Hello everyone, it is possible to export the primary content of a Part? I want to do this with the "view design files" app. thanks for any answer Nico
I have 2 parts in the affected objects table. They are both being replaced (superseded) by 2 different parts in the resulting objects table. Is there a way for someone looking at this change notice to know which resulting object is superseding which affected object? We could write this in the comment section, but that is very time consuming. Thank you!
Based on the eBOM of a wtPart we created a new view version in the mBOM. The mBOM is restructured and documents, process plans, tooling, etc. are added. wtPart 123 (Design) ---> wtPart 123 (Manufacturing) Due to a engineering change affecting Form Fit Function a new wtPart (eBOM) is created. wtPart 123 (Design) ---> wtPart 345 (Design) Because the differences in definition are only small we want to reuse the existing mBOM (wtPart 123) to create the mBOM for the new wtPart 345. We spent a lot of time to create the initial mBOM and would like to only apply the differences and not to completely rebuild the mBOM from the mBOM. wtPart 123 (Manufacturing) ---> wtPart 345 (Manufacturing) Any one having an efficient way of working to achieve this?
Hello everyone, My heavy hands on experience with Windchill has stopped with 10.2. I have seen demonstration of 11 at Liveworks events and youtube. It seems that in 11 everything is an app. I am currently learning about Enovia 2017 and there everything is an app. I do not know if it is me getting old but I find that those apps are not as efficient than the way you could navigate in 10.2. Also what they call their Social collaboration, seems to be a very uncontrolled and messy areas for people to dump all sort of information and in the training I got, they do product development there.... I assume things will make a lot more sense once I have completed the whole training. I recall PTC also introducing such feature (surely for the millemium generation) but I wonder then how they make the link to PDM so while I agree, a discussion area is necessary, this is only to start generating Idea not to start product development. Can you please share with you
Hello,I am relatively new to Windchill, so this might be very basic to you, but I have finished the Customize Windchill tutorial and still struggling with this. We would like to deploy external Java libraries to the Windchill server and use them in custom Workflows, in the transition part (where we can write custom Java code). I have tried compiling a simple HelloWorld class to .jar, drop it under /codebase/WEB-INF/lib/ and it is recognized by the server, since it passes the "Check syntax" test. However when the workflow runs, it fails to execute the code. So my questions are: How do we deploy our libraries to the Windchill server, i.e., to which folder do we copy them and in which format? (.jar, .java, .class?). Do they need to be compiled on Windchill shell or can I compile them with javac in my machine and just copy the generated file to the server? Is there any way to see the detailed logs from the workflows? (i.e. when the Java code fails during execution, read the

I'm working on testing a relatively straight forward set of workflows and life cycle states to get us to start using Windchill functionality we've not been taking advantage of for the last 17 years. What this looks like is that I'm planning to have users navigate thru different life cycle states with promotion requests, change requests, etc. Each of these create objects (a Promotion Notice, a Change Request, a Change Notice, etc.). How are different people managing these? That's a lot of files to start adding to Windchill. Do you put them in the same folders as the CAD documents they reference? Do you put them in a single folder? How do you manage the size?

Trying to use sub-select (like sub-queries in SQL) in Query Builder with no luck. Could someone provide examples of it?
Looking for how to prevent users checking in new EPMDocuments into Windchill default folder. We have a default folder set in the OIR, if the users do not change the folder before check in, then the EPMDocuments will check in to that default folder. I am looking for a way to prevent users checking into that default folder. I want it to fail check in and force them to select another folder. Can this be done? seems like I have seen this on windchill 10.1, not sure about windchill 11. See our OIR for EPMDocuments below.
Hi All, I just want to know that for Windchill, how many seats or users are available for Heavy & Light User License? Please reply ASAP. Thank you...
Hey, they finally updated Query Builder in Windchill 11.0 and it is quite different. Anyone know of any resources to help to get me up to speed on it?
I see that this has some traction in the community. What we have: We make hearing aids, they are small and so most of our units on the product build are small (oz). Some items like glue or resin (for the molded parts) are purchased in large amounts like gallons. When we imported our materials from Oracle into Windchill during our go-live process to create wtParts, we converted the large measurements to small (it was .007 gal = 1oz). All good. But, now we want to publish the full BOM from Windchill back to Oracle (ESI) including the Unit of Measure. Now we run into the problem of having tens of items that have different units of measure. Our BOM with an item that is 1 oz of something will result in 1 gallon in Oracle. This would be a problem. So what to do? Research seems to suggest that you can't change the UofM in Oracle. It doesn't make sence to use a large unit for a small product so why change it in Windchill just because we buy it in
One of my clients is a Built-To-Print manufacturer. They receive the eBOM from the customer, where each customer has his own part number for standard parts like rivets, bolts, etc. The manufacturing company also has their own library of standard parts. To standardize as much as possible, they exchange the customer part number with their own part number from the library. This way the number of inventory SKU's is limited. For each customer part an alternate part is defined. During eBOM-mBOM transformation the customer part is exchanged with the alternate part. We would like to have this automated during the transformation to the mBOM. Does any one know if this is possible by configuration? Do we need customization to achieve this?
