I write lots of macros to speed up drawing tasks in Isodraw and they fall into 3 useage categories.Ones that are used all the timeOnes that are used a few times a weekOnes that are used infrequently for specialist jobs.Toolbars seem to be the only way for us to have macros easily accessible because the drop down Macros menu only lists the first 15 macros and they are only by macro name, no icons to give further clues to what they are for. I'd like to have all macros on toolbars, but it would get rather cluttered with all of them visible at once.Is there a way that a macro can hide and show our custom toolbars? I'd like to be able to hide and show toolbars without having to go through the Window menu. The hide function works for the palette windows, but not the toolbars. Is there any other way? Please PTC can you add into IML a facility to create menu windows!
Hi All,I am very new to this community. I want to write a java class. Through which I want to connect to the Arbortext Publishing engine. and then trying to convert my xml file to pdf.....Can anybody help me how can i do this one???????Thanks,Sunita Choudhury
I've been testing an ACL script that uses the function inside_tag(). Itseems to have a bug. If I test for an element name that has a 'dot' in thename (e.g., <dtd.frag>) it will not recognize when it is inside the tag.I've tested this with a couple of different element names both in the scriptand from the command line and get the same result which is a failure. Has anyone else found this to be true? And if so does anyone have a workaround. Many thanks. Lynn
Hi All,I know nothing about Arbortext.....but we have a need at my company to create catalogs for our product lines (both web based catalogs and print catalogs). We currently manage this catalog using autocad. A typical catalog will have a 2d drawing layout page showing some high level dimensions and a table showing all the variations on those dimensions. NOTE: the drawing does not need to be updated in the catalog ever. The next catalog page has a text based list of options for this family of product (so each product family has two pages in the catalog). Our requirements are:Must have rev control on each catalog pageMust be able to generate a full catalog (combining all pages) easily and in a variety of formats (HTML, PDF, etc.)Must be able to include nice flashy images, colors, etc. like a publishing software would do.Must come with an editor or page maker tool that non-technical people can use to create catalog pagesMust be easy to use and implementMy question is......is Arbortext th
I want to do a macro that moves the start point of a callout but I can't find a function to do this.I'm assuming the callout is already selected and just want to find the start point of the callout line (i.e. the bit that points to something on the drawing, not the text end).I'm hoping that there is something similar to the line end point property (e.g. myelem.line.startPoint.x) but for callouts - I can't find it though.
Hey everybody,Let's say I do the following in Arbortext: var document = Application.activeDocument; var a = document.getElementById("stuff"); var b = document.getElementById("stuff");So both a and b point to the same DOM element. Now, if I check their equality: a == bI get "false." Why is that? Shouldn't both variables contain references to the same object, and therefore be equal? Is there a simple way to check for element equality in javascript?Note that when I do the same thing in a web browser, I get "true," like I expect. Thanks,James
Has anyone seen a wrapping issue in tables in 5.4? We're upgrading a customer from 5.3 and we're getting wrapping in tables in 5.4. We've tried a couple build of 5.4 and get the same result. So far, we can't find a good reason for the wrapping in FOSI. Anyone else seeing anything like this in 5.4?
