Adepters:I've installed AE 6.0 patch M030 for some evaluation. One thing I notice is that my center mouse scroll button no longer works. It worked in AE 5.4 and works in every other application I use. It works in any AE sub-window I open (text entity dialog box, advanced preferences, etc.), but not in the main edit window.Any ideas what I need to do to enable that?DaveSiemens

Thought it would be easy. Gave the monitor team the f=convert URL fore3demo.xml to html. Modified the XML to say, "Tell mother I feel fine" (ok,not really, but something like that in business speak) but for some reasonthe monitor, which is allegedly watching for text on the results page,false positives at least a couple of times a day. (It's on a 15 minutecycle with a 5 minute allowed response time ... typically the page willdisplay in under a minute ... if we consume our processing threads, though,it could conceivable take more.)The monitor team is saying it is the fact that the page is generated, not"plain html" that is likely the cause. This makes no sense to me if it'sjust watching the resulting loaded page. But maybe my knowledge of thesubtleties of HTTP is lacking. So we're telling the monitor to watch forthe HTTP 200 Response code for now. They have suggested I modify the scriptto do the conversion and report OK or FAIL depending on the outcome. Does somebody knows how to read Excell table by ACL code? I need to read an Excell table which is looking as Illustrated Part Catalog, that is it contains rows with cells: callout_number, number_part, name_part, quantity.Firstly task is looked simple: I saved Excell like csv file and then read lines of csv file as text file by ACL code. But some cells of origin Excell table containes few lines of text in one cell: 2 or 3 or even 4 lines of text, which have been separated by new lineseparator. In such case a string of csv file is interrupted in the separator place and it begins from new line. What would cause the Host ID on a particular machine to change?I have a user that was using editor version 6.0 M040 on an MS Windows XP machine for about the last three weeks including earlier this morning. This user rebooted the machine because Outlook seemed to be running slowly. An attempt to use editor after the reboot has failed with a Licensing Error dialog. We are using node-locked licensing with 'PTC_D_LICENSE_FILE' pointing to the file provided by PTC (lm_<some number=">_standard.txt) stored on the machine's C:\ drive. The Host ID being reported on this error dialog is different from the one submitted to get the original license file.The user is not trying to remotely connect to this PC which I know from earlier posts is not supported using this 'improved' license manager.Any clues? I'm using schematron to extend the check completeness functionality for DITA topics. Is there a way to make a XUI dialog textbox render HTML?, like specifically anchor tags with URIs in them?I know there's a method for just displaying HTML in a help dialog (like for custom help), but I'm looking at something interactive, that calls a COM object, and the return from that call may have an HTML link to an intranet site. In the documentation for the doc_add_callback() function, callback type "completeness_check ", it says that "This callback can add reports to the event log". Any idea how that can be done? Okay, I learned the other day that the 'clear_stylesheets' will clear loadedstyle sheet files from the memory. Now I am playing with schema changes.I've made some fairly major changes and put the updated schema into a newfolder. What I need now is figure out how to change my test file from using the oldschema. I have removed the system identifier and the schemaLocationinformation from the file, but Epic still insists on using the originalschema rather than saying it cannot find a DTD/schema.I could copy files around so the new files are in the current path, but thenI will confuse myself (and I don't need help doing that anymore) as to whichis which. This topic is being posted just in case it may help others debug a problem similar to that described here. The problem occurs only under remote access of the editor under a remote desktop or Citrix server environment where the editor window is presented on a local system but the editor process is running on a remote system. Feel free to ignore this posting if it doesn't apply to your environment.There's no need for trying to help with further resolution of this problem because we have come up with a work around to it. The problem has been submitted to PTC Support under Case 11060550. That case is now closed because the problem couldn't be reproduced by PTC support. Hello all,We recently rehosted our windchill system, and moved our PE custom files and application to another host on the same domain. Everything syncs up fine and works,except for one custom font utilized by one of our groups.The font was not in the system fonts folder, so I added it. Just to be safe I closed PE and restarted the services, and tried again. The same font is available, but when printed with the Stylesheet it substitutes it. The stylesheet worked with this font in the source system.Anyone know where in the stylesheet or program there would be a break in this font working correctly?THanks, any help appreciated.Working with PE 5.4 M140.

Fellow Adepters:I am maintaining a configuration using AE 5.3 M010 (yes it's getting aged) where each author has a locally licensed copy of the AE application on their PC. The SGML files that are being edited are located on a separate Unix server. The users also share a common custom directory structure on the Unix server and it works quite nicely most of the time.We are starting to see some file locking issues and for the life of me I cannot understand how AE is maintaining the lock status when two individuals, from their separate PCs, are trying to open the same file. The application does indeed flag the second user when the file is already being open, however I am seeing occasional cases where the file is being flagged as open when no one else has a copy opened.How and where does AE maintain the file open status? Hello,We're testing 6.0, hopfully implementing soon. There's one thing that bugs me that I can't find a setting for. By default, Arbortext is now collapsing the metadata tag and its sub tags for DITA maps and bookmaps, <topicmeta> and <bookmeta>.Does anyone know how I can disable this? My users need to fill in several metadata tags, making them expand all of these tags each time they need to change something will be a headache for them, and will probably cause them to forget or not bother.Thanks.

