Windchill

  I am using Windchill ProjectLink 10.2 M030.   I have created a project plan which has 5-6 activities, which needs to start after one another.  i.e Activity 2 must start on completion of Activity 1 only and Activity 3 to start after completion of activity 2 and so on.  Hence in activty 2, I have given the predecessor relationship as "1FS" and in activity 3, "2FS" and so on.  But on starting the project, all activities are available at the same time for respective users and activities are not following the reqd sequnce.  Activity does not wait for predecessor avtivity to complete.  Has anyone faced similar issues while working on ProjectLink? Any help regarding the same would be appreciated.  Best regards Sharath

When transforming a eBOM to an mBOM, we have been duplicating without propagating child design parts (basically quick copy / paste).  We have noticed that there are links created between a design part in eBOM and the as-is design part in the mBOM.  The preference Allow Creation of Equivalence Link to Self controls this and the default is yes.....can anyone explain the pros and cons of leaving this yes or changing to no.  My gut tells me that we should just leave alone.....but I at least want to know why.  What would be the use case for both?

I have created a change notice but don't want to use advanced life cycle but when I use Basic it seems I am not advancing my CAD objects though the workflow but only advancing the workflow itself?  I am new to the workflow creation and think My issue might be right at the beginning because I don't get a task assigned.  Goes straight to my updates?  I would send a screen shot of my workflow but have since deleted it because it didn't work.  Going to start from scratch.  The life cycle I want to use is the OOTB two phase..  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in AdvanceEd

Hi all,I've created a document structure.  For each object in that structure, I've attached a "New URL Link attachment".  The URL looks something like:File://server_location/filename.htmBut, when I try to use the link (by clicking on it), the URL has a string (the string "unallowed") inserted.  In the web browser, it turns to:unallowedFile://server_location/filename.htmIs there any way to prevent the string “unallowed” from being inserted into the URL?Regards,Graham

Currently Windchill Workgroup Manager doesn't support these drawing formats extensions .slddrtUser have to store the formats files in a shared folder to insert or modify a frame in a drawing.These files would be managed by Windchill

Working offline today since they doing maintenance and I forgot to unlock an assembly and a drawing I was planning on working on. Any idea if I can unlock the drawing in my workspace when I am offline?

Greetings Gurus,I am wondering if anyone has discovered a way to show a direct link to the viewable file (in our case the PDF) for a CAD drawing in the search results or any other view for that matter?We recently had a member of our user community say the number one enhancement they would like to see in Windchill is the ability to directly open the PDF (resulting from published CAD drawing) directly from the search results table.  It is too many layers down to actually be able to open the PDF file in adobe.I was thinking maybe using Alias attribute on EPM document to show a link to the associated viewable file? Any help is appreciated.BR,Cam

What does the upgrademanager do on the fileservers? To run a rehearsal upgrade from a test server, I would like to simulate a replica fileserver without vault content by creating the folder structure and validating the folders in the UI. The production replica servers have too much content to easily clone for a rehearsal.This is not officially supported but I wondered if it would work. Has anyone tried something like this? Seems like it is worth a try. If it doesn't work I can rerun the upgrademanager and use "Manually Configure File Servers Post Upgrade."Mark

One of my customers has very strict requirements with regard to information security. As a result, all mail traffic from Windchill to external companies is forbidden and blocked by configuration. However, they also would like to send (encrypted) Package Deliveries directly by mail from Windchill. But, still block all other mailing capabilities in Windchill.Intensive collaboration with external companies is supported by fixed VPN connections and ProjectLink. For other less intense collaboration we would like to use the Package Delivery by mail, directly from Windchill to have all information sharing traceable.Any of you having experience with these kind of requirements? I am looking for possibilities for configuration of Windchill or configuration of infrastructural solutions to achieve this use case.

Dear all,is there a way to pass the link between the child and the parent to a custom action? I need to develop a customization where the quantity is needed and I have to found a way to do it, possible as much "standard" as I can .Thank youRiccardo

I have two similar subassembly in the windchill with two different name. This two subassembly used in two different projects. how I can merge it has one  subassembly and to be used in two places.

I have a whole assembly that is not obsolete.But some of the parts inside it are in obsolete state. I have the permission to change change it to "in work" state.But there are some parts in another context in the same name which is "in work" state. So is it ok to change the state to "in work" that is in my context?

I want to excel the windchill table so that i can find the list of parts and drawings and their state.

I'm trying to create a report with query builder that shows WTParts with IBAs & two different WTDocument types with their IBAs associated with that WTPart. I've been able to show the WTPart with it's IBAs & the documents. But when I add IBAs from one of my WTDocuments, I receive many duplicate results. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent these duplicate results?

Is there an opt-in/opt-out functionality (to opt-out of newer functionalities and to get only bug fixes) when installing Windchill 10.2 or 11 ?

Hello Everyone,I am new to windchill customization. I am to write a custom page, in which i am show some questions and text area for answers, and a submit button. I am to take those question and answers and pass to server when user clicks submit button and page should get redirected to Product folder page. Till now i am able to create custom JSP page using HTML and JavaScript. i have made submit button using action tag in JSP. Can somebody guide me how i can achieve this or better way to achieve this. please refer the attachment.

You could tell from the topic that I’m fairly new to ProjectLink…  I’ve read the old doc (we’re on 10.2 M030) “Integral Operations Between Windchill PDMLink and Windchill ProjectLink”, ploughed through topics on this forum, tested ACL, but it all don’t quite come together.  The scenario is not new. There’s a requirement that external designers (contractors) access CAD-data and Parts via ProjectLink. To make it more simple for own users we’re going to have only one product context in PDMLink. Some of the externals should be limited with what they see in PDMLink, others probably could see all. If possible, externals could be allowed to work on Released / Approved content ie. revise, but since Modify rights are required in PDMLink to be able to work on items shared to ProjectLink this does not seem like an option.  How do you set it all up? How to limit what they see in PDMLink?

One of our Windchill wtparts has the below icon, when you hover over, it reads configurable module.What is it?  How did it become that icon?  How do I change it back to the normal wtpart icon?

Hello.I am working on a customization.I have my external enumerated value list customization on which I  pass a string as parameter (from the type and attribute management) to find a specific context.This works fine, however I'd like to pass to the parameter, the context gathered from the "create window" via NmCommandBean.Is this even possible?I know I can get the context from a datautility, maybe is it possible to pass it to the external enumerated class?Thank you for your help.Antonio

I saw a demonstration at the last PTC conference  related to the PTC Navigator.  I am having a horrible time finding any information on details regarding how it works or someone to discuss the details.   Anyone out there have any idea?
