I have not used the Thermal Mode of Creo Simulate and I'm struggling with this problem. I have a hot exhaust component that is heating a nearby pin joint and causing grease in the joint to leak out. There is a gap between the components of about 31mm so the only way for the exhaust to heat the pin joint is by convection and radiation. The exhaust is 300 degrees C and the ambient temperature is 0 degrees C. I want to determine how hot the pin joint gets after X amount of time, say 5-10 minutes. I don't know what the heat load is so I am trying to do this with prescribed temperature boundary conditions. I looked through the course viewer but didn't find anything that helped me with this problem. Is Creo Simulate even capable of doing this or do I need to go to Creo Flow Analysis? This is a simplified version of the model. I'm representing the exhaust with the yellow part. 

When I load one of the example project files, the tab will appear; however, any models of my own will not have the tab, and there is no option to make it visible either.I am launching Creo from the FloEFD executable in the start menu, and the Simcenter splash appears while Creo loads, so it is infact working. It just can't be used.   

I am using Creo Parametric 8.0 8.0.0.0Analysis fails after mesh is created and 99% of the FEA is completed of a fairly complex assembly. The same assembly has been successfully analysed in Creo Simulate.

I'm running a Structure Study in Creo Ansys and it will complete the Mesh and Solve, but will not complete the Results. It is stuck at 0%. Does anyone have a detailed solution of how to fix this issue that they are willing to share?Thanks. 

Hello everyone,  I need a small information from your side. As i am performing modal analysis for my structure. My geometry is very simple made up of granite material. I would like to describe my problem in points, that would be easy to unterstand,  1. Firstly, i did the static analysis of my structure, where the outcome was acceptable. I mean to say the deformation (0.00155mm) and the stress (1.004Mpa) were under the limit.  2. Then i performed the modal analysis of my structure with same constraint and load collector, where i have selected 6 eigen mode. After the analysis I got the E1 (507.741Hz) to E6 (1358.87Hz) value.  3. Can someone explain me how to read the modal analysis results, because at each eigen value the results getting changed. Also, should I consider the deformation and the stress value from the modal analysis? Because compare to the static analysis their values are very high.  I would appreciate if anyone have a look on this concern. Thanks S

Hi all, Using Creo 4.0  I would like to ask some advice about how you would constrain this (red brownish) U shaped bracket for the shown load situation.  The bracket has 2 holes with a pin in it (so it can rotate). Both holes are loaded with force F/2.Force F is applied on a bolt that is placed in a screwthreaded hole in the bracket. I have modeled the bracket like this:For the pin hole, I use a bearing load with force F/2. I use a displacement constrain to implement symmetry on the cutting surface: I use a surface region to constrain in the axial direction of the screw hole. (cylindrical CS). This model calculates fine, but as can be expected, I have a stress peak at the side of the surface region.Not sure if that is entirely realistic. A slightly different approach is to exchange the screw hole by an 'embedded' bolt, and constrain the tip of the 'bolt': This results in a (lower) stress peak at the indicated spot below. We've created a lattice structure using the Engineering - Lattice tool by first extruding a solid and then replacing it with a lattice. Our lattice is a formula-driven gyroid with Replace body with lattice checked. When we export the part as a STL-file and try to import it in to our CAD software it fails.When checking the geometry in meshlab using Filters - Quality, Measures and Computation - Compute geometric measures we get :"Mesh is not watertight, no information on volume, barycenter and inertia tensor" Any ideas on how to proceed? PTC CREO 8.0.4.0

Hello, I try to to analyse gears using the mecanism application in creo 7.0.5.0.When i creating angular motor, this one is greyed out in the mecanism tree:As the consequence, motor can't be used in the analysis :(However when i create linear motor, this one can be retrieve in the analysis definition)Does the problem come from a license that we don't have for angular motors ? Regards,Arnaud   

Hi, My question is on the Result Type - Strain Energy per unit volume 1. After running a Modal Analysis, Strain Energy per Volume can be viewed either  by Graph or by Fringe. What is the difference between them 2. Under the Graph - Strain Energy per volume and selecting a curve, is this the  strain energy of the unit volume or of the the curve ie an edge of the assembly.          

I've found the series of videos for Creo Ansys, which are somewhat helpful, and I took the half day class for Creo Ansys as well.  However, I want to take a deeper dive into the various types of joints to better  understand how they function. For Creo Simulate, there are tutorials from PTC that you complete at your own pace. There are downloadable files for these tutorials so you can actually perform the tasks instead of just watching someone else do it. I haven't been able to find these types of tutorials for Creo Ansys. Does anyone know where I can find this kind of self-pace training for Creo Ansys?

I am setting up a simple beam bending simulation of a simply supported L channel.  its 3x2x.025.  It is 24" long and 2 equally spaced load of 25000# each.  When I verify my results using the bending equations I am way off.  Can anyone suggest what is going on?   

Hi all,   I am very new CREO and have been exploring how to design PCBs in CREO. The Company that I work for requires to some work to be done in thermal analysis (Steady State and Transient Analysis) of PCB on CREO. I have tried to import files from KICAD. But when I try to import the .emp or .emn files all I get to see the PCB rectangle board. I have also tried creating a PCB on CREO but it doesnt come out correctly.   So I require further assistance/tutorial/reading material: 1) How design a PCB on creo? 2) How to open files from other ECAD Software? 3) How to go about performing a thermal analysis. Especially for the Material and Boundary Conditions. What are the limitations of CREO and how to deal with error while importing the files?    License Details: Basic.   I understand my questions could be quite broad and would require more details, but it would great if I can find something to start of with as it more like a learning curve.   Thank you so much

Hello, I'm trying to create and simulate contact analysis on mounted parts there are 6 main frames, 12 bolts and 4 pins with around 20 contacts defined. simulation doesn't converge at all. everything i've tried didn't get me anywhere always contact area is dancing around and residual factor too. I'm sure that I have defined all the contacts in all the places. All the frames are modelled as 1 part and all the bolts has slight interpenetration to create pretension. But it doesnt converge at all. Is there any good practice how to create contact simulation with many contacts? \  Things that i've tried: create pretension, delete pretension, fine mesh, rough mesh, change parameter called sim_contact_tolerance_factor increase/decreace, change convergence settings, finite friction, infinite friction, 0 friction, Example of convergence:    Load factor : 1.00000e-01 Residual norm tolerance: 1.00000e-09 -------------------------------------

Can an autogem mesh created from a subassembly and saved be re-used in a top-level assembly autogem mesh?  I'm using Creo Simulate (Creo Parametric 7.0.10.0), native mode. I have saved several subassembly meshes and I would like to use them in a top-level assembly, but I'm unable to make it work.  The subassembly meshes do not appear in the top level with all the connections that were created at that level;  I must recreate them at the top level.  The saved meshes are stored in the active workspace in Windchill as .mma files (.mmp files for parts). I noticed that there is more literature available related to assembly meshes when using FEM mode.  Is that the mode I should be using to create and save meshes for this task?  Can this not be done using native mode? Thanks!

There is no way to check node ids for meshes that are not in FEM mode. When I output the results of modal analysis in ASCII, the node IDs and mode vectors in the XYZ directions are output, but there is no way to confirm where these node IDs point in the model. (Mechanica had a way to check) Isn't it strange that CreoSimulate can't do what Mechanica does? I have a list of ~500 part numbers in Microsoft Excel, which I need to document the volume of. Is there a way I can have Creo Parametric use the part number list in Excel to open the parts from Windchill, measure the volume and write the volume in the Excel file?