I added some hatching to my illustration last night (CGM_Hatching_2) and this morning, opened the illustration up again and added another block of the same hatching. They are different - the spacing and even the angle are different. I tried changing both hatchings to something else and back to CGM_Hatching_2 but they stayed the same - i.e. different!I hope there is some logical reason for that - can anyone let me know?I did notice that if I switched off the new hatching and switched it back on again, it corrected itself, but why was it different in the first place?Our other illustrators have said "never use hatching in Isodraw", so I'm wondering if they are right.

Hello all,I'm trying to create a manual using Arbortext 6.0 - M050.I have to insert some table which are often in A3 / landscape pageset.The pageset rules are :- if one table is in A3 pageset and followed by a "normal" node, i've to insert a blank A3 page - if the previous node is a A3 table, I must not insert a break between the two.For now I'm able to insert the blank A3 page . But if i've several A3 table in a row (4 in my test) :- the first one switch to A3 pageset (OK)- the second is on a new A4 pageset (Not OK)-the third is just below the second (no break) -the 4th is just below the third (no break + creating the blank page). (OK)How can I make the inheritance of the A3 attributes from page to page ?Thanks in advance ...

Hi,we try to use the direct PDF feature with the Arbortext Editor 5.4 M140 and Print Publisher (client side).Some EPS graphics are using non standard fonts.These fonts are not embedded inside the PDF-File and are replaced by the Courier font.When using the distiller instead of direct PDF no problem occur.Listing these fonts under the <embedalways> element in PDFCF-file has no effect.So I searched the Customization Guide and found the Procedure"Adding Fonts Used By Graphics" -> "To add TTF fonts"When I start the command: instfonts TTFINSTALL ... Hello everyone,I'm working with Styler 6.0 M050. I'm looking for a way to use the _nolinebreak PI within gentext. Since PIs are stripped in gentext, I cannot find a way to retain this PI. I cannot find a _nolinebreak equivalent within custom touchup.If anyone has any thoughts on this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!As an addendum to this. I have a feeling that I'm missing something regarding handling PCF files for profiling.We have many document sets that are created in DocBook and DITA, where each document set hasdifferent profiling requirements.As far as I can see, the PCF file that defines the valid profiling values has to bein /custom/doctypes/axdocbook or /custom/doctypes/ditabase (or in some other fixed location definedin the DCF file).Currently we swap out the PCF file under /custom/doctypes/ according to the document set that we areworking with.This is cumbersome. Have I missed something basic here? Just for example, I would have expectedthat a PCF in the same folder as the XML file would be used in preference to the PCF fileunder /custom/doctypes but that does not appear to be the case.Any suggestions?MartinKongsberg Maritimewww.km.kongsberg.com

I've read through the Epic 'help' on support for the FO attribute'background-image' and I am still having difficulty in getting one toappear.What I am trying to do is have one of two graphics appear on a page. Forthose familiar with MIL-SPEC TMs, it is the emergency page border. I have apage set for emergency pages, and setting the attribute on an<fo:region-body> does not seem to be working. Our illustration lead has identified approximately 3,000 IsoDraw files that she'd like to get into Windchill. I've been tracking down a batch method of getting them in.I've been informed that there is not an out-of-the-box method of importing the files. I've played with a couple options, but here are the problems with each. Any thoughts on either approach?1) Use the batch tool in IsoDraw to save the files to the workspace. Problem encountered here is that it appears by using the batch tool if works around the Windchill connection and thus it does not update the workspace in Windchill. Any idea on how to use the batch tool and update the workspace at the same time?2) The other route was a simple cmd batch script to call against each file that opens, runs a macro to save to the workspace, and then close. Problem here is that if a user with a different font set created any of the files each file prompts on open of the font issue. Is there a way to bypass this error? Perhaps a param to ign

Is there a way (within ACL?) to change the order in which attributes appear in the MODIFY ATTRIBUTES dialog box?Hypothetical: There's a tag called CSN. It has 5 attributes: Chapter Number, Section Number, Unit Number, Figure Number, and Item Number (that's how you can find the part in the part catalog index elsewhere in the manual).Based on the DTD, Arbortext knows the five attributes. So when I enter a tag, Arbortext wants me to populate those five fields. But I guess it displays the attributes in alphabetical order (not the way they appear in the text or the way users remember or speak them).
