Hi all,I was wondering how could I implement the suggests included in this paper (pp. 28) regarded weighted links.Does anyone have some experience to share? Maybe some asm model?I've tried build the same model of crane that's showed in the article but I just faced a problem: in a pin I have two pieces that share the same axis, so a placed a point on the axis of each component (prt), in the center of thickness, and in Simulate I put a weighted link between this point and the cylindrical surface of each componet. So i put a spring beetwen the points of each part. Here I have the problem for the system tells me that it can't exist a spring of lenght=0 (the points coincide) unless you specify the spring not with two points but with a point and a cys.Have you ever face this problem?ThanksBye

Dear AllUsing Creo Simulate 3.0 for static stress analysis.When I generate results; for certain models; the stresses  are given as e.g. 150 MPa.For other Models (using same analysis and modelling units): 1.50e+02 MPaI would like to change the latter output example to match the former (i.e. 150MPa).However I cannot seem to be able to find a setting? In 'Format Legend Edit, the result is shown as MPa also, but cannot find a way to change the result 'table'  from +00 to (non engineering) units.Please find attached, I want the legend results to appear in MPa (as per edit box), not 'e+02', as in the results window.     The same 'non consistent' output legend occurs for other results, such as displacements.Any ideas?many thanks

I'm experiencing insanely long run times (36+ hours) when trying to run this analysis.  When I change the contacts to infinite friction it runs in about 1.5 hours.  My hunch is that there's a simple check-box I'm missing or there is some other simple reason this is happening.  I need to use finite friction to get realistic results but I can't wait 2 days per run.  Any ideas?

Hi all, I'm talking about meshing.Why would you use thin solids instead of shells?The two types are interchangeable by contextual menu. But I don't understand when it's better to use one or the other.ThanksBye

I've got an assembly. A conveyor belt with baffle.  The parts all move properly, but the base structure keeps twirling around.  I can't get the base part to stay fixed.    I have created this assembly successfully and then unsuccessfully. Can anyone give advise on this?    Basically, how do we get a part to remain stationary while other parts are moving about?  

Hello,   I want to use an equation with cotangent in the cylinder coordinate system. Since cot is not a standard function, I use 1/tan, but I get an error message. Can somebody help me?

I need to apply the loading from an o-ring on a part in a assembly to determine the deflection and stress in the parts due to compressing the o-ring.  The issue I am having is the force exerted by the o-ring on the part is dependent on how much the o-ring gets compressed.  I have a graph of o-ring compression force versus deflection. I am not interested in the analysis of the o-ring, just the mating part.

Dear Simulate Users,   I often detect a problem when I use "contact" interfaces. The surfaces (under the interface) are in slippage with each other. The contact is OK for some timesteps but the surfaces start to overlap after a certain displacement. See the pictures:     In the last step, the full overlapping is one cell thickness which is very important in terms of the investigated process. How can I avoid this error? (I think, the time step size and the mesh size is OK)   Thanks Roland

Good evening,   I am having parts overlapping and interfering once I apply a force to my structure.To run a more realistic simulation I set the default interface to bonded and added fasteners from the refine model tab to simulate screws. I know that once you add a fastener the surfaces are not bonded anymore but what is the good approach to get a realistic simulation that would make the components butt against each other and don't overlap/interfere? Please see my results below. You can see the interference between the bracket and post on the left. Not to mention that the stress is highly suspicious for a 200lbf applied to the end of the bent tube which is 42" away from the upright the bracket sits on. Hello dear ptc members,I am currently studying mechanical engineering and had some troubles by simulating a “reibkupplung”. How shown in the picture 1, I want that position 1 rotates and positions 2 and 3 are connected to 1 by a force F. But every time (at any possible motor), it’s just allowed to define a torque, but not a force. All components are defined with materials and an 3D-contact doesn’t work as well (position 1 and 2 don’t have any contact). See picture 2. Hopefully some of you can help me to find a solution! Thank you very much in advance!

Hi, I'm looking for a direction (solution) how to run Creo Simulation Study on a different machine on the network. I run a test using the ptcdbatch.bat using Standalone and worked , but I would like all these Simulation to be run a different computer. I'm not really familiar with the differences between ptcdbatch.bat and ptcdsm.bat , but I believe for ptcdsm.exe required a different license.   Do you have any solution\article\ Suggested Technics similar with what I'm looking for. The Idea is the Creo Simulation Studies is to be run under a different machine and not wait or affect the user computer calculation based on the Study Calculation.  Thx,  CC

Hello,   Here, some problem on creo simulate. there's any thing displayed on status after running, but complete messages pop up on diagnosis. Problem is, anything computied or anaylized. So, i can't review them.   Several times worked, but now it is not worked in same method.   Is there any bug?Could you provide any solution??Do you help me~~?   Thanks.  

Is it possible to make mechanisms of flexible components like spring ( user created models) or rubber components. I am not proficient in parametric  equations or pro programming . If the animation require them please suggest some reference to learn them.

Hi, In Creo Simulate 3.0 or newer, how does one locate a element when the BDID is know to trouble shoot the following error message?  "151049068   is the DBID of an element for which outward normal could not be computed. dotP = -3.602660e-003"   In prior releases we had Standalone Mechanica Simulate that had the tools to search with in the mesh to locate individual elements when the BDID was known.   Thank you for any help you can provide, Don Anderson

Hi, I am struggling to get a force-displacement graph under increasing force like below; I already read a related topic started by ptc-4273428 in this community, but I'm afraid that I failed to understand it totally. I tried to make it with a simple beam model for test, but I just could get graphs that have X-axis presenting length of the beam (position on the edge of the beam), not increasing force. Are there anyone can show me the way to get the force-displacement graph in another way?   Thanks, HJ  

Hi,I have to resolve force required to rotate platform about the pivot. Platform is around 700×700 mm size, weight is 45kg, one end connected to pivot.distance between Cg and pivot is 600mm. I have to resolve force required to rotate platform at multiple location. What is best method to get force value,? I want max force when it rotate to 90 degree.What type of analysis should I use, either dynamic or static, how to get range of force for 90 degree rotation.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. I am running an analysis on a lifting fixture where I need a single point to lift from for moving the fixture around, not for moving its intended load. I set up an interface for a shackle located directly above the CG, provided by Creo, set up a rigid link between this interface and a point 1" above it and constrained that point in translation and kept all the rotations free. I applied a gravity load, vertically, and the results provided had wild displacements placed the CG no where near being under constraint. Not sure if gravity is working correctly or not in this simulation. I cant figure our why the CG moved so much.   I tried another method where I added a second point 18" above the first one over the interface and put a beam element between the two and fully released the beam at the lower part where the shackle would be and allowed rotation in all axis at the top.
