XLIFF and potentially XML:TM are both critical to maintaining control over your translations and avoiding unnecessary costs. Simply sending content through Trados is the least effective method you could pursue, since you will be at the mercy of the translation memory (errors, lack of updates, etc.).As the chair of the OASIS DITA Translation Subcommittee, I can assure you that the list of items you've created in your email is the right one to pursue. Whether or not Windchill supports any of this—I really couldn't say. If you can export a DITA map (if you're using DITA), you can convert the map to XLIFF and send one file to your LSP, rather than many. XLIFF should also work fine with DocBook files. I am curious if there is a file size limitation with IsoDraw 7.1. I am trying to open a larger TIF file in IsoDraw. The TIF file is 36mb when I attempt to open the file I get a dialog box with the following error message; The memeory is full. Please close some windows or allocate more memory! (Then list the filename)I have closed all windows except for IsoDraw same results. I have tried allocating more memory, same results. I do not know what to try next. Here are the system specs: Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 3 4gb ram 250 gb HDD with 200 gb free space Video Card is ATI Radeon HD 2400 XTThe file appears fine I can open the file with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I can insert the file into AutoCAD 2008 with no problems. I have opened TIF files with IsoDraw before with no problems. The only thing I can think is there must be some sort of file size that IsoDraw can handle up to a certain limit.I appreciate any and all help with this problem.Thanks,Keith

Hello all, quick win7 question; I am testing an installation of 5.4 M080 on a VM slice running Win7. What I am seeing when I start Arbortext is the cannot locate DTD/Schemaerror on startup before the window loads. It's looking for"C:\Users\Public\Desktop\macros.dtd". I have my APTCUSTOM set to point to a server location. I tried settingAPTPATH to point explicitly at the install tree, but nothing seems toprevent the error. If I just select "Open in free-form" the window opens normally with noissues that I can see (we haven't been using macros, so I didn't trythem out). Anyone have an idea of what may be causing this? We recently upgraded Epic 5.1 to Editor 5.4 for our application.We noticed that when we edit an xml file, this generate a <fileName>.xml.cache file.Important: to edit our xml files, we use a website which downloads the xml file on the local computer. At the moment, we can not assure that this .cache file is generate by AEditor. It may be generated by the website.Does someone know if this file is generated by AEditor 5.4 ? If so, we are wondering about the use of this file. Where can we find some help about this ?Thanks.

Hi,I have a problem concerning the xpath functions within Arbortext Editor. I use a valid xpath to get the OID with the acl function xpath_nodeset(..) but I recieve a wrong oid when I use processing instructions (touch ups).This example should explain the problem:<?Pub _font FontColor="#c61515"?> <ROW> <CELL COL="1" TYPE="HEADER">Datum der Annahme des Beschlusses</CELL > <CELL COL="2"><DATE ISO="20100506">6.5.2010</DATE></CELL> </ROW><?Pub /_font?>With the function xpath_valid("(/ROW/CELL[2]") I receive true (1) but when trying to get the OID of this cell I have to use _font in my XPATH expression. But this should not act like this. The processing instruction is handled by Arbortext like a XML tag. xpath_nodeset($arr, "/ROW/CELL[2]") should return the OID of the cell and not xpath_nodeset($arr, "/_font/ROW/CELL[2]")!Does anybody had the same problem or should I use a other function? Good Morning!Haven't seen anything even close to this one:Most of our DTDs have a significant portion of their content in entities (in some cases, all but the root element). This promotes, of course, the use of the same structure for a given purpose across all doctypes.Our problem is, when we deliver data, we deliver a copy of the then-current doctype DTD as well. This means someone must gather up copies of all the needed entities, as well as the main doctype file. That has proven to mildly error-prone.We tested using Architect or Editor to flatten the entities ('doc_flatten all'), but without success. The former has no Command Line in the requisite window, and the latter insists on loading a DTD as an ASCII file, in which case 'doc_flatten' has no effect.Thoughts? I need to add the facility to post the latest issue at the footer per page as opposed to per section/chapter within a manual.The issue is taken from a change element's issno attribute value. As there may be several changes per page, I need to get the latest change for each page. If a page has not been changed, it retains issue 1 in the footer.I know this has not been possible with Editor in the past as the issue number could not be resetfollowing the up issued page as there is no way of determining page end; the latest issue just ran on to subsequent pages until the next issue changed it.Does anyone know whether this has now been resolved so that changes per page can easily be supported ?Thanks,Andy

