Hi!A week ago i installed the pro e 5.0 schools edition, and I was quite pleased with the new outfit, but when I got to the 2D drawing I found myself in some trouble...I am using a german version, so it could happen that I do not use the terms which are used in an english version of pro e.1) how to view axes? I think I once found the right button by accident, but since then, I didn't find it again...2) when I insert a dimensioning the value is directly between the arrows. But i want to have it above the dimensioning line. Hallo ich habe ein Problem beim Importieren von STEP-Daten .Wenn ich eine STEP-Datei in einer Baugruppenerstellung öffne ist die STEP Zeichnung ganz klein ,konkreter Fall ein Lager mit Außendurchmesser von 42 mm ist nur noch knapp 1 mm groß .Wenn ich STEP-Daten aber normal im Zeichnungsmodus öffne ist alles in Ordnung ,soll heißen die Maße passen .Was läuft da falsch ???

So anyway, I am launching into trying to figure out toolpaths, not knowing at all what I'm doing, hacking away at it anyway. Managed to create a very simple workpiece and constrain it to something-or-other.It appears I next need to tell WF 5.0 what the capabilities are of our schools milling machine.I have been doing some intense Googling for GPH device definitions for the Intelitek spectraLIGHT 0200 Mill, but either none of the other of the thousands of schools out there with this mill has ever tried doing this before, or sharing of Pro/E GPH's isn't a very widespread activity.Here are all the various device specs, from the company's product page:http://www.intelitek.com/ProductDetails.asp?Product_ID=2&CategoryID=10&Industrial=&Education=yes&Specification=yes&category_str_id=1;10The attached GPH and XML file is what I've tried to figure out so far, but I have no idea how correct this definition is. As I am learning Creo I noticed that when I apply the Hole Tool to a surface all apprears to be working, but I can't finalize the drawing by selecting the green check mark. All other buttoms alongside the check mark work fine, but selecting it doesn't complete the hole. This makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong, the installation wasn't complete or it is a bug of some sort. Whatever the case, I need to get it fixed and am hoping someone in this community can help me.Thanks for your time.Kurt

I have the student version of Creo 5 installed on my computer and am now trying to learn it as best as I can. Although I understand that this is a large undertaking, many of the files that are needed to follow online help tutorials won't open in non-commercial versions. This makes some sense to me, but I was hoping that there are similar tutorials or help files that will work with the student version. Could someone please help me find something like what I need? Thanks.It seems that the student version would be more likely to need such tutorials and online videos for assistance in learning Creo5.Pleae include any information you feel would help me learn Creo in the proper sequence.I have attached the tutorial reference files that won't open with the student version.Thanks.Kurt

As some of you know, I'm a judge for FRC.  This year I had the honor of being a Regional Chairman's Award judge at the Granite State Regional in Manchester, NH.  I reviewed 18 submissions and interviewed the same number of teams.  These teams continue to amaze me with not only their technology prowess but, more importantly, the amazing work they do in their communities, their state, the country, and the world.  They take the mission of spreading the word of FIRST very seriously.  I met teams that help their low-income community members winterize their homes, create baby blankets for adoption agencies, set up and run summer camps for kids interested in learning how to build Lego robots, raise money for the burn victims, and built an icebot for their fire department to assist with risky rescues.  The winner of the RCA in NH was Team 166, Chop Shop.  Listen to the short video announcing the team... you can hear them in the background as it dawns on them

I'm having issues installing the latest Student Edition of Creo Elements/PRO 5.0. At the beginning of this semester (almost two months ago), I was able to seccessfully install and use the Wildfire Student Edition on my desktop PC at home. It runs very well. However, I picked up a new laptop a couple weeks ago, and I'd really like to do work in places other than my room, but my installation gets to 1 or 2 percent and it freezes with the status of "copying files." I've tried leaving it alone for a couple hours to see if it improves, but it doesn't. The second green bar is full (100% download supposedly), but when the install freezes, I have to manually close the program from the Task Manager. I've tried multiple configurations and have uninstalled/installed many times and have even created a second account in an attempt to troubleshoot, but I'm having no luck.I'm running Windows 7 on the laptop (64-bit). The PC with the working copy is running Windows XP. Has anyone else had a similar ex

Got this odd message while fiddling with Expert Machinist in WF 5.0 Schools Edition. I do not know what this error means.As far as I know, X axis is left/right, Y axis is in/out, and Z axis is up/down.Meanwhile, the SpectraLIGHT 0200 mini-mill has the milling head hanging above the workpiece, so it seems to me that the mill head is parallel with the Z axis.Yet if I try to create a toolpath milling the top surface of the virtual object, I get this error message that I can only mill perpendicular to the Z axis. This is totally mysterious.,I suppose I could've changed some default parameter in the program while trying to learn it. I have not yet done a full uninstall and reinstall to see if that clears this message.Also I suppose not all mills necessarily have the cutterhead above the workpiece, which might explain this message.

