Analysis

 I was trying to create an isolated small surface "region" in a big surface like the small rectangular surface patch on the above enclosure. I am going to export its step file into ANSYS then mesh the small patch and name it as "leak inlet", so that it can be used in CFD simulation as an inlet BC. However, there is no document or instructions on how to do it. My real "enclosure" is very complicated. I failed to export its step file into SpaceClaimer or ModelDesigner, therefore "imprint" is not available. If the small surface region can be created in CREO (just like in Simulate) then export to ANSYS mesh tool, everything becomes easy. Is there anyway to create this small surface region in CREO? Thanks.

I am modeling an electronics chassis with circuit cards in it.  The material properties of the PCBs are defined in the model and they are showing as solid components in the  simulation domains list.  The fluid domain appears to appropriately have "negative space" where the PCBs are.  However, when I run the model and I try to investigate the surface temperatures of the PCBs by selecting them in "boundary conditions", selecting "yes" for surfaces and "Temperature" for a variable, nothing shows up.  When I do a cut plane through the chassis, the heat dissipation from the PCBs is obviously changing the air temperature, but I can't see the PCBs themselves   I'm a relatively new user so I suspect there's something basic I'm missing.  I've reviewed the tutorials and online documentation and it's not obvious to me what's going on.    @tmoser you were very helpful yesterday - much appreciated!  If you have any insight t

I have a cylindrical, rubber isolator that is essentially bonded between an inner and outer steel tube in a larger assembly.   I keep getting a warning about the large difference in modulus values and my analysis keeps crashing.   Is it possible to bond different materials together in an analysis?

Hi – I hopefully have a quick Creo analysis Flow question.  I have an assembly and in Flow it’s not letting me change the material properties of the solid domains. I go to each component and select the material from the pulldown menu and hit OK.  I then click on materials to see if my change took and it still displays "none" for material In an older simpler model I was able to change materials, now I can’t .  How can I fix this?  I tick the "force update" box and that doesn’t help Thanks! Mark 

Is there a way to convert a MTR (Mold Analysis Material file)  into a MTZ file? A custom material can only be imported as MTZ file. Thanks in advance for your help! CheerEOMarco 

Refer to the above two screenshots, they are the same stress profile picture, thus should have the same color presentation. However, we can't present the stress result at Top View, which is inconsistent with the Legend. We know the problem is the "reflection", however, we don't know how to switch off the "reflection". Does anyone know how? Thanks. 

How to run simulation using higher number of cores?

The analysis runs and simulation gives errors but it doesn't display any errors. Where will I be able to see these errors? 

I am using Creo Simulate Release 8.0 and Datecode8.0.4.0I am trying to run a static analysis on an assembly and I cannot get it to mesh. I get degenerate boundary face warnings but the markers are off in space and not on the highlighted part. The parts in question are mirrored parts, yet this same warning was not detected on the parent part? I do not understand what the problem is. Please help with:1. What is a degenerate boundary face anyway. I cannot find any explanation on what it is.2. How do you fix it?3. In general Creo is quick to give warnings, but awful at explaining what it means or how to fix it.Here are the errors that I faceddegenerate boundary face detected.

Three weeks ago, I managed to learn and made mecbatch.bat work for me. The mecbatch.bat enabled me to run one week's job load over only one weekend! I was proud to announce the "breakthrough" in productivity improvement. However, I can't make the mecbatch.bat work any more.  What could be the causes? Do you have any hints? What I have noticed before I found out mecbatch.bat couldn't work any more were: 1)My Creo session, which had never been closed (because I disabled auto-update function), was closed for some unknown reason/force; 2) An error message popped up when I open Creo session, saying IFX function can't be loaded. My question is how to make "IFX function can't be loaded" happen? batch run is a basic function. Thanks.

Hi, What I'm trying to do is:use a single dependent node linked to one or more surfaces with a rigid constraint, to enable a set of displacement constraints (or freedoms, or prescribed displacements) at the dependent node, for use with boundary constraints or guided movements in large deformation nonlinear analysis. The specific application is for calculating plastic force-displacement characteristics.the same, but with weighted links, for cases where I don't want to overly constrain components around the constraintAre either of these things possible in a nonlinear large deformation analysis? What are the workarounds I need to do? I'm aware of the workaround using a spring or beam for Creo Simulate's limitation of not being able to apply a constraint to the dependent node of a weighted link as described here: Rigid link versus weighted link - PTC Community  However I've found that if I try to use a beam or a spring in a nonlinear large deformation analysis

I have shown the three results of vibration analyses side by side simultaneously in animation. They are 1-sigma VM stress profiles. How to save these three animations in one {movie, video clip, gif, etc.}? Save As Backup can only save one animation each time. Other than using cellphone camera, has there a new technique developed to record the movements in the whole entire screen without discrimination? Thanks.

Refer to the screenshot below, I just read this Help section: it says at the end that "But when you select Stresses, Rotations, or Reactions you cannot obtain the same results." What does it means? The calculated results can be different by the status of output selections?

Kind of new to the Spring element in CREO Simulate. Is it possible to simply the 5 spring disc washers (see below illustration) with only one spring element? I have simply the rod as a series of beam elements. Thanks for any hints.

Hi,I was wondering if the Creo parametric has a change of the phase in multiphase flow for evaporation and condensation? I see there is evaporation and condensation only in the cavitation model. For example, in the inlet boundary condition there are 3 phases water_vapor(v1)=0.4, N2(v2)=0.35 oxygen(v3)=0.25. After passing from heat exchange with heat source 200 W, what is the volume fraction of water_vapor and water_liquid?I can't see any option for change of the phase and phase interaction because of evaporation and condensation of liquid or gas.Thanks

The rigid body 1 connected by Connection_7 in the assembly cant be properly oriented3. Hello all! I am glad to be a part of the PTC community as I am still new, and this is my first topic, so thank you in advance! I have been using Creo 6 for the last years and recently we updated to Creo 8. However I had to review my installation because I need the CMA module (Creo Mold Analysis) for an assignment. I installed IntelMPI and according to the PTC manual used the cmd panel to install the CMA component hydra_service.exe  However for some reason unknown to me I still cannot see the module through the "Applications" panel. According to the Creo Parametric 8.0.5.0 instructions this is all that should be done, but I am probably still missing a step? Or the model should have a feature so this option is shown? Shouldn't be a problem with the license too. Tried reinstalling the whole package, but the problem still persists. P.S. Didn't find a relevant topic, so I created this one, hope that this is the right place.

Hi, One thing that has annoyed me for many years now is that when I perform a simulation using Creo simulate within Creo, I can open the simulation results window, but I have to close that window in order to continue working in Creo. Is there a specific reason why? Is there maybe a configuration/setting that allows this "function"? Often when for example doing a static load analysis I'd like to keep the Simulation results window open to consult it on changes that I have to make before simulating it again.