Hi,I'm testing Arbortext Editor 5.4 M080 (Windows environment).I'm trying to render the "no-break space' (U+00A0) to "underscore" (U+0332) so there can be seen a difference in the editor between a normal space and a no-break space. This is only for viewing purposes so the underlying character in the file should not be affected.I tried to do this by copying the files:c:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor\lib\charent.cfc:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor\lib\charmap.cfto another place and reference them with the environment variables:APTCHENTPATH ......\lib\charent.cfAPTCHENTMAP ......\lib\charmap.cfand to the changes in these copied files.Unfortunately I don't succeed to tackle this.Can somebody explain how to do this or what I'm doing wrong?I would like to do this for 2 environments:- An sgml environment where the no-break space is coded as the named character entity - An xml environment where the no-break space is encoded as an UTF-8 encoded character (not as an entity but the 2 byt

The customer wants a tabbed dialog in Editor. I made a nice XUI dialogwith atabbox with several tabpanels. We need an event to occur when a tab isclicked. We placed a <script with=" ev:event="DOMActivate"> inside atabpanel with an Application.alert but nothing ever happens onclicking the tabpanel- no error, nothing is wrong with the xui or thejavascript, - we have tried setting ev:event to all the availableevents but nothing ever happens on click. -Anybody got any ideas as tohow to fire off some code from a tabpanel? - or has anybody found that aDOMActivate <script> doesn't work inside a tabpanel?... seems likeclicking a tab would be a DOM activation but maybe not...? BeforeHello.Using Arbortext Epic 5.1, I am trying to incorporate REV bars in a file. I figured out that if I enter (1) one in the inschlvl field in a table, the rev bar will show up after publish. When I try to print the track from the viewer, the rev bar goes from one column, to the rest of the row....I don’t know why. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks

I am having a problem with my underline element in that it is not underlining the hyphen if a word gets hyphenated at the end of a line. I know the scorespc="1" in this snippet <highlt scoring="1" scorespc="1" scorestyle="single"/"> makes the spaces and commas in underlined text be underlined as well as the actual text but is there any way to get the hyphen to be underlined as well? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a need for knowing when a user clicks mousedown over the graphic being displayed.   I have used config events to enable mouse events I understand I need a callback function of MouseDown(Button, Shift, x, y). I am not at all sure how to tell isoview where my callback function can be found.   I have not been able to connect all the dots to make it work. Can anyone send me some code examples of how they did it ?   Thankyou.

Hi, Does anyone know what the pixel dimensions are (L x W) for a Logotype inthe header of an S1000D document? I took a look in the spec but itdoesn't seem to mention it anywhere apart from a vague reference to a 32mm or 50 mm width in the header, Chap 6.2.1. Graphics can apparently bea minimum of 300 dpi. Would it be possible to do the following ?When I open a iso file the object list contains the following name values for the object for example: Bn0001_prt or Bn0333_asm1. Remove all values starting from the underscore in the name attribute ?2. The Object list may contain 200 objects3. I know this is a bit of a goofy question, but does anyone know what portnumber is in use when Arbortext reads or writes files from a regular(non-HTTP/WebDAV) file system? Trying some exception testing with Riverbed, and the admin asked mewhich specific port is being used when Arbortext does read/writeoperations. Thanks, -Jason A. Buss
