Windchill

I know the latest matrix shows support for only Windows Server 2012, but was wondering if anyone has tried using 2016 and if so, were there any problems. Currently setting up a new server to test. We are getting pressure from our NASA to update all of our Windchill servers to 2016. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I have been looking for some time into how I reuse certain Parameters from windchill in my Excel or Word templates. I can easily see the majority of parameters and reuse these, however I would like to see who last modified the document. If I look at the windchill database it shows who last modified the file quite easily but I simply cannot get this into my documents. Please someone can you tell me the correct syntax to drive this into excel.  I have support with one of the main resellers and they are not making any headway on this for me.    the parameter appears on the windchill page as "Modified by"

Can a QuerySpec be case insensitive?  E.g.   qs = new QuerySpec(WTGroup.class); qs.appendWhere(new SearchCondition(WTGroup.class, WTGroup.NAME, SearchCondition.LIKE, "%"+searchValue), new int[]{0});   Would like to find myString by using "string" or "String" or "STRING" for searchValue above.   I am so sure I've read this somewhere........   Looked through the manuals, will go through again.....

Hi, I am trying to remove an existing effectivity context for a WTpart via code. As far as I have checked, there is no API to do so and have tried using PersistenceHelper.manager.delete(obj), but this throws an exception saying that the 'obj' is an effectivity context and hence cannot be deleted. So, I understand that I need to remove this 'obj' as an 'Effectivity context' from the related part but I don't know how to do that yet. Any clue/suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Since the upgrade to the menus system I now am prompted to sign in to the windchill page. How do I get round this? I'm not sure what my password is as it is a saved one, How do I reset?

I'm trying to get the ACL rule correct for a user to be able to add to his workspace EPM Documents at Released.  His workspace is in a different product than the EPM Document.  I thought that I just needed Read and Download in the Product directory for EPM Documents at Released with the Role that the group is in.  Am I missing something?  I'm on WC 11.0.

Hi all,   I have a small question to reduce the manual work.  I have given a work to change the association of WT parts from doc files to CAD files.  I have 100's of files to associate.   In the progress of work, I need to associate all the CAD files and change the association type of each individual, later I need to delete the related document object.  As there are 100's of file, I am taking more than 05 to 10 days to complete the task.  But I don't want to waste my time working on it.   FYKI, I am using Windchill 10.2   Please provide some suggestions.   Thanks Naga Ranjithkumar A

Something changed when I upgraded from 10.2 to 11.0 and the default task that populates when you create a CN has changed.  We have to different soft type CNs.  Each of them have a different soft type Task.  Back in 10.2 I created a template for our "special" CN so that it would populate the soft type for it because the default had been the "normal" CN task.  Now the "special" task is defaulting when the "normal" CN is created.  I cannot create a template for the "normal" CN because there are attributes on the CN that have to be left blank to force the user to answer them and the template will not allow for them to be blank.  So my question is, how do I change it so that the "normal" task will be the default when creating a CN?

~How to set mail notification frequency if we can ? EX : If we have set the password expiry notification to give alert before 5 Days of password expiry, it will notify users, but will it notify everyday ? and what will be the frequency of getting notification/per day ? Can we set this value ?

Please help me as Windchill M030 has stopped suddenly to publish anything to our MES system. It is not able to create XML file for part/plan/etc we publish from Windchill. Many times my team members pressed OK & all assemblies are revised and checked out & creates a lots of trouble for me. I want to disable Revise and Check out now option. Please do needful

for work spaces with very large cache (>5gb), when first opening the work-space it takes a very long time to open the first file.  My understanding of the cache is that it is a locally stored file.  So between my solid state drive, and my 8 core processor, loading local files should be a breeze.  If i have a new or empty workspace, it does not take so long to load.  So what is windchill/ creo doing that causes this to take so long? 

Hey,   I've done quite a bit of scouring of the forums, help docs, internet and can't for the life of me figure out a suitable way to tie a manufacturer part number to a Windchill Part and have it as a select-able column in either Managed Structure View or BOM Report. All I'm looking for is a WC part attribute, variable, description, etc which will persist with that WC part regardless of BOM manipulation. Right now the only work around I've got to work is using "Reference Designator" in Part Usage Info which is less than ideal. I do understand that PTC offers a module for manufacturer control, but I am not interested in that as we do not need that level of control.   I appreciate your help and time!

I really do not want to have to re-create 71 data monitors that I had built/created in WC 10.2 into WC 11 there must be a way to Copy/Export and Import them into the newer version of Windchill.  It took a lot of hours to get them established and I do not want to have to go through all that work again.  Please let me know if our IT department can get this accomplished for us.  It was enough that we had to re-create all of our CR and CN tasks.

Has anyone else had problems with the recent Firefox 59 update?   I've been using Windchill 11 (11.0 M030 CPS07) via Firefox without problems up to the end of last week.  Yesterday morning (after my initial log-in), Firefox updated to 59 and some time after that Windchill stopped accepting my credentials (across multiple platforms), and I and our IT team have been chasing the problem for about the past working day.  Through multiple trials this morning, it seems that once my account is unlocked (again!) I can access it through IE, and through the embedded IE in Creo, but not in Firefox any more.   Known issue, or should I flag it more formally (if others can corroborate)?

Greetings,We are installing Windchill for the first time at this company and are using:  Windchill 11.0 M030 CPS08, WGM 11.0 M030, Inventor Pro 2017, Windows 10. I am interested in using the Windchill preference Part Structure Override Attribute Name to prevent accidental Auto-Association of WTParts during Check in of new or imported assemblies.  This is an attribute that overrides another action, so YES means that you do want to override the WTPart creation action and prevent the Auto-Associate.  We are going to set the default value to be NO, and if you wanted to prevent a WTPart being created you would change it to YES. My question is, what attribute do I put in my CAD file?  Must it be named Part Structure Override Attribute Name to function properly?  Or is there a way to rename it in the CAD file?As an Admin In Windchill you go to Windchill Preference Management, navigate to Operation ▶ Auto Associate ▶ Pa
