Here is a spreadsheet that I created which helps to estimate data transfer volumes for the purpose of estimating egress costs when transferring data out of region. You find that there are a number of input parameters like numbers of assets, properties, file sizes, compression ratio, as well as a page with the cost elements which can be updated from the Interweb.

Hello, everyone! Discover how we embed security throughout the entire lifecycle of the ThingWorx platform in our latest “ThingWorx on Air” episode! Hear Walter walk through how the ThingWorx platform is secured from end to end. Walter breaks it down into three simple parts: secure design, secure coding practices and continuous security improvements via our maintenance releases. Listen to Episode 07 to hear the steps we’re taking in each of these areas and how security is at the forefront of what we do. Finally, Walter mentions the Secure Deployment Hub, our brand-new set of resources to help you securely deploy your ThingWorx apps. Check out my last tech tip to learn more. Hello! I've started working very recently with Thingworx and I'm trying to understand how permissions work. I have a mashup and 2 types of User groups: Group A developers, Group B clients. I gave Runtime permission to both user groups on the mashup but when I log in with a user from either group I can't see anything from the mashup, not a single widget, is blank... Any tips? Thank you!

Load Testing through Remote Device Simulation Designing an enterprise-ready application requires extensive testing and quality assurance. This includes all sorts of tests, of course, from examining the user interface for flaws to verifying there is correct logic in all background services. However, no area of testing is more important than scalability. Load testing is how to test the application to ensure it still functions as desired when remote things are connected and streaming information to the Platform. Load testing is considered a critical component of the change management process. It is mentioned numerous times throughout PTC best practice documentation. This tutorial will step you through designing a load test using Kepware as a simulator. Kepware is free to download and use in short demos, making it the perfect tool for this type of test. Start by acquiring the latest version of Kepware from the download site. Click “Download Free Demo” if a license was

Hi everyone, In anticipation of ThingWorx 9.0’s biggest feature, active-active clustering, we’d like to provide an architectural overview of a sample active-active configuration and its underlying components. If you haven’t already seen it, we invite you to read our previous Community tech tip, where we introduce the concept of active-active clustering for ThingWorx Foundation, which enables you to: significantly reduce unplanned downtime for your mission-critical services and apps support horizontal scalability of the ThingWorx Server where you can scale your services up and down based on your requirements easily run, package, deploy, and operate advanced apps and services with the help of intuitive browser-based navigation, interactive monitoring and debugging tools, and more deploy anywhere - public cloud, private datacenter, on-premise, hybrid, or even locally on your laptop with deep optimizations for Azure Now, before we go too deep, we’d like to let you know tha

Hello, I would like to make a Popup for displaying the latest 5 notifications in my project and the popup should appear on clicking a bell Icon. I have used collections to achieve the same as of now with a mashup as modal popup. But the size of the popup should be made responsive that is based on the number of notifications (No scroll bar should be present). Currently I am doing it by bind the "PopUpHeight" property of the Navigation Function. But I would like to add a button in the bottom of the Popup which links to another mashup. But When I am adding a row to put a button , the Popup size breaks that is the bottom row size increases and decreases unnecessarily. The Row size is not a bindable property. I want the Bottom row size to remain constant and Top row to change dynamically or any other approaches are welcome. I am Using ThingWorx 8.5. I am posting a picture of what I view i would like to have. Kindly provide any workaround Thank You
I imported tree table widget successfully but after refreshing the thingworx composer it does not appear in the widget section please help to resolve the issue?
I am developing a mobile app that communicates with TWX via REST API. I have created MobileConnector_TH which having services that pull the data and revert it to mobile via HTTP Rest API. Problem statement:- I have one service written in MobileConnector_TH - validateUser(Username, Password) Which contains the following code var params = {url: me.IPUrl+"/Thingworx/action-login?OrganizationName="+organization+"&thingworx-form-userid="+username+"&thingworx-form-password="+password+"&x-thingworx-session=true" /* STRING */,contentType: "text/html" /* STRING */};// result: STRINGvar result = Resources["ContentLoaderFunctions"].GetText(params); This returns HTML webpage data into a string. I am unable to find any specific scenario to validate username&Password via Service. It showing the same result with the wrong password/username. https://community.ptc.com/t5/ThingWorx-Developers/Authentication-with-User-Credentials-via-Rest-Api/td-p/585890
My MSSQL ThingWorx database keeps getting slammed by a query that seems to run very frequently. Here's the query: SELECT COUNT(*) FROM data_table WHERE entity_id = @P0 I am not sure what is triggering this query, or why. But, data_table is quite large and this query seems to be consuming resources unnecessarily. Does anyone know what triggers this query, and why.

For some reason, the performance charts do not reflect the asset status history anymore. The expressions for the asset are set programatically during asset provisioning as follows: Things[UserInputSerialNumber].EXP_E_Running = "\"" + UserInputSerialNumber + ":AssetStatus\"=2";Things[UserInputSerialNumber].EXP_E_NotConfigured = "false";Things[UserInputSerialNumber].EXP_E_Unavailable = "true";Things[UserInputSerialNumber].EXP_E_PlannedDowntime = "\"" + UserInputSerialNumber + ":AssetStatus\"=4";Things[UserInputSerialNumber].EXP_E_UnplannedDowntime = "\"" + UserInputSerialNumber + ":AssetStatus\"=3";Things[UserInputSerialNumber].EXP_E_Unavailable = "\"" + UserInputSerialNumber + ":AssetStatus\"=5"; When the property "AssetStatus" is updated, the property "statusTimestamp" is also updated with the current datetime. Am I missing something?
Hello, I am trying to follow the full example in this link: https://developer.thingworx.com/en/resources/guides/thingworx-foundation-quickstart It is very useful but I have a question: Why during creating the THING TEMPLATE we selected the MeterShape to be used in the implemented Shapes, while during creating the THING we selected the ThermostatShape to be used in the implemented shapes? Can we use all for both? or can we switch? what is the reason to sleect one or more? Also, why not all the shapes are visuallized under the Thing Shapes on the left under the "Unassigned"? Thanks,Ahmed
