Anyone here looked at migrating off of Windchill to other PLM tools such as ARAS?   If so, what were some of the struggles you ran into on the Windchill side?  Level of Effortt?   ...Asking for a friend...

I just tested an import from another 10.1 server onto my 11.0 server and I'm getting "hierarchy DisplayName is different fomr the value as found in database".   When I check the attribtues on my 11 system the hierarchy DisplayName label is not listed but when I check my 10.1 servers they are listed, has anyone found a work around to this issue concerning the hierarchy DisplayName giving issues when Importing or any other similar issues others may have experienced?   Thanks,

Dear all, - we are working  with Windchill 10.2 and Creo Parametric 4.0 M040. - we have several CATIA and Creo files stored in Windchill. - a DIP (Data Import Profile) is defined. - the DIP points to 2 templates (PRT & ASM template) Scenario 1: open CATIA model in Creo: in the modeltree all defined DTM's (Axis, Coord System, Planes) are visible. Also the MATERIAL was used form the template. So I know that the model template was used. OK!!! Scenario 2: open another CATIA model in Creo: in the modeltree NO DTM's visible. No MATERIAL. NOK!!!   Had anybody here in Forum the same issue? And a resolution?   Many Thanks, Ralf

My team is evaluating WindChill in a sandbox environment and we also have ArborText 7 with Styler installed.  The use case we are looking at is for a user who has access to the WindChill sandbox, but does not have ArborText installed.  These would be people who have experience hand-editing DITA xml as well as for other DTDs.   Here are the steps that what we would like to do:   Download a dynamic document as ASCII text without the using Arbortext as a proxy.  We want to just download the text and open in a free text editor (e.g. notepad or notepadd++).    Edit the document using the free text editor. Upload the edited document as a new version of the original dynamic document we downloaded on step 1. This is something that is quite straightforward to do in a tool like SharePoint, but there is no obvious way in Windchill.  Is it even possible to do what I am asking?    

Suppose if checkout the document how to I edit the Document and Checkin. And also Checkin its tells us to upload the file from local drive.

I am having a difficult time getting my risk level to follow my RPN.  My risk level and matrix are setup for a high, medium, and low.  Where low is green, medium is yellow, and high is red.  What I am trying to get to is if my RPN is less than 125 my risk level is green, 125-200 is yellow and anything over 200 is red.  Any help would be great.

Currently have two separate but very similar Query Builder Reports that I would like to combine into one.   Both reports are for change notices, and we create change notices for both EPM Documents (CAD) as well as WTDocuments (PDF).  So we have three scenarios for the change notice : Only EPMDocs. Only WTDocs Both  The two existing reports work fine separately, but when combined deliver incorrect results.   I suspect that I don't have the joins done correctly.   Any advice?    

I have to export my project in windchill quality solution 11 and the file must be compatible with the version 10.1 How can i save the project in an older version?  

Hi All,Upon running WINDU i got a potential problem as "SeriesSortIdDiagnosticTask"I had followed the steps in the caseCS52067https://support.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS52067&source=Bloop When Windchill server is fully up we execute the below command in Windchill Shell and ensure correct number of sort ids are repopulated. We use Windchill Site Administrator credentials when prompted to complete the execution of command.windchill wt.series.SeriesSortValuePopulaterBut thereafter there is no result. I had entered the command in Windchill and thereafter nothing got processed or executed. Within windchill shell it shows nothing (like the cursor goes to the next line but nothing is getting processed) and also there is no change in the method server log/background method server logs. I am starting to load Supplier Management data. To do that I need to create Suppliers. I can do this as wcadmin and create a new Organization for each Suppler or use our current company org. These Suppliers can be created at Org or Site. When the role that has the ability to create AML/AVL items (parts) selects the org, the search only returns some Suppliers and not others? Why? They can see some that are at Site and some at Org. Some have the Supplier have it's own Organization and others use company Org. They all have the same lifecycle. Any ideas?

Hi All,   Any recommendation on working with jquery in the change management. I have requirement to toggle attribute display based on another attribute. Windchill 11.1 new feature on cascade attribute doesn't satisfy as it doesn't have logical conditioning of the attribute values ( ie AND and OR).    But somehow jquery is not fetching any object in the change management page.   Help me if you have worked on this kind of approach.

After searching for and finding files in my windchill interface, is there a way that I can; 1. Add selected files to my workspace 2. Request a revision for the selected files 3. Checkout the selected files all in a single action?

Has anyone configured the rules.xml file when importing Libraries from one system to another (10.1->11.0) using the Import utility? Attached is the file I need to configure, I just need to know if attribute part errors I'm receiving when attempting to Import a Library is what ONLY needs to be configured in the rules.xml file?

Hi All,   For one of our customers, we configured Windchill (WC_11.0 version) and so as Mail Server. They are using Office 365 as their mail server (in cloud). So I configured Windchill SMTP with port 587 and used other properties like user name and password. Now if I send mails from Windchill, logs are showing that they er successfully delivered but actual user is not getting mails in his inbox. As per my knowledge I asked customer's IT admins to Whitelist mails coming from Windchill. They could not understand that and asking me to confirm the mailid to which they need to whitelist. Infact whenever I tried to send mail to any user from Windchill, their mail server logs shows that from address is postmaster@machinename. They are saying that if there is a mailid instead of machine name, they can whitelist. Can u suggest how I can explain better to them.. Please suggest me for the same. Looking for help with workflows from NX PCB exchange (A Maya product) to Windchill 10.The IDX xml file from Cadence when imported ino NX loads all 3D components only if they are present in the local workspace. Can NX search from our global Windchill database across projects and load parts that are listed in the xml .idx file?

Hi All!How do you use Alternate and Substitute? Let say I have two sets of hardware components for a particular product - cheap for preproduction use (testing and so on) and expencive for production. How do I set alternation or substitution only in the context of one product? How do I show that component has been substituted in the context of this particular BOM? right now it lists all replacement and substitutions, but nothing points "use this component instead" here. And since I am replacing a library component it adds replacement everythere it has been used - in all products...Any suggestions or best practices are appreciated!BTW I am trying it in wc10 PDM Link.Thank you,😄

Hi. Paths to actions.dtd and actionmodels.dtd are wrong in some \codebase\config\actions\*.xml They look like '../../actions.dtd' and '../../actionmodels.dtd'. Why? How i can fix this? Thanks.

I m in need of checking the exact procedure to perform Local Replication. Perhaps I am missing the point of what the Supplier Organization for a new Supplier should be. I was going to create a New Organization (in Participant Administration) for each new Supplier. "Acme PLM" would be the Organization. "Acme PLM" would be the New Supplier with an Organization of "Acme PLM" How are others using this?