I noticed that some arbortext supplied acl's do not exist anymore or are renamed.I have to support some applications that make use of the packages/h_maint.acl and we want to upgrade to 5.4. that file does not exist anymore in version 5.4eg. packages/H_define.acl exists from version 4.1.1 till 5.3, but does not exist anymore in 5.4I think it has been renamed to packages/h.aclCan someone confirm this and maybe point out if there are important differences?. thxLeo Put<h2></h2>
Hello,I wish to take a string and make some modificiation. I have found the 'String Functions' section but it has been no help.Problem 1:I have a text element with the following text inside:85x286x2087x1488x889x1090x109192x29394 Now I need these to be seperate text elements roughly in the same position...I am finding the string functions limited and I am unsure how to do this inside Isodraw can anyone help?Problem 2:I have the following text element:13x2I need to seperate the 13 and the x2 into their own elements, I have tried using the FIND (source, search, start) as explained in the 'String Functions' section to always find the X and then I can hopefully start to remove the X and text after the X into another text element but unfortunately my isodraw crashes when I use FIND() in conjunction with the MESSAGE function. If I use the FIND() on its own Isodraw returns the error: "Unknown Macro Command"MACRO Test DEFINE str AS string str = "13x4" MESSAGE "Result: " + find(str, x, 1)END MAC
Is it true that in order to link to a PDF named destination, you need Arbortext Publishing Engine ?ie: If I want toset up an external link to a named destination in the target PDF this can only be achievedwhen composing to PDF via the Publishing Engine ? (and not simply via Adobe Acrobat)Regards,Andy
Heh, I was just typing up a very similar response, but Liz had fasterfingers than me. 🙂BTW, the Resolved for Edit document is not a flattened document, butimports the individual topics by reference, so the changes you make willappear in the individual topic files. Which is just what you want, Ithink.--Clay
Hi Adepters,I have a bit of a XUI problem. While I can capture the DOMActivate event on a <listbox/>, I can't do the same for any of its <listitem/> children. In other words, this works, setting target to the label of the selected listitem:<listbox> <script ev:event="DOMActivate" id="hitsscript" type="text/javascript"> target = Application.event.target.getAttribute("value"); </script> ...</listbox>But any listener attached to a <listitem/> using listitem.addEventListener("DOMActivate", listener, false) never fires. The reason I need to do this is that I'm creating a listbox where the labels are not guaranteed to be unique. So instead of acting on listitem/@label, I want to act on listitem/@appdata, which as far as I can tell, isn't accessible from the listbox domactivate event. Also, listitem/@selected never gets set to "true," so I can't find the selected listitem that way, either.Does anyone have any pointers? Thanks,James
Here at Single-Sourcing Solutions, we always talk about the ease of use and the out-of-the box advantages to Arbortext suite of products. We don’t always talk about the sizable API that opens the entire application to developers. Yet, for many of us, this was one of the primary advantages that drew us to the Arbortext platform. This last year, we discovered that this ability to tweak every aspect of the product and the content that comes out as a result is no longer so obvious to people who are new to the eco-system.Want to see "Why Arbortext'?Come to the Arbortext Monster GarageInspired by the popular “Monster Garage” television show on the Discovery Channel, today we’re launching a new webinar series: “Arbortext Monster Garage.” On the TV show, a team of people with mechanical, fabricating, or modifying expertise gathers together to modify a vehicle into a “monster machine.” In our new webinar series, we’re gathering people from the Arbortext community who have modi
I have several fonts recently installed that contain nothing but special symbols. All display in the "Insert Symbol" interface window, but only some display in the editor window after you click "insert". All fontsare OpenType with Postscript outlines. Any insite as to why this is happeningwould be GREATLY appreciated.
Hi - we're close to implementing IsoDraw & Arbortext but have a large backlog of text files that need to be created as illustrations in IsoDraw. Has anyone outsourced this type of work, and if so would you be able to provide the names of any sources?Thanks,-Ter
I'm in the process of writing an ACL script that will compose using XSL. The script is working as expected except for the stylesheet selection. I need to be able to set the stylesheet using relative paths but it's not working. Is there a trick to relative paths in Arbortext's ACL?Here a snippet of the code:require comp_usingxsl;require compose;readvar -TITLE 'IMM Translation'\-prompt 'Select the Section to Translate:'\-choice 'Maintenance'\maint\-choice 'Illustrated Parts Breakdown'\ipb\-choice 'Wiring Diagrams'\wire\if ($ipb){$myparams["stylesheet"]="../doctypes/imm/" . "tr_ipc.xsl";$myparams["outputFile"]="ipc.xml";}compose::compose_using_xsl(current_doc(),$myparams);response("Translation complete.")Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a rookie when it comes to ACL.Sarah
We use Arbortext Editor 5.3 with Styler and normally we develop procedures and training manuals and it works very well for that. Management has asked if we could create forms in Arbortext Editor in XML. The only thing I can come up with is using the table feature but it doesn't seem like the best choice or very user friendly for future edits. Before I go back to management and explain that, I wanted to get other opinions. Any ideas?
