I am looking how to check in/out Arbortext files within Windchill. The type of files we deal with are .ditamap, .dita and .iso files.  Also, stylesheets too. We want these arbortext files to act as like our Creo CAD files…………able check in/out , creates iterations and revisions, etcAre there settings within Windchill to make this happen?   Any help would be great.

Hi Folks--I know that in previous versions of PE (<=6.x), XSL-FO support was implemented in a multi-stage approach, where the document is transformed into XSL-FO markup, and then a dynamically generated FOSI is used to create the final output. Can anyone verify whether that is still the case in PE 7.0? There was talk a while back of developing XSL-FO support via APP rather than via FOSI, but I haven't heard whether that actually went anywhere.Thanks!--Clay

Hello,In my ACL script, I need to create a dialog box to include multiple check boxes so users can select either one or more items from it.  Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to know those items ahead of time.  I'll have to open a SGML/XML file and collect all the possible selections, then create multiple check boxes for it.  Because of that, I went back to Arbortext online help to see if any other alternatives could fit my needs.  So the list_response() command was found.  But it seems to support single-selection list box only, not multiple-selection one.  Could anyone help me on it? Dear All,The image defined in each chapter has to be in the format like "<ChapNo >- <Imageno > " where Imageno = (nth+1) position of Image.Ex: If Chapter1 has 3 images , the text below 3rd image should show 1-3. Similaryl if the 3rdchapter has 1 image it should be 3-1.The constrain I have here is to reset the imageno to Zero when a new Chapter starts. Pls advise how to do it.Regards,Sriram Rammohan

Dear Users,Is it possible to add a frame for a element that is styled to be a block .So that the pdf looks like surrounded with frame (customisable) for the specific element. Has anyone had problems with the fonts or the tags in Arbortext appearing either way too small or way too big? If so, has the size of either changed every time you opened a new document?I have been having issues where every time I open a document, my tags appear enormous and my text so small you can't read it. If you zoom in to read the text, the tags get even bigger and take up the whole screen, making it difficult to author. If I close out of the document and reopen it, the tags are bigger than the last time, and the text even smaller.I tried using the suggestions in another thread that was actually started on my behalf and met with limited success. (Changing tag display size in Arbortext Editor)If I set my preferences to match those of my teammates, it looks like this:In order to make the text readable, I can use the "set fontpercent=" function, but have to put it at something crazy like 200 or higher. Is there a way to publish a ditamap so keeps the formatting of the publication but only publishes the images?ThanksBryon

I'm working on a file that uses the MIL-STD-3001 XML standard. When I open the file in Arbortext, it turns context rules off, telling me that an element is out of context.  Looking at the DTDs, that element is a valid child element of the parent that contains it.  Deactivating and reactivating the style sheet sometimes allows me to turn context rules back on, but the problem comes back when I open the file. Has anyone else had this experience?  Any troubleshooting tips?

  Greetings all,   In an effort to improve both content and change management within our technical publications. We’d like to know if there’s a way to map service parts to any service manual referencing that particular part/s? . That is to say if a specific bolt or nut Is used across 20+ products how can we link the respect service manual to that part via PDMLink or Service Information Manager? . Which extension or native feature of Windchill allows us to do this? Can we map service instructions and parts lists to that part, so that when a change is made, that change (whether a quantity change or the obsolescence of the part)  is reflected in that service manual’s service instructions and parts lists ?   Manuals will be authored, and published via Arbortext and the Publishing Engine.     Thanks,   -Steve 

Dear Users,If i start my pdf manual coverpage with "Even page" it is in turn creating a blank page in left.If i make it as "Odd Page" it works fine but disturbs my front of back coverpage.Is there a way to eliminate the blank page that is created sa first page followed by chapter page.Regards,SR

When I try to check out a topic in SDL publication manager using Author IT, I get the following error --[A31517] This installation of Arbortext Editor does not support the -styler command line argument.The topic checks out but does not open in Arbortext.

One of our writers gets a Debug message every time she opens Arbortext Editor. The message is: Warning: Could not find the application's symbol font. It will not be possible to display certain symbols and icons. What does the message means? How come that only one user in our team get this message. All users use the same Arbortext version. /Anette

Hi,I have a FOSI for a document type which generates an LEP.The LEP is generated by outputting the relevant page info from the pagespecs I have defined and it works fine.However, what I don't have is any hotlink between the LEP entries and the matching pages.I tried setting  the 'hotlink' and 'status' attributes as I have for the TOC but to no effect.I am beginning to think this is a limitation of generating the LEP content from the page spec rather than from the elements in the content as I have done for the TOC.Does anybody know of a way to achieve hotlinks from the LEP entries?ThanksAdrian Jordin

I did a search and replace in multiple files in a text editor then when I opened the files in Arbortext I see line feeds after all of my elements and my tables will no longer display correctly is why this happening.?
