PTC Education

Hi,I am currently a high school student looking to get into CAD. I have spent a lot of time with Inventor but I would like to move on to better software. I mainly do stuff with VEX parts for my robotics team but I'm having issues. Is it possible to import Autodesk parts into Parametric? Here is the link to the VEX parts I use http://www.autodesk.com/education/competitions-and-events/vex/recommended-software (the 2013/2014 version near the bottom), if that helps. I know with Creo 3.0 this is possible but I'm unsure about the Student 2.0 version.Any comments you guys may have towards this would be much appreciated!Thank you!Jake

Hi,Quick update for everyone using the FIRST Windchill sever @ http://firstrobotics.ptc.com/Windchill. PTC is in the process of updating this server from Windchill 10.1 to Windchill 10.2. As we make this move, we'll be consolidating all the PTC Academic programs onto a single server located in Needham, MA. This is an exciting move for us and consolidating all the programs will make things much easier for PTC to management and for participants to work with.Fear not, this change will not impact you or your work. It will be a software update and all your data is safe. Nothing is being removed. PTC will simply update the Windchill software and next time you log in, you be connected to the latest and greatest version of Windchill. Our plan is to comlete the update and "go-live" before the end of August. I will share updates along the way to let you know about the progress and any potential service interruptions. -ScottPS. I would like to be able to find the rotational moment of inertia of an assembly (that is, to disegnate which parts move around the axis and get the moment for those parts together). There are several different materials involved in these parts. I have the density (kg/m^3) of all the materials. I tried setting mass poperties but everthing in the window is greyed out or locked. And even if I could set that, I am unsure how to find the moment. How do I go about doing this? I could do it one part at a time and sum if needed, since inertia about the same axis is additive.

I am an absolute beginner with CAD. I am trying to model a bolt and nut so that I can test it failing under various condidtions. I Have been following this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyMfcRl71do which is very useful, although I only have a student account. Just as I was about to get to putting the thredad on my bolt, the video at 14.53 tells me to open a file called unf_external_thread_profile. Which I dont have. Can anyone help me with this?Also I have built the bolt so far need to convert it from inces to mm, is this possible.Sorry to ask such basic questions, but like I say this is my very first time using CAD.CheersMarcus

Es passiert einfach nichts. In an effort to produce a more realistic solution, our team has begun to consider the use of carbon fiber as a material. However, how can we calculate weight and therefore cost of the aircraft? I understand that there is an excel worksheet for this based on design variables; is there a way we can edit this worksheet to account for the properties of carbon fiber?

Hello,I have a problem, too, starting Creo 2.I did the installation according to the guide I got via email. When I start the program I got an error but only says it created a traceback file and I should send it to the stuff. Picture holders or photo frames are really popular projects in schools which prompted me to try out the Sheet Metal (I hate that term!) tools in PTC Creo.The secret to the tight fold is using a flange wall and choosing the 'Flushed Hem' option in the ribbon menu drop down list,  Modelled and rendered using PTC Creo.

after i download the creo2.0(for student) , i cant see any front or top or right one the screen, i check all the options, it all right , but i cant choose any side or sketch place , even i choose top at will , still cant sketch or do anything , i try to download again , but still the same , just like the photo i upload , that is i prt screen, hope someone can hlep me , it will grateful .

Hi,I'm running windows 7 32 bit and I have the Creo 2 Student versions of Direct, Layout, Parametric, Simulate, Platform and Portmapper I downloaded several days ago. I'm trying to Uninstall through the Control Panel each one of the listed items but I keep getting the popup message: "One or more files are currently in use". I was able to uninstall the quality agent and one other item (I can't remember what it was). I've rebooted after removing the two aforementioned items but still no luck. I can't see anything running in processes that might be causing the problem. Don't see anything under services either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just downloaded creo 2.0 and I cant start creo, because it crashed, and it ask me to send the trace back log to technical support. I need to use this for my course. Please help. The log is attached in this post.Thank you.

Hi,I've got the the basics of a mech going but I know want to have the cam follower push the lever up and gravity let it fall back. I've tried making a slider link but to no avail.I've attached a zip of the file I'm working on.Any advice greatfully accepted!Peter

I am a mentor for FRC Team 2877 - The Ligerbots, and one of my tasks is to build our Creo skill base over the summer to put us in a better position for the next build season. I have two nominally identical machines - Dell Optiplex 9020 with Intel graphics, running Windows 7 64 bit, purchased at the same time, identical hardware and nominally identical update history, similar software installed. I have verified that the graphics driver version is the same on both machines and that both installed Windows updates recently. We installed Creo 2.0 (M070) on one of them during build season (late January/early Feb) and the install went smoothly and everything ran fine (and continues to run well). Today I installed Creo 2.0 on the other one, and it wouldn't start up (gives a fatal error message). We had seen this before on other machines, so I created a config.pro file with the line "graphics win32_gdi". This allows it to start up as expected. I have been using creo parametric 2.0. when i go to help it asks for only customer login. is E support available only for customer account or what???

Hi All,   All of a sudden we have lost the connection to our Creo 2 server with this licence error.   I have tried to reconfigure the installation on our server using the reconfigure.bat but all instances of inputting the licence number are greyed out, I have tried disabling the Antivirus etc but without success.   Any ideas??   We are using the student Academic edition.   Many thanks in advance.

Hello all,I was wondering if anyone knows how to get creo on a computer running on Wndows 8.1? And if I need to update creo when will that update be availible? Because i just got a shiny new HP Pavillion for the holidays and I've been using creo alot for this current season but on a seperate computer that was running on windows 7. I don't believe the windows 8 version runs on windows 8.1. So if anyone knows when the update will be availible that would be glorious. Thank you!-Bo

Hi Tim (or any one else who has an answer).We have some ProDesktop files we would like to migrate to Creo2. Is their an easy way to do this or would it be quicker to remodel from skratch in Creo?Thanks in advance.Peter
