Anyone know where to find CAD models for the Gates sprockets? I have searched all over the Gates site and even though their PartsView search says it has CAD, I cannot find any CAD links for P15-5M-15AL on the info page of their catalog. I could not find these models in the PTC KOP either.From http://robotics.gatesprograms.com/first...Gates parts will now be included in the standard package of parts provided to all FIRST teams. Josh,Thanks for providing your model. I was able to download a native Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 5 (Creo Elements/Pro) version of the part and converted it to the educational edition so that those teams not on Creo 1.0 yet can still use it.Note that my model does not have a weight assigned to it. If someone knows the weight of the assembly, I would be glad to add it.Thanks,Adam

We're having a lot of machine shop delays this year, and I feel it's because of "sponsor fatigue" - they just haven't seen a lot of business benefit. We put our sponsors on our web site, our robot, our shirts, and our literature, but I feel as if that's just doing the minimum expected. How can our team go above and beyond when it comes to promoting our sponsors? How can we ensure that the sponsor actually experiences increased sales due to their involvement with our team?

Hello, we are a FIRST robotics team and are having some trouble with Creo. Every time a particular user tries to open an assembly from a USB card Creo crashes. We tried opening it on 3 different computers with the same result. One computer did work, but we have another user on that machine. We have also tried this on two different USB cards. Any Ideas?

Hello all FIRST folks!Hope everyone has been have a challenging yet productive season. I must admitted the we the 167 Buchanan Bird Brains have have many obstacle to overcome, yet we are still having fun and learning lots! You can read more here: Evan G's Blogtime Array.In any case, our team has been having difficulties establishing a solid connection to the Windchill 10 FIRST Robotics server via Creo Parametric. Logging into the the server via Internet browser works perfectly, but when working through Creo, strange things begin to happen. Sometimes we can connect easily and things work beautifully. Other times we can connect, then an error message saying that the server is unavailable pops up and ruins our work session. In one extreme, a student won't beabel to connect at all! I have found that usually the best temporarily solution is to delete the .wf server cache folder located in (for Windows 7) [Install root directory, usually C]:\Users\[Account Name]\AppData\Roaming\PTC\ProENGINE

Using Creo and Windchill in support of a FIRST team from your work computer could be causing problems for you. The number one reason we see problems with this is due to firewall settings on corporate networks. Even here at PTC we have problems getting to some sites or accessing certain data.Reason number two is conflicts caused when using two different versions of Creo (i.e., Creo 1.0 and Wildfire 4) on the same computer and also using the same cache folder.In this example, the company uses Creo Elements/Pro 5.0 and his team is using Creo 1.0, each obviously pointing to a different Windchill server. The following instructions will show you how to change the location of the workspace cache files used by his FIRST Creo 1.0 install/connection (I do not suggest changing your work cache location😞Exit Creo 1.0.At C:\Program Files\PTC\Creo 1.0\Parametric\bin, you will find a .psf file, most likely named parametric1.psf. Open this file in a text editor.Add the line of text shown below in red,

So when finishing the download/install process for the program the download shows to be 100% done BUT the copy files bar is stuck at 2% and doesn't change at all. When I tryed again I got the same results. Can anyone help me solve this probelm. I really need help on this one.

My team is having trouble with the wing definition worksheet. We are trying to implement the tail section into our design, however the mathcad worksheet which we downloaded from the "design kit" folder does not include all the inputs which were in the "Tail design process" video. The sheet does not include the x,y, and z coordinate input for the tail section. We have attached the mathcad worksheet so you can see what we are talking about.

Is there a tutorial for making drawings (drafting) in Creo that is available for the students? The tutorials on the training page are for modelling and assemblies, and the one that includes drafting says it is for ProE. Is that one close enough? Thanks.

At last week's RoboTalk (http://bit.ly/ypMhAz )   one of the guests asked whether it was possible to use a Mathcad Solve Block to the angle at which to position the launcher on your robot if you know the initial velocity of the ball leaving the launch device. I played around with some worksheets that I created after watching some launcher prototypes on Youtube to create the attached worksheet. Teams should be able to study and revise this worksheet to develop a worksheet that can be used to help save time by using predictive engineering to determine critical values of design parameters before building and testing the robot. This worksheet was created while I was reading an article discusing the necessity of factoring in air resistance when analyzing the kinematics of the flight of the basketball. I am posting this worksheet to illustrate how Mathcad can be used as an environment for developing and refining your ideas as you learn new concepts to apply in analyzing your robot's performance.

This worksheet demonstrates the use of Mathcad's programming capabilities. A matrix of shot heights is developed using a Mathcad function. The shot heights are generated from a vector of launch angles and velocities.

This worksheet demonstrates how to use Mathcad to analyze the kinematics of the motion of the basketball shot with a given velocity and launch angle. The image of the forces shown on the first page was created using the drawing tools in Excel and then copied and pasted into the Mathcad worksheet.

This file illustrates how Mathcad can be used to document engineering data such as court measurements. Within the worksheet a coordinate system is developed for tracking the position of the robot on the Rebound Rumble court. The origin was set at center court.

We have trouble uploading files to Windchill. We were able to do that in the last two years. I was told the old accounts are not automatically switched over to the latest version so last Saturday I created a new account as the mentor and start fresh. The instructions said I will get an email with instructions what to do to setup the project but I did not see anything. Who do I call? Who can help me? It just seems to go into a black hole.Very frustrated.

This weekend I participated in my first FTC tournament and it proved that nothing ever happens how you think it will. My team burnt out a motor in the center or our robot shortly after hardware inspection and spent most of the qualification rounds trying to get it replaced, just to have it burn out again when we started testing the robot's functions. Over all the tournament was really exciting, if a little stressful. I got to be our team's "coach" during the matches and learned a lot about creating new strategies on the fly. We ended the event winning the Think award and second place Inspire award as well as being considered for the PTC award and we wanted to thank PTC for all their support.Lindsey VanderlynTeam Tiki #2859

Hi folks,here's a little documentation that may be helpful to you sooner or later.Assume that you have a CAD document in Windchill that you want to replace by another that you got from somewhere else (maybe downloaded with a bunch of other parts with corrections).You can't exactly just tell the databasee you want to get rid of the old file and use the new one. Below are the steps to do this with Creo1 and Windchill 10. I've done variations of this way back in Pro/E 2001 and Intralink 3.2. The theory is the same while the steps have increased. I just downloaded the WF5_Schools_DVD and installed ProE Schools Edition. Program starts, but there is a "warning message list" box that states "License request failed for feature" and some additional details. Program shuts down when the "OK" button on the box is clicked. I do have a valid user name/password and am a member of a FIRST Windchill project. Any suggestions?Thanks,Ken Snodgrass
