Windchill Customization

I see that this has some traction in the community. What we have: We make hearing aids, they are small and so most of our units on the product build are small (oz). Some items like glue or resin (for the molded parts) are purchased in large amounts like gallons. When we imported our materials from Oracle into Windchill during our go-live process to create wtParts, we converted the large measurements to small (it was .007 gal = 1oz). All good. But, now we want to publish the full BOM from Windchill back to Oracle (ESI) including the Unit of Measure. Now we run into the problem of having tens of items that have different units of measure. Our BOM with an item that is 1 oz of something will result in 1 gallon in Oracle. This would be a problem.   So what to do? Research seems to suggest that you can't change the UofM in Oracle. It doesn't make sence to use a large unit for a small product so why change it in Windchill just because we buy it in

Let me describe my problem ..   We have consolidated two instances of same versioned Windchill system into one.. Now we are observing some issues with Family table.   For doing this, we have used custom method to load metadata & Content and then creting links for those loaded metadata.   But the present situation is that we are facing problem with FT objects. -   For genric part,  member in Family Table tree is crossed ( atatched the screen shot ) -  For Instances,  Family Table is not getting populated.   I am looking for cause for this, then only I can able to understand which step of migration went wrong or which has to be repeated to correct it.   advise related to this would be very helpful in proceding furthur ..  we are actually stuck at this point ..

Hi I have a webject to modify the password of a user. When I run this it produces the error: (com.infoengine.util.IEResource/81) com.infoengine.exception.fatal.IENotFoundException: File not found: /ext/savaco/lvd/QueryUserDetails.xml The xml file does exists at C:\PTC\Windchill_10.2\Windchill\tasks\ext\savaco\lvd and looks like;   The java code looks like:     Can anyone know why this error is issued ? Hi Is there any possibility to create a new view version of a WTPart where the "Revise Transition" is not defined? If I use    WTPart mPart = (WTPart) ViewHelper.service.newBranchForView(part, "Manufacturing"); mPart = (WTPart) PersistenceHelper.manager.store(mPart); I will get the error, that no revise transition is not defined. The method ViewHelper.service.newBranchForView does not throw any exception. This is thrown when storing the new WTPart.   Caused by: (wt.lifecycle.lifecycleResource/223) wt.util.WTException: Revise transitions not defined for current version in life cycle template.   I don't wan't to set any "dummy" revise transition for only creating a new view. Did anybody find a workaround? Thanks for any help.

Hi,I am trying to write a program that will check WTUsers to see when they last logged into Windchill. I have code that worked against our LDAP, but ran outside of Windchill. We need to move this inside Windchill in order to keep WTUser and LDAP User in sync.  I've written Listeners before that will listen for an event, but I haven't written any scheduled services yet.  Is there any examples that can help me?  I can get the functionality working based on my previous code, but I'm not sure how to make it "scheduled" in Windchill.

Greetings, I am just starting the process of configuring Supplier Management. After creating a few Vendor Parts and selecting a Vendor (Org) for each I have found that I can see all the vendor items from a Suppler (Browse / Supplier List / View info for Vendor / then it shows all the Vendor parts. What I can not see is a way to view who the Suppler is from a Vendor Part? That would be nice if we could see who the supplier was from the Vendor part: I can add an attribute (category) and manually enter in the name of the Suppler but that seems a little unnecessary when WC already knows the association as I can see the part from the Supplier. What am I missing?

I configured SSL & HTTPS using CS159762 But IE and Chrome are both not safe!I installed it on a trusted root certificate authority through View Certificate in IE.After that, the certificate status shows "This is a valid certificate." But Chrome is still marked as unsafe! Why is not it safe?When configuring SSL & HTTPS, can not it be self-signed to be marked safe?Thank you   Note openssl.cnf has not been modified

Greetings Windchillers, I have a question.  We are going to be using the Deviation action in Variance to document our nonconforming items. Everything works well except we have one issue.  For a Deviation that is not Resolved by an ECN, we are seeking a method to set it to Resolve besides Resolving it administratively.  We thought about putting a timer robot to resolve it 90 days after the Approval, but that is not flexible, in case we need to change a date.   Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.   James Hall PLM Administrator/Analyst Swisslog Healthcare (North America) Windchill 11.0 M030 , WGM 11.0 M030, Inventor Pro 2017, Windows 10

Has anyone ever created the need to soft type a work item?  Is it even possible?  We can soft type it in Type/Attribute Manager.  But I'm not sure if we can configure Windchill to use that soft type that was created.   This question has come up because we want to add several attributes to the work item.  If we can soft type it, then those additional attributes can be limited to just 1 organization in Windchill.  And the other organizations won't be bothered with these extra attributes if they don't want to see them.   The same question has come up regarding Affected data for both the Change Request and the Change Activity.  We would like to create several additional attributes, but limit the scope to just 1 organization.

