC Live Global 2015 - PTC Creo and CAD Presentations

Weatherford has been growing its PTC Windchill installation since 2002, this mature and successful global deployment provides significant value. Over the years the implementation has brought many benefits to the Enterprise as a whole, not just in Engineering. Generally the advantages come as a result of good process and data management, this presentation will focus on a handful of the most significant impacts. Each example will include feedback from business segment representatives and clearly show the benefits that PTC Windchill has brought to their area. Examples include; successfully passing stringent audits, proving conformance to design standards, being able to consistently build the same product from any manufacturing location, supporting our compliance department with consistent high quality data, having rock solid design control and change management in a global design environment. In today’s ever changing global climate, it is becoming more essential to streamline processes, automate mundane tasks, and allow regional administration with centralized control of global companies. With the push for companies to respond more quickly in order to maintain a competitive advantage, it becomes more essential to ensure the correct configuration is available for users to perform their jobs. As companies also require more flexibility and users are beginning to design more varying products, PTC Creo deployments must be dynamic to meet these needs. In this discussion, the presenter will explore tools, utilities, and programs created that allow Kohler Co. to be more dynamic, meet the needs of the various division requirements, and allow regionalized administration, yet maintaining centralized standards and control. Key takeaways will be: How to establish regional and global configuration standards Determine config.pro vs config.sup settings Allow immediate updates globally Join

Picture a NASA Engineer out at the launch pad. New construction has been completed, and the engineer has been asked to inspect the job. While working, the engineer repeatedly travels between the site and his desk, spending time seeking out information, printing out drawings for reference, and attempting to align schedules to meet with the team. This type of scenario is not just specific to Kennedy Space Center though, many industries partake in similar circumstances—most realizing that there is always a need for more information, and often at a moment’s notice. While this approach will eventually get the job done, NASA KSC-ESC has questioned how to use readily available resources to streamline work processes, become more efficient, and produce less waste. During this presentation the presenters will share the steps NASA has taken to find a solution to this dilemma. Starting with PTC Creo 3.0, PTC Creo Parametric users can now write Java applications which extend and enhance the PTC Creo Parameteric user interface. This means Java programmers can now modify the PTC Creo Parametric ribbon menus and write their own dialog boxes; something that was previously available only to C and C++ developers. The presenter will discuss the techniques needed to get a Java program into a PTC Creo Parametric ribbon tab - creating the ribbon definition file and adding buttons and tying those buttons to your Java code. Next, the presenter will discuss how to define dialog box components in PTC Creo Parametric's UI resource files, and how to write the code to respond to the dialog box components. The final part of the presentation will focus on sharing the techniques for managing dialog boxes as they grow and become more complex. With so many tools in the PTC Creo Parametric toolbox, there are good ways, and there are better ways to get the job done. In this presentation, attendees will learn a minimum of one trick, likely many more, to accomplish design goals more effectively. For this event, the presenter will be compiling the top tricks learned from previous presentations. Whether attendees make sketches, parts, assemblies, drawings or integrate into PTC Windchill, attendees will learn something. For attendees who work with PTC Windchill and deal with ghost objects, they won’t want to miss the presentation. The presenter will show how to remove ghost objects from any file and how a config change can even prevent certain ghost objects.
