I'm using Arbortext 6.0 F000 and using it to log into Oracle. If there is no database activity for a while (30 mins roughly), i lose my connection with oracle. Is there a setting somewhere which details the time for disconnecting Arbortext from Oracle? Many thanks for any help
Is there ootb support for flow charts or were we supposed to know that we needed to have that created when we had aour style sheet created. I cannot seem to find any tags that would support this. Any help would be appreciated.Bryon
Hi experts,As part of migration Arbortext editor and Publish Engine from 5.1 version to 6.0 project, we require to test /compare PDF generated in both the versions. Can you please suugest us some tools to compare PDFs in fomatting and content changes view to make easy for our testing process. Thanks in advance.
We often do wiring diagrams. We add cuttout loops where wires cross, so my macro places a pre-drawn cuttout loop at the point picked by left mouse click. It then repeats until right mouse click, when it's supposed to exit. The problem is that it doesn't seem to exit the while loop properly. If you left click on the drawing, it adds the cutout loop drawing OK, and repeats, but when you right click it still keeps repeating - unless you hold the right button for a second or more, but then it selects all the loops you've added to the drawing so far and changes the line type of one of them (as though you've double clicked on it).A simplified version of the macro is below.Strange thing is that if I uncomment the message lines below, the macro seems to work OK, (though with the annoying popup messages of course), except that the first one returns 0 (no mouse click) instead of the expected 1 (left mouse click).I'm obviously doing something wrong but I can't figure it - any of you clever guys help
Hi All, I am trying to fit a 10 column table onto a page. However, when I publish a preview to PDF, the table always shifts to the right and the last two columns get cut off. I just cant seem to align/justify so that the table starts about and inch from the left.(oh, stylesheets are disabled on my system...)Anyone ideas? Thanks, Ed

Hello,I am attempting to modify and save a DTD within the Arbortext Architect DTD Editor6.0 on Windows 7 (64 bit). However, whenever I try and save the DTD, I get "ERROR: could not write DTD file C:\***.dtd".I have checked permissions on this folder and even tried moving and writing to it on a different drive, but each time I get the same error.Has anyone else encountered this ?All works OK on previous versions. Thanks,Andy

Adepters:When a user copies and pastes content from one document to another and the target document does not have definitions for entity references in the copied content, Arbortext Editor auto-defines these entities and inserts them in the internal subset. How do I stop this behavior. We want Arbortext to immediately report an error for undefined entities and turn off context rules.Dave HintzSiemens
If I open an XML file and make an edit in Arbortext Editor (5.3),Arbortext inserts a comment tag before the root element.Example (before):<whydid><para>This is before.</para></whydid>After opening the above XML in Editor and then changing the para text, one has:<whydid><para>This is after.</para></whydid>I'd like to deactivate the insertion of the comment. Hey folks, I spent about 20 minutes on the PTC site looking for the sign up information for Adepters. I know I'm getting older, vision problems (NOT), memory lapses (no comment) and such, but I just could not find it. I am trying to get the sign up information to a lady with a PE problem (or two or three) so she can get some good help with her problem. So anyone who does have that info, please post it and cc the lady in my 'cc' address so she can get it too. Many thanks.Lynn
When we open a topic in our ditamap the file pops open almost immediately, but then the we get a not responding and after about a minute of waiting the resource manager pops up and now you can do something. Is this normal, issue with style sheet?, issue with program? If you go to the ditamap and open a another topic, it renders the complete program useless for another minute or so while it opens the other topic. Is this how it is supposed to be? Also when you are adding a content reference does it more that a minute to generate the list. My desktop system is not bad (E5620 @ 2.4 with 20gb ram) 64 bit operating system. We are running 6.0 m40, our style sheet development started in 5.4 then we upgraded to 6 and the style sheet followed in development.Any comments would be appreciated.Bryon
Hi,We are seeing a gray background behind some of the PNG graphics when we Preview a topic. Does anyone know what is causing this? Thanks!Arbortext 6.0 M010Service Manual ApplicationAPP installed--------------------------------------------------7/23/12 Update, but no solution. If we save the PNG graphics without transparency, the gray background disappears. With transparency, the gray shows up. Does this trigger any ideas? We would hope that "transparent background" means just that. How odd to have a background show up when it is supposed to be invisible.