Hi all,   The idea is to create a new attribute that is read only until the value of the Default Trace Code Attribute is set to Serial Number. Once set to Serial Number the new attribute can be selected.  Did anyone try something similar?   Alex

Hi. I'm trying to add form submission validation for Promotion Request creation wizard. But it doesn't work. So: 1) i have my own validator class ext.nikiet.validators.CreatePRValidator with implemented validateFormSubmission method2) this class is registered in codebase/service.properties wt.services/svc/default/com.ptc.core.ui.validation.UIComponentValidator/CreatePRValidation/null/0=ext.nikiet.validators.CreatePRValidator/duplicate 3) this validator is added to action in PromotionRequest-actions.xml <action name="create" .... afterVK="CreatePRValidation"> But CreatePRValidator is not created, and its method validateFormSubmission is not invoked during promotion request creation.In jcaDebug mode DefaultUIComponentValidator is displayed for wizard ok button.What am i doing wrong?Thanks.   ps: windchill version 11.0 M030-CPS05

We recently found that Query Builder is creating SQL that performs very poorly (full table scans) specially if ProjectLink and/or SUMA was used and wanted to know if anyone else has seen this? We think we found out why and wonder it it might be affecting commonly used customization code as well.   We are heavy users of Query Builder and have some very large clients with large DBs, One recently reported very poor performance of a large QB query and asked us to investage. We discovered that the SQL generated was doing full table scans and was taking many minutes to execute. We looked at the SQL and found that there was a union on a table called WorkItem and ProjectWorkItem. We wrote some example code using java to mimic the creation of SQL. It turns out that the ORM model of Windchill means that if includeDependencies is on the API uses this union structure in the SQL that is causing the full table scan.   Q1. Hello,I am looking to trigger a catia macro prior to or post PDM actions.  Our intent is that when a user performs an action such as Save, or check in from either the CATIA app or WGM Workspace, a CATIA macro would be triggered before or after the event.Would the WGM toolkit be the solution for creating and implementing this type of functionality?  Are there any references available to better my understanding of the logic?Thanks!

My company is using PDM Essentials.  We're on Release 10.2 M020-CPS08.   Is it possible to add/update parameters and designate them without checking out part/assembly files?  If so, how?

I am having troubles defining custom data types in a workflow and would appreciate it if someone can give me some advice. To create a new variable in an activity, the "Type Name" has to be selected from the existing data types. It is possible to import a custom class using "Windchill classes", so I tried using the com.acme.Pet (from the tutorial) but this only shows the label and there is no field to assign the value to. How can I specify the type of the value? If I want to have a dropdown, like for the wt.org.WTUser, with dog, cat and Gerbil, how should I proceed?    Thank you for your help in advance! 

We're having issues with publishing Creo and Solidworks files on a test environment with the latest Creo Adapters.  The workers are set up, configured and seemingly functioning. For both Creo and Solidworks, the "Test Server" comes back successful but on publishing we get an error. I've looked thru the community here and there are a couple of topics dealing with the --15 error. Hello, if I externalize some code from a Workflow (right click over workflow -> Externalize Expressions), how can I modify it? Is it possible to modify the generated .java file and recompile it somehow afterwards?Thank you very much in advance

I recently ran into a problem when trying to use an attribute (attribute1) value for the number using OIR code like this: <!-- set the number to attribute1 value plus a generated number --> <AttrValue id="number" algorithm="com.ptc.windchill.enterprise.revisionControlled.server.impl.NumberGenerator"> <Attr id="attribute1"/> <Arg>{GEN:wt.enterprise.SequenceGenerator:WTDOCUMENTID_seq:7:0</Arg> </AttrValue>   The NumberGenerator algorithm concatenates the numbers together, but using the value of attribute1 seems to be a problem when using an enumeration constraint with the attribute. Even though the value of attribute1 might be a number in the UI, the internal name of the enumeration is added before the attribute value when used in the OIR. We already create PDF, DXF for a drawing in windchill, but it would be great to also have a high resolution JPG. According to the given article, it should be possible, but I can't find how it's done. I have created and designated a few feature parameters for a Cable, the Windchill WTPart is set to accept these parameters, the Cables have been designated via Model Intent > Designate, and WTParts get created for the cables upon check-in, but the WTPart parameters don't get populated with the designated feature parameter values.   Has anyone had any luck with this?

On Windchill 10.2 I have a large number of promotion requests across our business all within varying product folders, is there a way to run a report or search which can show all promotion requests and which part of the work flow they are in? Our set up is such that we send a file for approval which then has two approvers after approver A has approved it moves on to approver B, I would like to be able to monitor where the approval is in its life cycle across all of the products we have at the ssame time to get an overview of the business as a whole and monitor how approvals are progressing.   Does anyone know know how to do this or set up a search that would enable this?    

The OOTB RuleAlgorithms available in Windchill for object initialization do not include a string concatenator that allows whitespace. The OOTB com.ptc.windchill.enterprise.revisionControlled.server.impl.NumberGenerator algorithm will concatenate together strings and attribute values, but it trims whitespace. Using a few lines of code, I was able to create my own.