Whether MPMLink provides functionality to copy MBOM created for "Plant A" to create "Plant B" MBOM ? Scenario: Created EBOM and transformed it to MBOM for Plant A. Restructured the MBOM. Trying to copy the "Plant A" MBOM to created "Plant B" MBOM for the same EBOM and to maintain the associativity. Tried the following options, (1) Save As "Plant A" MBOM - It created new MBOM for "Plant B" but with new Part Number. Associative links were not established with the older EBOM. (2) Duplicate "Plant A" MBOM - Created new MBOM for "Plant B" but with new Parent Part Number, associative links was established with the older EBOM (Parent) but MBOM transformation was not propagated to Children. Requirement is to just create new "Plant B" view by copying "Plant A" MBOM.
When I do a RIGHT CLICK to Build Associated Part, I will sometimes get this error. Any suggestions? The image attached, I'm basically Right Click, Build Associated Part, then I get that error. The 12600453-6314.prt is RELEASED now, so not sure if the state change caused some issues. I've had this happen before, and the only fix was to modify a part at released (basically do any random change to generate a new iteration), but that cannot be the soltution.FYI, the 12600453-6314.prt is related as a IMAGE. (We basically have a bunch of different tie wraps that are modeled and used to build the BOM).
Are Arbortext users are having a problem with the change collector. Currently, they Revise the Publication and then some of the Assembly Groups and some of the Graphics. This puts just those items IN WORK. The structure of the Publication will contain many other Assembly Groups and Graphics that have not changed and are still locked from the last CR/CN and are Released for Production state. As they cannot collect from the structure view, they can only select the Publication to start a New Change Request. The problem is that after selecting the Collect Objects and opening up the Return Collected Objects window, the collect dependents return all items structured under the Publication. If we change the filter to only bring in IN Work, it will collect the last In Work iteration even if that is not the highest version. The collector does not show the State of the objects so they need to blindly collect then sort and remove all the items that are Released for Productio
Dear Users, I am trying to write a EPMSuggestBox which will shown all EPMDocument when the Global Atribute DOCUMENT_TYPE= 'SAAF' . When an user is adds windchill doc to the affected or resulting object field of a change activity which is within the change notice, is there somekind of popup alert notifying the user that the windchill doc has been already placed on another separate change notice. Currently, (see screenshot below) there is a symbol next to the Windchill doc showing it exists on a change notice, but looking for somekind of visual popup notice letting the user notice that the document already has been placed on another change notice. Any suggestions or ideas on how a visual popup can be implemented? Below is the symbol that currently displays if the windchill doc exists on a current change notice.
Hi all,We recently found out that about 90% of the files in our PDMLink vaults are viewable files - files produced by our CAD workers for consumption by CreoView. There is a new option in the CreoView 3 cad adapter to output PVZ files instead of individual files (.ol, .ed, .pva, etc.). I can get this option to work by manually going through the motions of publishing a file, but the CAD worker seems to ignore this setting and continues to upload individual viewable files to PDMLink. I opened a call with tech support and PTC is telling me that this is intended functionality, but I'm a bit skeptical.Has anyone had success in using the PVZ format and been able to verify that the files end up in the PDMLink vault as a single compressed viewable file?Any other suggestions on reducing the number of viewable files stored in the vaults? Thanks,Brian GearyJava ArchitectInformation Technologyhermanmiller.com
Hi, I implemented a fix in wt.properties (see line below) and propagated through xconfmanager and also restarted windchill servers. wt.series.MulticharacterSeries.MilSpec.legacyList=1 I see above line added to wt.properties but when I re-run WinDU utility for checking "Version series validation utility", it still shows the following and not listing the line I added: Thu 2/8/18 17:14:26: ******************************************** Thu 2/8/18 17:14:26: * Series definitions from wt.properties * Thu 2/8/18 17:14:26: ******************************************** Thu 2/8/18 17:14:26: wt.series.HarvardSeries.MilSpec.delimiter=. Hello to all, I've to set a Default Value by OIR for an IBA of DataType "long". I've tried the following, but an error appears during upload of OIR. <AttrValue id="DCN_LOOP_COUNT" algorithm="wt.rule.algorithm.StringConstant"> <Arg>1</Arg> </AttrValue> I would be happy to receive any advice on troubleshooting... Let me describe my problem .. We have consolidated two instances of same versioned Windchill system into one.. Now we are observing some issues with Family table. For doing this, we have used custom method to load metadata & Content and then creting links for those loaded metadata. But the present situation is that we are facing problem with FT objects. - For genric part, member in Family Table tree is crossed ( atatched the screen shot ) - For Instances, Family Table is not getting populated. I am looking for cause for this, then only I can able to understand which step of migration went wrong or which has to be repeated to correct it. advise related to this would be very helpful in proceding furthur .. we are actually stuck at this point ..
Windchill 10.0M020: How do we prevent users from creating new objects in the root folder of a product or library? They should be able to create in subfolders. I tried denying permissions for the default domain and granted permissions on a different domain then used it for sub folders, but the sub folders are also getting deny permissions. What is the best way to do this on Windchill 10M020?
Hello I set the storage path of the CAD document to the folder A and checked it in.At check-in, I chose to automatically connect CAD documents to parts as an option.CAD documents are stored in folder AHowever, auto-connected parts are stored in root. How do I put the path of the auto-connected part together in the folder where the CAD document is stored? If you use object initialization rules, you can only assign one path at a time?I want to store the parts connected to the folder where the CAD documents are stored flexibly.Thank you.
