Today’s engineers use spreadsheets, computational documents, and computational simulations to solve complex problems. Increased power, speed and accuracy are the benefits engineers achieve with these tools. In the third Webinar in the Mathcad Series, PTC’s Chris Hartmann will show how to achieve precise solutions to engineering problems using either numeric or symbolic methods, as appropriate. FTC kicked off last Saturday and we are moving full speed ahead with our Robotalk Webinars. A number of followup questions came my way via the - email this past week. I greatly appreciate the questions becuase it helps me to plan the webinars! Remember that you can also ask questions by starting a discussion on this Community. We will definitely answer your questions! Moreover, you'll probably be helping others out by enabling the answer to be moer publicly available. This week's webinar included an introductory video tutorial that demonstrated how to create a simple worksheet template and expand it into a calculation worksheet. We focused on adding text and math regions, emphasizing the use of the worksheet pop-up menu (right-click on the worksheet to bring up this menu). I personally find this menu to be very efficient. (See my post on the Mathcad Blog for other things I like about Mathcad Prime.) Video Link : 3291 After the introductory tutorial we explored a series of Mathcad works

After the FTC game kickoff this past Saturday, I was talking with Chris Hartmann who is the lead presenter in the ROBOTALK webinars this month, and he showed me a worksheet he was working on that predicted the probabilities for scoring points in the new game. One strategy being to just pick and place all of the rings from a starting rack onto a corner rack in the hopes that one or more of the rings are weighted and therefore give you 50 points or more. You won't win every game that way but over time you would score consistently assuming the rings are truly placed randomly on the starting racks. Come join us tonight on ROBOTALK and find out more about Mathcad Prime 2.0 and listen in to the discussion about the FTC game strategies.
I am trying to change the font in a Math Region to Comic Sansa Serif. Is this possible?
Many FIRST teams create electronic versions of documents for engineering notebooks. Electronic versions are easier to revise and easier to share. This webinar will introduce FIRST teams to PTC’s new Mathcad Prime 2.0, the only documentation tool designed specifically for engineers. In part 1 of a 4-part series, PTC’s Chris Hartmann introduces the Mathcad interface, text handling, calculation, Mathcad’s unit capability, and the use of variables and functions in a Mathcad Prime worksheet. Hello my name is John and my school provided creo elements/pro 5.0 schools edition for practice.I saw the manual and tried to install it and I actually failed within the first step: after double clicking the setup file, I saw an error message that installation stopped. I was trying to figure the problem which is: event name: appcrashapplicatipon name: ptcsetup.exeapplication version: 28.0.2010.480additional information 1: 0a9eadditional information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789and so on.It actually worked last semester but now it doesn't work anymore.Through such phenomenon, I have three questions to ask:1. Is there expiration date for creo elements/pro 5.0 schools edition?2. Does the version I got is different to the current version?3. If version has changed, then has it been provided to international countries as well?Thank you for reading my post and I would appreciate if you can give me answers.
Thank you to all of the participants in Week 1 of the 2012 Robotalk Webinar Series! We covered the following toics in Week 1:Understanding the Mathcad user interfaceUsing the Mathcad Help and TutorialsCreating Math Regions and performing calculationsCreating Text RegionsUsing Units in Mathcad CalculationsCreating a Basic Engineering WorksheetWe had a number of excellent questions, so we did not spend as much time on the prepared example worksheets as I had planned. But, I will attach the worksheets to this discussion so that Webinar participants have some example worksheets to explore. Feel free to ask questions about the worksheets next Wednesday night. If you have not yet installed Mathcad Prime, remember that you can download the free trial to get started from this link:http://www.ptc.com/product/mathcad/academic/free-trial.htmYour Planet PTC username and password are the same as the PTC.com account that you use to download the installation file. Here we go! Another FTC Season is about to get underway and PTC is happy to be sponsoring an FTC Kickoff Event at Newton North High School tomorrow. I am getting ready for my Mathcad demonstrations. Here's the title and abstract:Predict, Model, & Communicate with Mathcad PrimeMathcad Prime™ is a powerful and easy-to-use tool for engineering calculations. Mathcad enables users to combine text, mathematics, data analysis, and plotting in a live engineering worksheet. Whether you are designing a gear box or analyzing performance data from a launch mechanism, Mathcad provides the tools required to perform engineering calculations with speed, accuracy, and transparency. Come see how Mathcad Prime’s capabilities can support your team’s success this year.In the demonstration I will present a strategy for getting started with Mathcad Prime: Start simple to encoruage participation and build cultureEncourage team members to use Mathcad Prime in school to gain experienceAttend a PTC hands-on
I just finished the first Robotalk Webinar of the 2012 season, a basic introduction to Mathcad Prime for the first time user. One of the questions that was asked was: Do you need a basic understanding of calculus to use Mathcad? The answer is a definite, "No!" Mathcad Prime has a wide scope of usability from basic algebra to differential equations and beyond. This is good news for FIRST participants. As your knowledge and experience in math, science, and engineering increases, Mathcad has many functionalities that you will need to help you overcome the challenges that you will face. Mathcad will not be the only engineering software package that you will use, but it may be the most trusted and reliable resource on your desktop. I am in the process of uploading the content of the webinar for those who missed the session. I have started a discussion on the Planet PTC FIRST Community that contains the worksheets that were included in tonight's Robotalk Webinar. I am also in the process of
The downloaded zip file needs a password to unzip it, but a can't find this password in any place. After I tryed to instal via internet, but the assitent don't offers any program to install. What can I do?
