As an executive you will need more than luck on your side to navigate through this perfect storm that promises to deliver a tsunami of change. Green culture, servitization of product, digital ubiquity, cloud computing and mass social acceptance of connectivity will fundamentally shift the focus from competing on selling the best technology product, to delivering a product that will open the door to value added services. For the incumbent technology producer, technology alone might get you to the customers doorstep, but value based services will get you an invitation to be a strategic partner. Sitting on the technology stoop of yesterday will reduce your once coveted technology offering into a simple commodity, and nimble start ups fueled by hyper innovation cycles will leverage your technology as the welcome mat to your former customer. Today’s manufacturers have transitioned their focus from individual products to platforms and variants that give them speed and agility in the marketplace. In this presentation, presenter explore new approaches to design reuse that help you make more informed product line and variant design decisions. Product line engineering can be as straightforward as building an overloaded 150% model, selecting the individual items you want to see in any variant, then generating that variant into a product model for budget analysis and detailed design. Explore a structured approach to assessing product line alternatives and making more informed design decisions.