I do not know what the capabilities are of Schools Edition beyond "just" 3D modeling. (I am assuming the latest downloadable Pro/E version.)Can you produce 3D shapes that can be exported for milling?Can Schools Edition directly generate tool paths, or would I need a converter/path-generator like MasterCam to do that?Our school has the "Light Machines" miniature mill and lathe, which mainly are used to cut wax, plastic, or wood for student assignments.The students are mainly doing simple handwritten G-code programming, but it would be nice to allow exposure to more realistic CNC with generated parametric surfaces.

I use the PRO-E student edition on my home computer. I have 64 bit computer with Windows 7 Home Premium.While assembling parts, and when I click on middle mouse to pan a part, the program closes itself without saving the work.I have 6MB of ram. Is this a ram issue? I can add 2MB by replacing two 1 mb with 2 , 2MB chips.Also there is no 'PRO-Program' available in Tools with this edition? Thanks. Ajit

I use disk imaging to make maintenance of our computer labs easier. I have one image for the business education lab, one image for the elementary computer lab, one image for the industrial arts lab, and so forth.How do I go about including Pro/E schools edition in these images? I see something about the license being "locked to the MAC address", though I haven't gone deep into testing this yet.Is it the tiny license file that is all that really matters between the machines? I have a weird problem running creo 5. It doesn't happen all the time, in fact I couldn't get it to happen for my teacher.When I am in sketch modeand I start to scketch, the screen shows everything i done at the same timeit is really weird.I can't figure out how to make this stop. I.ve deleted and reloaded creo 5 many times and it always happens againi can't use the program as is and I don't have the time to find a machin to complete my assignments. please help.if i move the middle button on the mouse it will go to a proper looking screenbut when I move the mouse to draw it goes back to a funky screen and I can't tell where i am drawing in the mess here is what the screen looks like

Tsk tsk, looks like this software is not multithreaded very well. Spinning around the PTC Academy / Aston Martin model using "enhanced Realism" brings my computer to its knees, takes a second or more to redraw the 1680x1050 screen as I spin the model around.And what do I see on the Windows XP Task Manager? PTC is only using 25% of the system capability to do this, which means it is single-threaded.Listen PTC, with multiple cores, assign 1/n of the display area to a core (4 cores = 1/4 th per core), and have them divide up the work. Checkerboard division of the screen (say, 100x100 pixel blocks) will deal with distribution of large blank/used render regions better across all cores.

John Lee - UK Trainer emailed: "...the IT manager is refusing to install it on their network citing the batch file security issue..."ProE needs to run scripts – If a school insists on blocking scripts they will not be able to run Pro|ENGINEER. This approach to network securoty reflects an ‘old school’ philosophy of preventing pupils from doing damage at all costs. It usually happens when IT curriculum leaders have abdicated their responsibility to educate pupils about the dangers of electronic communication and may also be done to reduce workload for IT support staff. Thankfully these schools are now a tiny minority. Most schools employ a more enlightened policy, supported by Becta, of allowing pupils more freedom based on a clear policy for IT usage and monitoring/sanctions to identify and deal with transgressors. This is more likely to keep pupils safe when they are at home, often with unrestricted and unmonitored access to the internet.Schools wishing to maintain the block on script

My old computer died and I need to move the license file from my old computer to the new computer. I logged into support but would not let me access the "Reconfigure Software License" section because it said I don't have access to that. Does anyone know how I can get a new license file generated for my new computer? Thanks.

Hello All,I am trying to find out what is required in order to teach ProE. Would I need to be certified with PTC to teach a continuing education course at a local technical college?Also, does anybody know if PTC helps support a course like this in any way?Thanks,Dennis