Our FIRST Team had been using the Windchill Workgroup manager with Solidworks with minor issues. The school recently upgraded all of the computers in the engineering lab to 64 machines. We have been unable to get the workgroup manager to connec to Solidworks. I have been able to duplicate this issue on other machines, the only limiting factor seems to be the 64bit version of Solid Works
Problem1-> Why cant creo extrude the closed loop in any of the three surface...i dont find any pblem why its should not extrude in the above part.Problem2-> Now, if i sketch in the other plane and extrude towards the solid creo shows an weird logic for solid modelling....i mean if the distance is less than 20 solid extrudes...if its greater than 20 solid extrudes.....but why it fails if extrude distance is same as the width i.e 20....:((((((CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY CREO IS BEHAVING IN SUCH A WAY ?
I recently purchased and installed the student edition of creo 1.0 the program starts fine, but when i start working in the graphics window (i.e. sketching), the program slows down to a crawl. If i try to perform a function The top of the screen shows the (Not Responding) tab, but after several seconds the program seems to "catch up" and perform the function. I am wondering if I am missing some sort of a driver that would speed up the program, and was hoping someone could help. Thanks, Jesse
I recently purchased a student version of Mathcad Prime 2.0. An IP address is required to obtain the license file. I gave the IP address on the sticker on the back of my laptop (00-FF-1E-10-1C-44), but the license didn't work. I am unable to request another license online since it says I have used the maximum number already. - told me to log a call online or call. I have an order number (#15661064945) but no customer number, so I couldn't request help online. When I called, the woman couldn't find my order number and told me to contact -. Maybe I heard her wrong, but this email doesn't exist. I also emailed - and received no answer. The PTC utility gives me the IP address PTC HOSTID=00-26-82-AD-1E-2D, so a license for this IP would be nice. This seems to actually be the IP-address for the wifi connection and not the actual computer when I look into my computers settings. Can anyone help me?
PRO-E STUDENT EDITION / UNIVERSITY EDITION WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD
I am a Undergraduate in mechanical and automation engineering.Yesterday i was practising "Advanced Modeling Tools"from my Pro/E book and came on the SPIRAL BEND option...acoording to the book the option can be evoked as-> Insert>Advanced>Spiral BendBut the option is no more available there with that name!Is it hidden somewhere else or it's just not available in "Creo Elements Pro Schools Edition"?
Hi PTC community,I am using the schools version of creo 1.0 and I would like to know how to do freestyle modeling in creo 1.0 schools edition. I can go into flexibe modeling -> move.Thanks.
I teach using PTCU in my class. Right now if I want to link to a specific topic and share it with my class, I need to email the link to myself, and then take the web address from there. There should be an easy way to grap the web address without needing the email.
I was working on a model for the whole night and there was a ower failure at my place and my laptop also had shutdoown unexpectedly. Now when I want to retrieve the files I couldnt. During startup of creo parametric, it asked if I wanted to retrieve and when I clicked to retrieve no files were opened. Please help me as those files took me along time to model.Thank you.
Hi all,FTC Launch is a little more than a month away and the PTC Academic Program is busy preparing for the upcoming FIRST Robotics Season. We have begin teaching our FIRST Hands-on-Workshops and we are planning for our Fall ROBO-Talk webinars. The first leg of the Webinar series will feature Mathcad Prime 2.0. We plan to focus on how Mathcad Prime can be used to create dynamic, reusable worksheets for your FIRST team's engineering notebook. I have got some ideas, but I would like to hear from the FIRST community.Gracious Professionalism Question: If you have used Mathcad in the past, what Mathcad Prime capabilities would be good for FIRST participants to learn to use? Meet me in St. Louis Question: What strategies does your FIRST Team use to ensure the production of a high quality engineering notebook?I am also interested in example worksheets from prior seasons -- you can reply to this email and attach them. I hope everyone is having a great summer!Chris
Hello i´m using at the Moment ProE5.0 Personal Use and i will go for Creo , is the only way to get Creo buying a new Personal Use License ?Im Moment benutzte ich ProE 5.0 Personal und möchte auf Creo upgraden , muß och dazu zwingend eine neue Lizenz kaufen und wieder 4 GB runterladen ?
I am happy to announce today that LearningExchange is now available in 4 languages!Almost a year after we went live with this tutorial platform, we have taken this big step and started to localize the tutorials. So even if you speak English rather well, you might find it more convenient to watch a tutorial for Creo, Mathcad, Arbortext or Windchill in your native language. Note that the multi-language version just went live last night - this is the first status, and many new tutorials will be added across languages over time!Enjoy the tutorials and feel free to get back to me with any feedback! I look forward to talking to you.Bettina
