Greetings all,  I've an interesting question.  It is more about the process, not (at this time) concerned with the customization. We are about to install Windchill 11.0 in a company that has not had it in the past.  We will connect it with SAP.    We are working out how to manage our ECN workflow.  Currently our idea is for our parts go from In Work to Under Review, then either Prototype, Pilot, or Released.  We want the Engineering work to complete on Change Tasks, then some SAP work to be done by various Implementors about the company.  Then, when those Implementation tasks are complete, we want the ECN to go to Resolved. The questionable area is between the completed Engineering work, and the final Resolution of the ECN. I'm calling this the 'in between' phase. The Engineering work is done and the parts are 'Released' yet more SAP must be completed before the ECN is really finished. The parts need to be in a state that SAP work can be don

I have created a folder in my created product. I want to set it to when a new part is created in the product, no matter where it is created, it will immediately be placed in my created folder. How would I set it to where this will happen? Do I modify the OIR of the parts that I want to be immediately placed in the folder? If so, how would I do this?

Here's a new one... WC11 M030 relatively new installation.   Have created sub-types for a number of Data Types... we can keep it to Documents for the purpose of this question.  Display Name has been set when creating in the Type and Attribute Manager Utility, but on Object Details Page the internal name {com.mycompany.objSubType} is displayed. Any clues?

In the usage of CAD integration ,When should we really use a sub type of and EPMDocument?Having a multiCAD environment is a probable valid scenario?My opinions:Basically subtyping should be used if you are going to have clear scenarios where some EPMDocuments should behave in another way, for example in case ofACL.If there is a necessity to have 2 or more different set of attributes for each type of EPMDocument to determine the behaviourthen, is this a valid case of subtyping of EPMDocument?Iam looking for valid scenarios and how only the subtyping can address the requirement?What are the pros and cons of subtyping EPMDocument - CAD ? How to move replica site of a location to master site at aother location?   Can someone guide me with the steps involved in moving replica site from one site to another/master site.  

I need to create a new action for my created subtype. This has to appear in the actions present in the details page. Do I go into the folder system of the windchill server? How would I add actions to subtypes I create?

Hi,   I have this issue with so many files. I already have generic files checked in in windchill. I checked out those files to create instances. But now I am unable to check in both generic as well as instance files. I have tried everything. But every time it gives error  Conflict Management Auto numbering: Auto-generated number or filename not unique for generic file.

I'm currently trying to export a list of parts in my created product. I need to export the data to an excel sheet with the following columns: Name, number, revision, iteration, state, created date, modified date, container name. Where would I find the location of windchill that allows me to create an export template that I need and how would I do it?

When trying to do a set state on the created part(Which is in In work) it should show only one state in the drop down 'Approved'. Is this done in the created life cycle for the part? If so, how would I set this up?

I have a need to create ObjectBeans in the preProcess phase on the Form lifecycle which later phases such as the doOperation and the delegates phases will process as if those ObjectBeans had been created like the ones for a multi-creation table form.   I understand that it is the responsibility of the FormProcessorController or of a FormProcessor to create the ObjectBeans and to structure these into the simple list or in a more hierarchical form in a method such as preProcess() or createObjectBeanStructure().   Reviewing the provided Customization documentation and any samples which I can find, I do not find examples where ObjectBean.newInstance() or its parameterized form is called.   Therefore, I am a bit in the dark about how to properly instantiate new ObjectBeans. HOW CAN A GROUP VARY FROM A TEAM IN TERMS OF FUNCTIONALITY & TECHNICALITY?

Hello everyone, I have to build a Custom App in PTC Navigate 1.5.2 that can download Windchill representable files (ex pvz, pvs). I already have a Java class that query Windchill and extract representation download URL; now I wondering if it is possible use some service already defined in Navigate or I must write a my own extension.   Another question is how i can develop a Thingworx extension that can use the Windchill API.   Thank you Giorgio

I have multiple documents I'm trying to edit attributes. When I select them in the library, I choose Edit>Edit Multiple Objects. I can change the attribute value in the table. I changed my table view to see columns with my custom attributes. When I save or select Check In, I get the "Required information is missing", Indicating the required fields are missing. But I've selected to "Keep existing primary file". I'm just editing the attributes. But it seems like it wants me to Browse for the file to replace. Is there a solution to this? I don't need to replace the file.

Has anyone implemented a feature in v11.x of FlexPLM related to raw material size variations?  We are trying to find an efficient way to manage raw materials, like zippers, which are offered in multiple lengths. We'd like to know if v11 supports price effectivity at the size variation level.    We'd appreciate any information related to this.   Thank you.

Hi Experts     I have installed WC in my laptop (act as WC server/client/SQL DB server) for demo & test purposes.   I have used it for few months now and so it is currently with many CAD/nonCAD files, preference settings, products, my own query builder reports (no programming)..etc.,   Now I want to switch to a new clean SQL DB. Is this possible. Then I can same way switch back to current DB if anything to be referred.   I am using WC 11 M20 CPS12   Kindly let me know the outline of steps (if possible).    Thank you, Ravi  

We have always had a question about why the Windchill browser tables have a slow fill after scrolling up or down. It is the same lag in commonspace or local workspace, online or offline.  If you scroll a couple of pages at a time you see a blank table and ...  wait for it ... the table fills and you can see where you are.  If you haven't scrolled enough you have to blindly scroll again. Hi,   Does anyone have a quick trick for hiding the PDM/PJL Interoperability menus in a single Project?   I'd like to remove all these items to simplify a project that is only used for document management. Removing Send to PDM, Convert to Share, Convert to PDM Checkout, Undo PDM Checkout, Resolve Identity Conflict, Update Project and Remove Share will make this menu much less intimidating for casual users.

Since upgrading from 9.1M030 to 9.1M062 we now see CAD drawings assoicated to WTParts via a link type called "calculated" when previously it was the passive link type "content"I found a little bit of information on the PTC site about this but it does not explain the reason for the changehttps://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS11410https://www.ptc.com/appserver/cs/view/solution.jsp?n=CS21363Can anybody shed any light on this. I presume this is simply to distinguish between content links created manually/deliberately and those created automatically by the system resulting from the owner link between the 3D model used on the drawing and a WTPart.I need to decide whether or not to convert them to "content" or leave them as "calculated". Are there any implications to doing one or the other that I should know about?RegardsDarren

In the case of visualization, changes are not made to subcomponents.For example, all CAD data published on the first server has version A.1, and the assembly visualizes the subcomponents of A.1.After modifying and verifying some of the following subcomponents, each component has A.2, but the assembly still displays A.1 and does not display the latest appearance of the modified components.You must also check in the assembly again to see the latest appearance.   Do I have to check in every time a subcomponent changes to keep all assemblies in which the component is used up to date?   Is there another good suggestion?   thanks