I'm trying to work out the number of seconds it takes for a macro to run.I set two variables - time_start = ticks() time_end = ticks()To work out the total time in seconds I want to take away time_start from time_end (and divide by 60) but it gives an error. Is this because they are strings? If so, can they be converted to floats for the calculation? In a previous life, the ME10 macro language had a "val" function that would convert a string to a value (float I presume). Is there a way round it in IML?
Hi all,Is there anything that I'm not getting, in that migrating a (standalone - non server, old generic print composer workstation) system to Arbortext Editor 6.0 Build M040 would cause us to lose XML source edit and touchup capability (ACL newpage, newline commands)? If so, is our only recourse to revert to build M010?Am I the only one frustrated with advancing software builds that remove (instead of add) capabilities within an existing software product line?Someone throw me a life ring before I toss this system and software out my 3rd story window to the gutter (where I often think it belongs.)All insights and advice appreciated. Thanks in advance for reading and replies.Regards,Bob WilliamsEast Providence RI, USEMail addy robert.williams@techresearchgroup.com
I see that the reltable element is only displayed when a DITA map is saved as HTML. How can I have links display when the DITA map is saved as a PDF?Thanks!
Thanks for all the help provided so far.If anyone has seen my previous threads, we are in a pickle trying to get our system up and running with limited resources. The current project is trying to utilize stylesheets and customizations from our parent company to output xml books given to us by them. This is proving to be a hefty challenge with many trials, and without manageable goals. Our current thought process is, can we just write our own sheets in APP, and use their xml files according to our sheets. With that thought, here are my questions:When I open xml files that are part of the ditamap, without using the stylesheet from our parent company, there are still stylesheet commands implied (in purple), even though not defined. Do I need to strip the XML files of this, or what would be the thought there? If I apply a different stylesheet, these undefined styles are still there.I've asked this before, but does anyone know where to learn more about APP style? (our parent company used styl
We are having a little trouble with our PDF's making the round trip from PDMLink (10.0 M30 not sure that matters as we had similar problems with 9.1) to PE and back to PDMLink. PE is making the PDF but PDMLink just doesn't always get it back. Any help or I've been there will greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.Brian
Still trying to chase down differences between those that do, those thatdon't, but was wondering in advance if anyone saw/fixed tables, generatedor otherwise, that broke just fine before an upgrade to 6.0.-- Paul Nagai
Hello All,I used language support in the styler to translate English to German for the generated texts in the stylesheet. I imported XLF file which has the rules/notes for the translation. All the element generated texts are working fine. But Header/Footer generated text is NOT working. still the English content is showing in the output.Could you anyone please help me to find the reason.I have attached xlf file. See line 837 which has the header generated content.Note: I am using AT-Styler 6.0 M040 and APP engine used for producing PDF.Thanks,BALA AJ
Here's a quick quiz to check everyone's knowledge 🙂What's the simplest way to get a copy of the Resolved Document for Styling for a given DITA map? XSLT via an identity template? Sneaky tricks with .aptcache?[cid:image001.jpg@01CD6377.8CD575B0]Gareth Oakes+44-7557-300-608
I stumbled across some code, or one of my authors did, that is behavingdifferently in 6.0 than in 5.3.In 5.3, a package with _STRICT_=1 operates "silently" but in 6.0 the debugwindow opens and displays warnings regarding the implicit declaration ofvariables. The 6.0 behavior seems, actually, to be correct, but I can'tquite figure out why it is behaving differently than 5.3.At this point, not a biggee, just a curiosity.-- Paul Nagai
