Arbortext

Hello, I use .cgm files created in isodraw. These graphics have vector elements with text. When I publish the file which contain these cgm graphics, they appear in raster format and the text is also not searchable. I find this problem with AE 6 and AE 7. This was not the case in AE 5.3, 5.4. Any settings that I need to change? Regards, Nim

Greetings,I would like to change the default option for the Show select list for the Link/Xref and Content Reference tabs in the Resource Manager to be "All elements with IDs" as this is the only option that I use. Without this customization, I have to continually change the Show select option.I have been able to do this by hacking Arbortext\Editor\application\com.arbortext.dita\dialogs\ResourceManagerDlg.xml to change the default option, but I am wondering if there is a way to do this with a Preferences setting or using an environment variable, such as APTCUSTOM? I would like to share this with other users on my team, but I would prefer to maintain the customization outside the Arbortext\Editor installation folder so that my users don't have to muck around with those files after they install.I am running on version 5.3 M120. Any thoughts or pointers are appreciated.-Mark

Is there a way for an author to publish a pdf that identifies where profiling is applied (either from a ditamap or topic)? While we can view tag attributes to see where the profiles are used in Arbortext, it's extremely helpful to see profile usage within an entire document, similar to other programs where profiled text is published with a different font color in a pdf. Appreciate the help!

We would like to customize the view in the Resource manager for better performance OR create a whole new modified resource manager just for linking. Currently it takes a long time to load up the docked RM in order to insert xref tags with href links because it loads a lot of options that we never use i.e. a long list of directories in the Look In drop down menu, lots of tags without IDs that we would never link to. And the added step of selecting 'Current Document'.   Is it possible to default to Look in Current Document & Show All elements with IDs, and remove the Content Reference tab so only Link/Xref and Image appear in the docked resource manager, or even in the undocked one that comes up after hitting ... in <xref href?

I need to add es-MX to my stylesheet. Under target language we already have es, but under document mapping language. I do not have Mexican. Do I change Language to use to MX?   Thanks Bryon

I have latest version of HTML Help Compiler installed on my system . However when i publish a doc to HTML Help format i get an Error message telling that HTML help compiler is not installed . I am not sure what is causing this issue .

Hi,   I am using Windchill Service information manager for technical publication.   We have a lot of xref in our documents. I found out that the xref doesn't work when I am trying to link a topic xincluded in another topic in publication structure when publishing to PDF.   For example, I have a topic1 with topic 1.1 and topic 1.2 inside it and a topic 2. When I am trying to xref topic 1.1 in topic 2, the link is broken. Both topic 1 and topic 2 are added to the publication structure or techinfomap.   I got a warning from WVS saying that "Item ... referenced from ...., but not included in the map".   Does anyone have any thoughts about this?   BTW, I have turned off usenewdita settings. We are using Windchill 11.1 and arbortext 7.1.   Thanks, XW

Hello,   Under Arbortext software and with Arbortext Command Language (ACL), it's possible to change the command of a menu (with the "menu_change" function). But is it possible to change the command of a button in the toolbar ? If yes, how to do ?   Regard David

We recently purchased 4 locked licenses for each Arbortext Editor and Arbortext Print Composer. The software is installed on each user's laptop.   There are 4 total licenses in a license folder on each user's laptop (two for Editor and 2 for print composer) in the following location: c:\program files\ptc\licenses   Editor opens and works without any problems. However, when users try to print, they receive the error: Unable to obtain a license for optional component Servigistics Arbortext Print Composer.   Any thoughts or suggestions?Thanks!

Is anyone using referencing software that is integrated with Arbortext Editor?  If so, do you mind sharing what you are using? Does it have plagiarism detection function? For example, we use many pubmed references in our content.

Hi everyone,I'm seeing an issue where conrefs are not resolving at publish time on bursted content. They do resolve in RDStyle in Editor.I can reproduce when publishing representations from Windchill and publishing from Styler. If the files are on my local, they work just fine. When they are bursted to Windchill, the conrefs cannot resolve.I'm using 6.1 M050, WC 10.2 M030. Anyone else experiencing this?I saw that SPR2256329 addresses a conref resolve issue in M060. Does it pertain to this issue?Thanks,-Jeff

Dear All, I would like to know what is the difference between Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher - Desktop and Enterprise? I have been trying to work it out but unable to understand the differences since both looks almost the same.   Any information regarding this will be of great help.

One of our authors was wondering if  CTRL+w can be mapped to something else in editor or removed.   When trying to select using  CTRL+E they are closing the active window.   Thanks Bryon

From what I understand, the Datamerge functionality is not supported anymore. It can work, but is depreciated and not encouraged by PTC.   Is there a plan to bring this back or some new functionality that replaces it?  We would like to tap in to existing database for specifications, etc. instead of keying the values in and maintaining a duplicate set of info.   Looking forward to hearing what other companies are doing, what PTC recommends and if a solution will be coming in the future.   Thanks! Hi All,   I would like to know if there is any possibility to interact with the "OPEN IN ARBORTEXT" action in Windchill in order to choose a specific custom folder for Arbortext.   The issue is the following :   We have 2 environment to create our S1000D content : * A pre-production environment (which is 1 custom folder) * A production environment (a second custom folder)   When whe open a S1000D Data module from Windchill we would like to be able to choose one or the other environment.   Some precision : * Windchill version : 11.0 M030 * Arbortext version : 7.0 M050 * We do not have S1000D SIM module.   Thanks in advance for your ideas 🙂   Jérôme    

Hi, i'm looking to give a order different from alphabetical at the "category list" in the "new File Dialog" the only way that we did find its to prefix the doctypes customization folders, but this solution get others problems in our business.Do you know a different or better way to accomplish a non alphabetical sort in the mentioned list?Thank you,have a excellent day

We have Arbortext 7.1 M021 installed with the Print Composer component. When trying to perform a print preview the process never completes. It just sits there. I have no issues publishing a file but am unable to print preview. There is [fmt 2] in the bottom corner that seems to be hung. Our Stylesheets are FOSI.   We had this issue in the previous version and we were able to hit the ENTER key on the keypad and it would go through but its not working this time. The only want to kill this process is to try to Publish to PDF and then it gives me the option to cancel the current process and start a new one.   Any help would be appreciated.
