I want to automate a report so that when it is run by the user, it will automatically calculate the date to use.  Think of Change Notices and the need for a report to generate the results of Resolved CNs based off of the system date minus 30 days or even quarterly.  This should be something that one should be able to do in the criteria section.  If it can be done I haven't found it yet.  The ultimate goal is to be able to set up a data monitor for management that runs on different times to give them different results automatically.  Does anyone know how to do this or if it can be done?

I am trying to give 2 users at a remote site read-only rights to the data in Windchill. Is there a trick to this? I have them in a group that should only have RO access to all cad files and documents. They are in the context team Viewer and the ACL for Viewer participants shows Read, Download for their rights. When I tested by logging in as one of them, Windchill allowed me to create a new object in a folder. Any overriding ACLs that I need to look at?   Windchill 11.0 m030 CPS16

Has anyone created reports for analyzing data growth: Per container - object counts by type - master, revision, iterations Data Volume - file size (totals, not per file) Growth over time (per month or quarter) Ultimately we'll probably put this into a ThingWorx dashboard so we're also interested in any compelling visual representation of the information above.    Thanks for any suggestions or examples Jeff

With the release of Eclipse Theia, I see an opportunity.   Windchill system administration seems to be done by Engineers more often than IT Professionals or Developers. I am a Developer and an IT Professional (professional background in network administration, system administration, etc... educational background in software development) and have been working my colleagues to establish a configuration-as-code devops practice and pipeline for Windchill.   One of the initial hurdles is the environment setup (install an ide, like vs code, clone the repo, do work...).  When I saw Eclipse Theia was in development a couple years back, I was excited.  I was thinking this could be part of PTC's dev environment setup.My question to you all, has anyone actually set up Eclipse Theia on a Windchill install.  Or in an Apache environment in general?

Hi All, Current we are planning to define ACLs across the organization and for which we need to write a proposal document for the following: product container and library setup (what product containers +libraries should we have when do we decide to have a new product container or library should we ever hide/remove product containers how do we manage secret projects with containers Basically looking at best practice/examples for inspiration with a rough explanation of cost vs benefit of splitting out into lots of product containers Anyone out there who has already established such a setup in their organization and would like to share their experience and possibly a rough guideline on why and how it was established.   Awaiting eagerly to hear back from the community:) Regards, PRKAC 

Hello,   I have installed Thingworx 9.0 instance and running an application. I have installed it manually without using installer. Based on requirements, I have to install Thingworx Navigate 9.0. when I'm trying to install navigate it's again asking me to install Thingworx foundation using installer. Is there a way to install Navigate without removing existing instance. The server is having only one drive so i can't use two instances also.   Any suggestions on this?   -thanks, Abhiram

I'm writing this entry to share my experiences with remote master vaults and publishing. My company migrated data into a single instance of Windchill from several different Intralink systems from design centers all around the world. One of the remote design centers was large and would be sending a lot of data over the WAN to our existing single Windchill master vault. We planned to install a file (replication) server at the remote location, but we also investigated adding a second master vault to the system at this remote site. In the end, we went with a second master vault since most of that content would only be used by the design center where the remote server and vault were. We also had the IT infrastructure there to manage the server and vault.   Benefits to remote master vault: 1. When we migrated their data initially from Intralink, we didn't have to move it to the master around the world, either over the WAN or by shipping a storage device. Throughout the migration process

For Schematic we are using Mentor/Siemens DxDesigner and for Layout Xpedition. We use also the Variant Manager within Mentor. With this we can set parts to no-load or change them in different assemblies. As these informations are not available in the edif export, they are not visible in Creo View. Therefore the request to change this and work together with Mentor for a better database.

I have been unsuccessful in finding documentation for the file types that the Publishers in WC can READ and publish FROM.  Can anyone direct me to a list of file types?   For example, I'm looking to expand on the following list: All Creo Files (.asm, .prt, .drw, etc) MS Office files (.docx, .xlsx, etc) SolidWorks files (I think...)   The second part of this question is what file types can CreoView read (I found some here but doesn't seem comprehensive): .jpg, .ol, .plt, .pva, .pvm, .pvp, .pvs, .pvt, .pvz,  .png (not stated in above documentation but works through testing) My biggest interest is in finding a file type to show a graph based on real data.

one of my user has issue while Adding objects to workspace, the workspace object collector window keeps loading for ever. tried clearing browser cache and restarting the browser and trying in new workspaces. No luck yet. Appreciate any leads on this issue. Using WC11 M30 Creo 6.0  

We are trying to implement eMDR along with CEM in Windchill. However, since we installed QMS Surveillance and Corrective Action (General) initially instead of QMS Surveillance and Corrective Action (Med Device), we did not the eMDR types & its data model loaded in the system. When we now try to install Med Device, it still doesn't load the data model that we need though the installation seems to be successful.  It is understood that we need to get rid of the  QMS Surveillance and Corrective Action (General)  module to get the eMDR types in. Does anyone have an idea of we can fix this? Any pointers would be of great help. 

Hi All, I'm upgrading from Windchill 9 to 11.1 and I have a JCA / DataUtility customizion I want to convert using OOTB DataUtility ID inside Type and Attribute Manager, but it doesn't work. The customization consists in some soft attribute (eg:  DocumentCategory_ETS)  of a soft type (intra.elica.upgradesvil.ETS  subtype of ReferenceDocument  subtype of WTDocument)  to be rendered as ComboBox.   I followed all instructions and tips from Windchill help center and support cases.   Following my code and configurations:   1)  site.xconf   <Property name="wt.services/svc/default/com.ptc.core.components.descriptor.DataUtility/ETSDataUtility/java.lang.Object/0" overridable="true" targetFile="codebase/service.properties" value="ext.elica.doc.datautility.ETSDataUtility/duplicate"/>     2)  propagated value inside components.dataUtilities.properties   wt.services/svc/default/com.ptc.core.components.descriptor.DataUtility

Hi,   Just want to find out if someone has tried such customization before.   We would like attributes to still be populated/edited from the Creo side but it should be read-only in the Windchill user interface.   I have played around in Attribute manager but making settings read-only there then prohibits Creo from being able to save to Windchill.   Appreciate your help.   Thank you

I am wondering where the practical limit of "document" management in Windchill is. How far do I take this?  Right now, my visibility is to Engineering documents, numbered objects and project related data used in product development. Beyond the horizon, there is a whole nother set of documents generated in operations and supply chain. These can include in process build records, supplier material data, test runs, images, data extracts. Many times these could be PDFs, scanned paper, output files, Zips of files.  I am not concerned with the number of files or the size of the files. I assume we can managed those limits. My question revolves around the benefits to just loading all data in PDMLink aligned with our projects and programs. Some of this data is not well organized so creation of a some auto numbering system would be needed.  The goal would be to replace many folders and storage locations to make one stop for all data. Windchill 11.1 m020   Can an existing CAD Worker also create thumbnails?   As I currently understand it, CAD Workers create the representations, and by default, send that back to the Windchill Server to create the thumbnail.  (Unless the configuration has been changed.)   We currently have 6 CAD Workers (all Creo workers), and if my understanding is correct, all six are sending the representations back to the Windchill server to have thumbnails made.  This is causing a backlog and needs to be fixed.   So do thumbnail workers need to be created, or is there a setting or configuration to have the already existing CAD Workers create the thumbnails too?   - marc
