Hi, We are trying to do update Arbor Text Editor from version 5.4 to latest version of 7.1. And we have a few dtd which need to be compiled with respect to the editor 7.1. In doing so, we are loosing support for version 5.4. We are getting the following popup in older version of Arbor Text 5.4 (if we are compiling the dtd with 5.4,then in 7.1 we are getting this dialog.) Could anyone pease let us know if there is any work-around to support both the versions of Arbor Text. Regards, Venkatesh
Hello, I am new to ACL. We are trying to use the sh command to call Tortoise SVN, and are hoping there is a way to get the value returned by the command that sh calls. For example, we were hoping something like this might work: local testVariable = sh svn commit C:\filepath\filename if(testVariable==0) { response('success'); } if(testVariable==1) { response('failure'); } Where svn returns 0 or 1 for success or failure. We tried the above, and it doesn't work. Does anyone know if there is anyway to use sh and get the value returned by the command it executes? Thanks, Will
Hi Everyone, I have a huge ammount of jpg's that I wish to import into a Isodraw file. The Isodraw file has a frame (rectangle) inside...all elements should not exceed the boundaries of this rectangle. The jpg's are of various sizes, therefore I need to check the size of the jpg in mm and based on the result the relevant Isodraw file will be implemented (2 possible frame sizes). I have seached in the Macro Reference Manual for a command that reads the dimensions of an image file, unfortunately without any success. Does anyone have any ideas? I am aware there are other methods, such as Select If Bounding Box which I will implement if I cannot read the dimensions of an image in mm. Any ideas? Many thanks in advance. Alan
I have a need to call the Arbortext Publshing Engine from a .BAT file instead of from an Arbortext Editor session. I want to be able to send a .ditamap to the Arbortext Publshing engine, specify a style sheet that is on the Publishing Engine, pass a .ditval file to be used for processing, and specifying the location where the resulting PDF should be stored.I would think that this should be pretty straight forward, but I cannot seem to find any documentation on the process. Am I missing something?
Is there any way to limit the size of images in the ArborText Editor window? Here's the situation: We use a custom table to display <steps>. Each <step> is a row, <cmd> is the first column, <substeps> in the second, and <info> is in the third. We place photos or screenshots in <info> by using <img>, but ususally don't use @scale or @width to resize images. In PDF output, The column widths are set to (0.5in 1* 1*), so the images are automatically scaled to fit the width of the third column. The problem: Some of our photos are huge--like >2000 pixels wide. In Arbortext Editor (v7.0 M030), images appear at 100%, so we have to scroll down forever to get to the next step. In addition, we cannot scroll to the right to see the whole image. Ideal solution: Set up some sort of rule that says somkething like:For step/info/img, scale images in ATE so that they are no more than 900px (or 3in) wide. This rule would ideally be applied ony to the styl
Hi, I was able to download the Servigistics Arbortext Editor with Styler 7.0 Free Trial Evaluation zip file, but I am not able to obtain the license file. After filling out the request page, I am redirected to an error page with this message: Invalid parameter values have been passed in. The application cannot continue. Any help appreciated. Thanks, SJ
Has anyone had any luck creating an auto build acronym list for 40051C_6_0? I know how to manually create the list, but looking for a way to tag acronyms to auto generate. If anyone knows how to do this can you list the elements you used?
App Publish Error: Pg 1 New page sequence not specified; used fallback 'defaultPage'. [1035] (1:"editorDom0"#2;/}) i am very new using Arbortext, when i preview PDF page, the background color is red with elements showing
Hi, We are using Arbortext Styler 7 and I am confused by the result of the widow and orphan settings. It seems to work for paragraphs and tables. But I can't get it to work for other elements. For instance, I added the rule on the element "bulletedlist" which has "listitem" as children, which in turn has "para" and the likes. I want a rule on the bulletedlist to keep at least two listitems together. I have several similar cases where I want to add a widow/orphan rule on a parent element. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to add a feature request in the idea section of this community?
We are testing Arbortext Editor 7.0, looking to replace our aging version 5.4 M050. Our testers have noticed that many of the Edit window toolbar buttons have disappeared. We would like to put them back (at least some of them). Has anyone tried to do this? I have gotten as far as looking at lib\dialogs\editwindow.xml. I see the toolbar definitions in there, so it seems like I should be able to pull out the ones we need from the 5.4 version and put them in the 7.0 version. However, the icon graphic have changed so I don't have all of the icon graphic I need in 7.0. I would appreciate any suggestions from others who might have tried to implement this kind of customization.I looked at the PTC Arbortext Customization document, and found no help there. There is less than half a page of information on toolbars.
We're in the process of converting our XML processing code from Omnimark to XSLT. One of the problems we are running into is with XML files edited in Arbortext that include Arbortext's change tracking markup. Is there a DTD file which includes declarations for the change tracking elements? I've look through all of the DTDs that came with Arbortext and I haven't found one. Have any other Arbortext users created a DTD for the change tracking markup? Regards, Rick Schoen
Hi, I would like to use the WC_VERSION_ATTR Revision number in gentext. I've got the attribute correct in arbortext via bursting rules (twoway). -> rev = WC_VERSION_ATTR When I generate the text containing the rev (with xpath) is say as example: B.7 I would like the show only the Revision of the document: B (without the .7) Is there a way to read the rev attribute and modify attribute ? thanks in advance christian
Hi All, we are currently facing some issue whith non UTF-8 special character in our XML document using Arbortext Editor. We would like to enforce the UTF-8 encoding of those character when the document is saved in Arbortext Editor. Is there any way to do so? Thanks a lot in advance for your feedback, Kind Regards, Jérôme
What tool are you using to create flow charts in editor? Once in editor, it would also need the abiltiy to be translated. Thanks Bryon
I was looking at this issue a while back, but I was pulled on to other issues. I'm now back trying to figure out how to submit requests to the Arbortext Publishing Engine remotely.I read the documentation and it appears that SOAP requests might be the way to go. I noticed that the SOAP requests are converted to HTTP requests under the covers, so I decided to test things out. I installed PE on a server and it appears to be working normally. It appears that the HTTP request should be fairly straight forward, but I must be missing something.I installed a Chrome plug-in so that I could submit HTTP GET / POST requests. Then, I tried the following: POST http://PE_server/e3/e3?file-type=xml&type=pdf&f=convert Body: .ditamap file pasted directly into the message body PDF (e3.pdf) is returned. But only the .ditamap is processed; none of the topicrefs / graphics files are processed. At least this tells me the "process" is working. However, I need
Is there a way to tell if something is processing in Publishing Engine or if it is hung up? I've sent a request for a large document but have no idea if it is actually processing or if it is hung up.