I am investigating an uppgrade to 5.4.I ran into the problem that some of my client-applications refer to H_define.acl. This file does not exist anymore in 5.4.I think h.acl has replaced H_define.acl.Can you confirm this ?thxLeo Put
Hi,I am adding a button, two actually, one each to the end of the first andsecond default toolbars. I have xuitoolbar.xml located in custom/dialogs.The relevant x/y coordinates are: 470,0 (first toolbar) and 470,26 (secondtoolbar). This works as designed until an author resizes the Editor window to benarrow enough to collide with the end of the toolbars. My buttons spill ontothe next line and (and this is the part that I'm trying to fix) do not pullback onto their original bars when the window is re-resized large enough tofit them. For example, assuming each number is a button, I start with this:12345678123456After a resizing (and a re-resizing), I'm stuck with this:12345678123456I can't find the event, if there is one, and/or the command that willreposition my buttons back where they belong. Am I missing something or isthis in fact not possible?-- Paul Nagai
I'm trying to do a macro to draw curved ribbed pipes and to do this, I need to know positions at regular intervals along the length of a bezier curve. The idea is that the user clicks on a bezier curve, then clicks on a half ellipse (the rib). The macro then copies the half ellipse along the bezier curve at regular intervals, at the correct angle for the curve at each point, giving the impression of a ribbed pipe.Of course I need to know the angle of the bezier line at each point so I'd know what angle to change the rib toFirst I thought I'd be able to split the bezier into a set number of segments and use end point details for each segment, but I can't find a way to do this.I'm thinking it will have to be maths, but I don't know if there is a formula that mere mortals could understand for working out points along a bezier. Does anyone know? The image below illustrates what I'm trying to do. The 'rib' at one end of the bezier wants copying along it's length (at points highlighted by the
I'm doing a macro that gets the user to select a bezier, then changes the line thickness of part of that bezier. To let me know which segments to change, I need to know two things:How many segments are in the bezier. Can this be done in a macro using a loop until there are no more segments reported?Which segment has been selected. Are these things possible? The reason for wanting this information is:When we convert IGES drawings to 2d, it leaves thick lines where bolt heads rest against metal and we change them to thin. Annoyingly, there is always 1 bezier line that needs to be half thick and half thin. I can't predict how many segments these lines have (often 6) or which way round the line has generated, so I'm never sure which segments to change. If I know, for example that the user selected segment 2 of 6, I know to change line thicknesses of the first 3 segments.
I have a customer who wishes to configure his PDF's so that he can manage external references to named destinations from a source PDF to a target PDF.He is using the <refext refloc="target.pdf#nameddest=mytarget">text text text</refext>Does he need to author via Insert>Link Target into the target PDF named destination at element level ?Also, to get it to work, do all the PDF's need to reside on a web server ?Regards,Andy

Can we do if statements like below that check for 2 things instead of just one?example:If ((E2.Ellipse.Segments[1].Pen = RemovePen) or (E2.Ellipse.Segments[1].Pen = RemovePen2)) Create Object_Info E2 Create Object_Attribute "Delete" "String" E2 E2.Info.Attributes["Delete"].Value = "Yes"End IfI've tried it in a macro and it doesn'[t seem to work. I'm so used to doing this in other macro languages that it didn't occur to me that it might not be possible in Isodraw macros. Can someone confirm this or tell me where my syntax is wrong? If I separate the if statements they work, but then I have to copy the code between the if and end if for each one which makes the macro much longer. Thanks to Trevor Hendricks for the orginal macro that I'm altering for this.
Does anyone know how to set the color for objects with hotspots? This function can be found under Window | Show Objects...I've been unable to find a macro reference to specifying the color. Any assistance would be appreciated.
