Hi everyone,We're in the process of switching over to a new server (Arbortext PE 5.3 patch M190 on a Windows Server 2003) and most languages are working ok with the exception of Chinese Simplified and Korean.I've done some comparisons of the setups between the two servers and everything from font timestamps, to ccf/pdfcf configurations to FOSI's all appear identical. Our print doctypes are FOSI-driven. The Korean FOSI does not specify any font family names, rather just the font style, size, posture, etc. We rely on tfontsub.cf to map the Korean fonts ("windowsonly:" section):#Korean:Serif/kor -> BatangSanserif/kor -> DotumMonoser/kor -> BatangCheMonosans/kor -> DotumCheWe have manually reinstalled the Batang and Golim TrueType font collections (which include the above named fonts) and rebooted the server. We continue to get errors from the direct-to-PDF log, such as: Cannot load font: Batang, type=SYS, encoding=unicode, tfm=Batang.rrruWe have identical setups for Japanese an

I've embedded Arbortext Editor 5.4 in an ActiveX control in an HTML page as described in the Customizer's Guide (p. 183) and in samles/web-integration/embedded_scripting.html.My question is, how to get access to the AOM/DOM of a document loaded in the ActiveX control from the HTML page embedding the Arbortext Editor control using JavaScript/JScript?Here is the relevant part of my HTML page:...<object id="editor" classid="clsid:3990811F-C23D-448E-B893-54549C334960"height="100%" width="100%"><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" for="editor"> var documentFlags = 0x0000; var windowFlags = 0x949FF; var aclWindowId; function OpenDoc(docUrl) { aclWindowId = editor.open(docUrl, documentFlags, windowFlags); }</script>...What should I do now with the window id returned by the open method to access the AOM/DOM?Any help will be appreciated.Roman
Does anyone know how I can control the headings thatare shown in the UI?i.e. Title, Location and RankI also may want to populate the Location column with variable data.
Hi All,I am pretty new to Arbortext. I am not getting a fair idea about following,1.How we can use Arbortext for generating manuals by taking data from Windchill?2.What is Bursting? Could you Please let me know what this term exactly means? How this is achieved in using Arbortext and Windchill?3.What are the guides I need to refer to achieve this functionality? Thanks in Advance for your Time, Manisha
Our illustration group is looking to move to the use of lines with arrows for some of our dimensional callouts (we've used dots in the past). One of the problems that we've run into is that the request requires the use of 1/2 point lines. Utilizing the preset start and end options we're are not getting small enough arrows for the purpose. Is there a way to set another end style? I see there is a range of 0-46, but no way to add or alter one. I have a feeling this may be an SPR, but wanted to pose the question to the community first. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.
I have a macro that writes filenames to a text file using fwrite. However, I don't want repeats, so want to check that the filename doesn't already exist in the text file before writing it.I use the fwrite command but can't find a corresponding read command. Is this possible within the macros?
Hi All,Using Arbortext 5.4, I want to set up a centralized zipped configuration. I have set up a deploydirectory, as instructed in the documentation, with the APTDEPLOYPATH variable pointing to it. Thesite directory in this deploy directory contains the siteprefs.xml and the custom.zip file. So farso good. Now in the siteprefs.xml file I want to point to the APTMENUFILE environment variable atour custom menu configuration file editmenu.cf. Let's say that this file lives under custom\lib.The documentation says "For any preference that has a path in it’s value, you can use a special %Scharacter in the path to represent the .aptcache\site\lib directory." Now that's fine, except thatI guess this refers to a compact installation, while this is a full installation and the zippedcustomization is unpacked to something like C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\PTC\Arbortext\Editor\.aptcache\zc\1.Does anyone know of a similar "special character" or other method that
Hiya all,Here is your Friday afternoon puzzler. Copy, set paste=mybuf, setpaste=default, paste behaves differently when the copy source is insideEditor instead of outside of Editor. 5.3 m110.Here is my "outside of Editor copy source" use case:1) Open Editor.2) Copy text from any source outside of Editor.3) set paste=mybuf4) Copy text within Editor.5) set paste=default6) Paste. This command fails because the clipboard is empty. Here is my "inside of Editor copy source" use case:1) Open Editor.2) Copy text from within Editor.3) set paste=mybuf4) Copy text within Editor.5) set paste=default6) Paste. This command pastes the material copied in step 2.I don't think the outside of Editor copy source step 6 should fail. Am I notunderstanding some feature-ness of named buffers or do you agree that thisis unexpected behavior?-- Paul Nagai
Are there any PTC classes for IsoDraw? I am interested in getting some training. I would be interested in both classroom or online classes. I have gone through the tutorials and I really think I could get more from a structured class. So does anyone know of any classes out there? Thanks,Keith Howard
Hi James,Is it possible (or on your road map for future features) to support aQueryinteracting with datamerge?-- Paul Nagai
I would like to add messages in some of my macros, but want them to stay on screen for a set period and then disappear rather than having to click on them. Can this be done?
Hello!I use Java (the plugin is made) for modifying the content of the opened XML/SGML files (Arbortext 5.2).How should I modify the color of the nodes (I mean programming mode)? As far as I'm concerned, the usage of _font nodes is forbidden (a-la <_font>text</_font>). At least it leads to errors in SGML.Then we should use processing instructions (PI). How should we create them? The standard Java DOM method createProcessingInstruction() does not work when we deal with SGML.I think that it's because of the different format of PIs in SGML and XML.Should we use Acl OID commands/functions (goto_oid, insert_tag)?But I have met the problem of incorrect cursor positioning after Application.messageBox execution in the onclick event handler.1)calling dialog via Application.messageBox(...)2)getting the first oid of the required node3)Setting cursor before the start tag via "goto_oid(oid,-2)".4) Trying to insert PI via "it _font" command. It leads to splitting textnode in fact.If I comm
Testing 5.3 on a virtural Win7 pc and I get the following error:[A12480]Arbortext Editor was not able to obtain a license for your use. Feature Arbotext Editor:unable to find and read license file. (have you run the License Administrator program?) I ran the License Adminstrator and there is a 6005.lic with the correct key in the license directory.I have reinstalled and changed keys with the same error.Any ideas? Thanks for your help.