I'm trying to get our on-screen stylesheet to properly format the generated text for inserted figures for a change package. I only need this for our computer screen style as we use another product to publish to PDF. This is mostly for helping our newer SGML taggers keep track of where things should go and shom them sorta how it will look when the PDF is generated. Example: Original Layout... Figure 1-1 Title A Figure 1-2 Title B After inserting figure needs to look like this... Figure 1-1 Title A Figure 1-1.1 Title C Figure 1-2 Title B I cannot seem to configure the styler software to get the inserted figure number to keep the previous figure's number AND append the ".1" to the end of it. It either seems to want to roll the numbers completely (making original Fig 1-2 read Fig-1-3) or I get a ? for the previous level number (or some variation of that). Arbortext 7.0 M050 (using the included freebie styler editor). Thanks in advance for any tips.
We are currently using CGM's. Is there any benefit to switch them to SVG's. Would we gain any publishing performance? With the newly merged Isodraw/Creo illustrate what will be the format of choice for export. Thanks Bryon
Could not find this information anywhere, and thought I'd share the solution. Basically, you will create new aliases for the FileSave, FileSaveAs and FileClose commands in Arbortext. There is a default commands.acl file delivered with Arbortext, and you will create a custom version that will override only three commands. Note that if the completeness check finds errors, it will leave the log open for the user to review even after the file has closed. Create a new text file: arbortext_home/custom/init/commands.acl Open arbortext_home/packages/commands.acl. From this file, copy whichever commands you would like to modify. In this case, I copied FileSave, FileSaveAs and FileClose. Update the existing code to contain whatever steps you would like. Below, I am pasting the contents of a working custom commands.acl that performs completeness check upon Save, Save As or File Close. # # Defines simple command aliases (macros) for actions assig
I do not have import / export license and need to get a very large Microsoft word file into 6.1 Arbortext Editor. I have tried to copy and paste and it changes everything into just text. Is there anyway for me to get the file into Arbortext editor and maintain the format. I found the following quote, "On the Windows platform, Servigistics Arbortext Editor enables you to copy content from other applications and paste the content into your document using matching markup from your document type. For example, assume you are authoring a DITA document and copy a bullet list in a Microsoft Word document. When you paste that list into your DITA document, it will be pasted with the appropriate ul and li tags." Please help.
We have Arbortext 7.0. When we print, (using a styler with 40051e5.0 screen fosi "c" drive//...DTD 40051c_c_6_0 FOS on the end) our headers are doubled and our .SVG graphics shrink (to about 2"x2"). In addition, we have no page numbers and our callouts get changed to all read "Figure 0, Item 1". Any sugggestions?
Hello,we have been using a plugin for Arbortext IsoDraw for nearly 15 years now. Originally it had been developed using version 5.0.1 of the IsoDraw API and still works with the current version 7.3.Now there is the problem that our customer has switched to floating licenses and this change is not compatible with the plugin. Version 5.0 of the API does not know about floating licenses and it seems that IsoDraw send an event to the plugin which has been introduced especially for floating licenses. Therefore we need to update our plugin to the current version of the API for IsoDraw 7.3 but I could not find any documentation or C header files / API source. I still have them for version 5.0.1 in our SVN repository but there seems to be nothing from PTC.Has someone here used the IsoDraw plugin API in recent years? Is there some link where to download the API and its documentation? Or do I have to contact PTC directly for that information?Kind regardsAndré Twupack
Hi,I have an important question. My client is currently using Arbortext XML editor 5.3 that is integrated with a CMS and CMS is doing the transformation from XML to PDFs. And Arbortext is only used for XML editing.I need to do the same thing but my company don't want that CMS but with existing XML files and DTDs and Style sheet (FOSI)Is Arbortext 7.0 standalone capable of transforming XML to PDFs? I had a discussion with a sales person from PTC he said you can do with Styler.I want to sure that it should fulfills our requirements before acquiring the licence. Wanted to test with trial version but not getting the trial license.Anybody confirm whether is possible in Arbortext 7.0?
Hello, I need move my cgm to a hotspot and then center the hotspot. I achived to use HighlightHotspot wich move the hotspot in the top left corner. (I have ResizeToFit = false) Then I modify the OffsetX / OffsetY to center the hotspot but the result is ugly, the animation move 2 times. If I could get the hotspot coordinate i could move to the right position before calling HighlightHotspot . Is it possible and how to do that : geting the Offset,OffsetY of a specific hotspot ? thanks
When inserting .CGM graphics within an XML they do not display in the Editor's view. They display as a graphic icon with a red X however when I print preview the graphics display as expected. I have all the preferences set to display graphics. I believe it may have something to do with the IsoViewer within Editor. Previously when in Editor and I click on a graphic I would get the IsoView icon but now I'm not.We are currently on Arbortext Editor 7.0 m010.Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.Sarah Price
