PTC Education

Hello, first of all i would like to introduce myself, my name is Vinicius Melo and i'm from Brazil. I'm studying Mechanical Engineer and i'm very interested in learning how to use Creo, as it seems to be a powerful tool for Mechanical Eng.Unfortunately, it is quite expensive for us (students from Brazil) to get these PTC Courses, i didn't find any tutorials to start from the basics. I would suggest to publish some books at least to introduce the program. It is not easy to learn just by using the program, it is quite sad to say that even the good Universities here don't teach us even the 3D CAD/CAM/CAE basics.I didn't find any book about Creo, it would be interesting for PTC, to have some books that would be a way to students from other countries to be able to learn how to use Creo and have potential future customers.Also please let me know if there is any other way to learn how to use Creo, i watched the Creo Unveiling event and i want to congratulate all members from PTC that worked h

We're getting the following message when trying to register the server in Pro/E "Unable to create workspace, check access priviledges and server availability."Has anybody else seen this problem with Windows 7 or Vista when tryint to connect to the FIRST Windchill server?Thanks,Josh

HiMy team and I were given a list of materials that we were told we must use. I was making sure that this was correct, that we could only use specific materials. If this is correct I wanted to make sure everyone else knew about this.

I get this message a lot especially when working on assemblies or when switching between multiple open parts. I'm not working with giant assemblies or anything but it seems to be happening very frequently. Does anyone know how I can avoid this or if there is a solution to the problem that Pro/Engineer is encountering. I am working with WF5 Schools Edition.

Hello,I have installed the programme and everything went fine. Although when i click the icon on my desktop nothing happens. If I look in the taskmanager I have a process called nmsd.exe active. Although the programme doest not start?Anyone have a solution?Thanks // Malin

I downloaded the Pro-E zip file from the "Getting Started" webpage and I have watched the video on installing the program. When I was installing the license server (obtained via completing the survey on the PTC website) the installation was at 99% when the program crashed. I tried to run the software again but this time it crashed before installation even began. Thinking the license server install might have been successful, I tried to run the install for the Pro-E client and once again the setup.exe program crashed. I am running it as an administrator. I am currently re-downloading the entire package from the email I received after I completed the survey. Perhaps I am overlooking some item, making some mistake. Please advise!

Does anyone here run Pro on a laptop? How is the performance? What laptops are you running it on?I'd really like to be able to do that but I'm wondering if a laptop could handle the program well? I don't want it to just "run" like its doing on my older pc, but I'd like it to run well. If you can throw any specs, such as processor types and disc drive information my way that would be great.Thank you so much!

Hi, So according to the constraints there needs to be a space for a required amount a fuel. I was wondering, do we need to design a fuel tank to reside inside of the wing or simply leave space for it.Thanks, Nick

Hello all,My name is Colin Turpin from Oklahoma's team JET. We are simply curious if the given values of the span and the wing area are for one wing or for two?

I had this software on my computer last year, so It shouldn't be a compatibility issue, but I am unable to finish the install of the cad software. I have had an active account with PTC for over a year, and the activating of the product worked great. I was able to generate a license file and all that. When it gets to the copy files page (with the green progress bar) it inevitably hangs at 1% or 2%. I have been told that this can take a long time if you have slow internet, but I have had the installer running for 6+ hours now. if your not familiar with the screen or step I am talking about then I attached a screen shot for you. I am running windows vista sp2 home premium.

When Does it start????

Hi!I am trying to install student edition of proEng. I started with the "install from web"-option, but installation stopped at 2%.I then tried downloading Creo 5 on DVD, but the link is broken.I then tried the two zip-files, but after the license-generating step, the installation hits an error and dies.None of the options works. What can I do?/Thomas

I've been having trouble like many of the others with the threads on here, having the same problem: the internet based downloader only reaches 2% when it says copying files and never goes any farther. When I tried downloading the full DVD version, it said 403 forbidden, so if you could help me fix this dilemna, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I am trying to run some mock analysis on a wing design to get familar with the program. When I try to run FloEDF's wizard it starts to load but then give me an error of "There must at least one component for a FloEDF.Pro analysis." Can you help me figure this out?Attached is a screen shot of what I am trying to analyze and the message that keeps popping up.

I was just wondering when we are suppose to be able to start the mock challenge.

I download all of the required files and follow all of the steps for install, but when I go to install the software it remains stuck on 2% and does not ever go past it. It says "copy files," by the way. Can anyone help?

I've successfully installed the ProE student schools edition but everytime i click the shortcut to run it, nothing happens. I've left the computer running for an hour and there is still no change. it's as if the program won't start. i'm running it on a windows 7 pro 64 bit and i'm pretty sure everything on my computer is up to date. Any ideas as to what is wrong? Thanksedit: it's actually the schools addition, not the student editionalso, at my professors suggestion, i tried reinstalling incase it simply did not install properly but i've apparently hit the limit of how many times i can have a liscense file generated so i don't really know what else i can do now. The process appears for less than a second in the process tray and then vanishes. please help if you can T_T