When we have finished or amended each of our Isodraw drawings, we export a CGM version of the file for use by our authors. We never edit CGM versions of our drawings, they are just used as a convenient format to add to Word documents. We've found through experience that an old version of CGM works best for us - "Model Profile (ISO 8632:1992/Am.1: 1994)".But, because it is an old format, it pops up an error message saying it doesn't support things like callouts or object infos.I have a macro that creates the CGM files and saves them in the right directory, but it always pops up the warning message. Is there a way to suppress the error message?
Hi,Support has said that datamerge is working as designed by returning (as stored in the database) as and that it is up to me to convertmarkup from < to < on output via the XSLT. That conversation is ongoing.BUT if one of you XSL gurus knows how to do this, maybe I can leave supportalone.I have tried swapping the overall output method to text (that was a hailmary) and believe this is the "best" answer but it fails: <xsl:value-of select="translate(self::node(),'&lt;','&lt;')"&lt;br"/>disable-output-escaping="yes"/>The following "works" in that it returns the string to Editor with a ! wherethere should be a < so the select and the translate are working: <xsl:value-of select="translate(self::node(),'&lt;','!')"&lt;br"/>disable-output-escaping="yes"/>All attempts to use the < fail with the following:FATAL ERROR:javax.xml.transform. TransformerException: Error reported by XML parser.ERROR:Failed to update query: (my query name)com.arbortext.
It looks like the stylesheet parameter has not been provided in the composition parameters array: you only specify outputFile please try to specify the stylesheet full path and stylesheet type as well. That is: the three required parameters to perform batch composition are outputFile, stylesheet, stylesheetTypeThe first two should be absolute paths, the third should be "style" if using Stylersheets.
Greetings,I'm looking for anyone who has had experience working with the linenum() function while processing documents - particularly with tables.A function in our software creates XSLFO in order to generate a PDF. Prior to going to a PDF, we generate FOSI and feed the document into the linenum() function which counts the lines of content so we can determine how much content is on a page. This works great, until we reach tables, especially tables which span pages. Here, it either ignores the table, or causes an inaccurate count. This is especially true of tables which have a <thead>.Using Arbortext PE 1.8 (Arbortext 5.3 150)Any suggestions or help appreciated.Michael Friedman
I have remote users that currently conntect to a Windows 2000 Metaframe XP server, which shares Epic Editor 5.1. I have been tasked with upgrading our old Metaframe XP server to a Citrix XenApp 6.0 on a 64 bit Windows 2008 R2 server. That's fine. But, once I try to load Epic 5.1, the installer reports "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows that you are running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit) version of the program, then contact the program vendor. My server and OS are 64 bit, so that's what I need... but I am having a hard time finding if I can patch 5.1 or if I need to upgrade to a newer editor. My main problem is that it is very difficult to get my client to upgrade software. Any time we do that, it starts a very long testing and acceptance process. If there is any way to get 5.1 to work, it would be very helpful. Any advise is appreciated!
I have an implementation of Arbortext Editor 5.2, and I'm noticing that non-breaking spaces are being handled differently than all of my other character entities. Specifically, if I choose NOT to show special characters as symbols, all other character entities are shown as tags, but non-breaking spaces are still shown as spaces. In addition, I have a script that uses Range.ToMarkupString to parse some of the content, and any other character entitities appear as the appropriate XML markup. Non-breaking spaces appear as a single character (ASC 160). However, if I copy the relevant content to the clipboard and paste it into Notepad, I get the non-breaking space as .As far as I can tell, everything I'm doing is treating the nbsp the same as my other char entities, but Arbortext is doing something different with it. Am I missing something? Is there anything I can do to make the nbsp behave like the other character entities? Thanks,Rebecca DahlmanProject Performance Corporation
Hi all,I'm having a problem with Styler expressing whitespace in our PDF output. Please see the following code snippet and attached jpg of the output. When I manually remove the spaces between the para and section end tags, I have no problem. It seems that I should be able to strip the space somehow. I admit that the code is a little messy, but is there a way to ignore the whitespace in our output? We're using a FOSI-based Styler stylesheet. Hello all,I am looking for an ACL function that will interrogate the DTD and tell me whether a given element is contextually correct for insertion before the first element in the exising SGML document. I know that the insert_tag function returns 1 on success and 0 on failure, but I need to know whether an element can be inserted in the current context before the insert_tag function is called. For example, the current docuement may contain only <section> elements which in turn contain <para> elements. For the sake of this example, lets say that <section elements can only be wrapped by <book> elements and not <magazine> elements. If the user executes a custom ACL function designed to wrap the current document in a <magazine> parent element, I want to systematically determine that this is an invalid action and notify the user before calling the insert_tag function and reacting to its error status.I’ve read about the content_model function that returns the c
Has anyone tried / succeeded returning XML markup from a datamerge? My < arebeing converted to < in the resulting markup.Data source is Excel.QueryType=FreeformI also noticed that the data type determination appears faulty. If I havethe following data in a column:512 MB1 GB12The 12 is not returned. If all rows in the column are numeric, the 12 isreturned. Setting the Excel cells to Text (instead of General) has noimpact.-- Paul Nagai
