The presenter shares the story of how they came to use PTC Creo and PTC Windchill to manage their product line, how they moved all their departments from SolidWorks and AutoCAD (about 50 seats) and what benefits it gives their business such as reduced response time to customer, fast mass changes through all product lines. The presenter will then share the technical aspects of how they implemented configurable product "templates" (advances logic inside, parameterization, analyses etc.), how they are getting automatically design documentation for new instances, linked O&V and PTC Windchill PartsLink to get automatically classified products. One of the great attributes of Solid Modeling is being able to do virtual analysis. A common analysis function is interference checking. Most users know how to run a simple interference check of the assembled components. However great this tool is, interference checks have limitations. In most cases engineers are checking interference in a static, constrained assembly. What if engineers need to know if you can assemble a part without interferences? Do you want to maximize the utilization of digital data on the shop floor and across departments? This presentation will make a paperless environment easier to navigate through the use of PTC Creo View and PTC Windchill. Think about the idea of having 3D visuals available on the shop floor as you are putting your product together. PTC Creo View representations can be embedded right in your documentation. Manufacturing needs a lot more information to put together products than just a product bill of material and some engineering drawings. By using the work instructions, which are a deliverable of manufacturing process plans, you can now get documents that detail how to put the product together. This presentation will cover what kind of information is stored within a process plan and how Solar Turbines used them to leverage 3D visualization. The presenter will also discuss how it can be use out-of-the-box as well as using a few customizations that can really enhance the level of detail while removing a lot of redundant manual work. Is your lead time from harness manufactures too long? Are product managers always wondering why the electrical systems are on the critical path for time to market? Unlike many MCAD relationships that OEM’s have with their suppliers, wire harness suppliers are typically given only an engineering drawing to build the harness from. No 3D models, no data, not anything but a piece of paper. This proves to be very inefficient given the amount of data that goes into a wire harness.  During this presentation, the presenter will discuss how leveraging the native 3D and 2D flattened harness developed in PTC Creo/Cabling, attendees can collaborate with their harness supplier(s) helping them turn the PTC Creo models into information needed to build the harness.  The presenter will also show attendees how investing in the PTC Auxiliary Programing Interface (API’s) to build custom applications can streamline the design process and improve quality. Conceptual design often starts in a 2D format, whether it be a napkin sketch or a, gulp, AutoCAD drawing file. Ultimately, a 3D model is created and managing 2D to 3D and 3D to 2D can be a full time job. Does the 3D data imported reflect what the latest 2D data is? Does the 2D date reflect the latest 3D data? Are you interested in 3D printers, but convinced they will do nothing for you? Have you been watching from the sidelines waiting to see what happens but not finding information?  If so, this presentation will share the benefits and drawbacks of low cost 3D printers and provide an understanding of their effective use. The typical process for product development involves conceptual design on paper, then CAD, then a narrowing of concepts to be prototyped for evaluation. Utilizing a 3D printer can reduce the time it takes to choose direction, improve stakeholder feedback, and allows you to increase the number of concepts initially pursued to improve confidence. While a 3D printer will not replace your favorite prototyping shop, it allows you to send ideas with higher confidence, that are more thought through, and have fewer iterations. Bonjour,Je viens avec une question relative à la configuration de Windchill dans Creo 3.0. Pour poser le contexte, je suis étudiant ingénieur en Mécanique et Matériaux, et nous avons un projet à réaliser en utilisant Windchill et Creo 3.0.De ce fait, j'essaye d'enregistrer le serveur windchill dans Creo (chose que j'ai déjà fait de nombreuses fois, sans jamais n'avoir eu aucun problèmes). Sauf que cette fois-ci, j'ai beau écrire et réécrire l'adresse du serveur (windchill.***.fr/Windchill), j'ai le message d'erreur suivant avant même de pouvoir m'authentifier : "Emplacement du serveur incorrect. Modifiez le champ emplacement, puis réessayez."L'enregistrement du serveur s'est déjà fait sur d'autres ordinateurs, mais impossible sur le mien. Pour information, je travaille sous une machine virtuelle : Windows 8.1 via OSX.Avez-vous une idée de l'origine du problème ?Merci pour votre aide, et bonne journée.

Hi all,   I am new to this so please be patient.   Below is a macro I created. I have added statements to explain what is happening throughout and It works fine if I load a CGM into isodraw and then run the macro. The problem comes when I call the macro from the batch process tool. That's where it crashes and burns. I have also tried running this from the command line but the same thing happens.   It is pretty clear to me that closing the document is causing the batch tool to go down. So if anyone knows some extra code I could use to just loop within my macro the number of times, equivalent to the number of CGM in my source directory I think it would do the trick. Any ideas would be appreciated.   One other question: is there a line of code I can use to lock and unlock certain layers?   Cheers   Macro test   #Save original document number as string. Arbortext Styler, 5.4 - Windows 7 - Error upon inserting Gentext   In document view, insertion point is inside text. Stylesheet Editor has Element selected, and Gentext Tab has focus. I click Edit Button at right side, intending to add a pound sign at beginning of text, for all instances of the selected Element. Add before [ElementName] input window appears. I click Insert Symbol icon, or use Insert Menu, to insert symbol. Font Family dialog box appears where I select pound sign. When I click Insert Button, I get error in Add before window: "Insertion of text not allowed in this context".   The document, and the stylesheet, were opened yesterday and working correctly before I shut down for the day. First, there's no need to panic. For everyone who's been a member of the long-running mailing list, adepters, this is where they're migrating the Adepters mailing list archive. On one hand this is good, the tribal knowledge that's been locked in an email list archive since 1995, will be in a publicly viewable, SEARCHABLE, location. It will also be a central location for PTC to coordinate with their customers. On the other hand, you won't get it delivered to your inbox, you're going to have to go to the website for your information.
