Hi,Does anyone have any insights into the ability to generate .FO files from the Arbortext generated XSL-FO?I am looking to use Apache FOP, but seem to be getting rather numerous XSL exceptions?Any insights would be welcome.ThanksKevin Sperring

Is there an established limit for the size of a text string written to a channel using the ACL write command? We have encountered a few instances when using the write command where this appears to be true, but I have found no documentation of this limit. To be clear, here is the line of code we are referring to:write($channel, $text_string)Our testing has shown that when $text_string is greater than 4,095 characters in length, the call fails.We are running Arbortext v5.4 on UNIX.Any suggestions would be appreciated.Regards,Tom

HI, I am Rahul KULKARNI, working as a Design Engineer. We work on Technical Illustrations. I am using IsoDraw 7.0 to create illustrations.I would like to know whether there is any Macro exsisting by which we can change case of text. Normally, I copy the text matter into Word and by doing ctrl+shift+A change case and then copy-paste it in IsoDraw.Can somebody help me to create Macro. I am new to this stuff. Hi Deb,I have to say I question the separation of events because all of the non-Arbortext attendees I happened to talk withat recent PTC conferenceswere eager to learn more about Arbortext. Some had licenses they didn't know what to do with. Consequently, I think presentations like "Stop writing documentation and start manufacturing it," "Don't let documentation slow your time to market," and"Everything you always wanted to know about Arbortext but were afraid to ask" would be of interest to many PTC users. And would pay off in sales and services revenue. 🙂Also, I have some questions regarding the Service Exchange event that will include Arbortext: 1. What exactly is "Service Exchange"? Hi All,I finally got travel approval to extend one of my regular trips back to thecentral office in the Bay Area to include the Saturday that TC Camp. I haveheard rumors other folks are coming, too. Changing PE's maxBusyInterval did not resolve the problem. Support is nowrecommending I change Tomcat's connector configuration. We've just installed and begun using Arbortext 6.0 companywide. One user does not have the "Object" menu available. Is there a particular setting that must be adjusted for this?

Hi, Does anyone in this forum have experience using Epic Editor with S1000D schema or DTDs? I've been tasked to do an eval of Epic Editor (rather quickly) but first I have to learn how to use it. We are about to collaborate with a client to update their aviation manuals. They use Arbortext Epic Editor (version unk) and we use Framemaker 7.2. We are in two minds: there is some thought that we should get Epic while there is other thought that we stick with Framemaker, as long as we can get their DTDs. I've gone through the tutorial and looked at the templates that come packaged with Epic. I've tried to plunge straight in and import/use an S1000D DTD but I can't find/don't understand how Epic does it (beside the fact that when I clicked on Import in the menu, I was told I didn't have the licence - there's a way to make money!) I know how to do this in Frame but I want to give Epic a chance. Could someone please advise me or point me in the right direction to where I can get the info. Help

I want my Java plugin to recheck the text after some delay (when there is no typing during 0.6 seconds).I use java.utils.Timer for Arbortext Editor 5.2. I want to start it in the onkeyup event handler. What can serve as onkeyup event?

We are developing some new XUI dialogs that include numerous textbox controls. Some of those textbox controls have restricted lists of valid values that may be entered by the user. Because some of the lists of valid values are extremely long (several hundered values), we are seeking to implement logic that will capture the initial letters typed by the user and then auto-complete the entry when the data typed by the user matches one of the values in the list of valid values. Hi Experts,We are facing check in issue after inserting the image in XML manual. 1) Checked out the document from Repository.2) Inserted the new image with graphic insertion option, accepted the change and saved the document in XML manual. 3) Trying to check in the XML manual back to repository. But check in operation is causing issue " Could not set the file "E:\XXX\XXX\XX" as the content for the document abcd.jpg. : Cannot access the file "E:\XXX\XXX\XX" due to operating system error.

We have been experiencing an issue with the # sign appearing rather then the illustration in Isoview. This happens repeatedly on a daily basis. To correct this problem, the cache must be cleared and Isoview restarted. Has anyone else experienced this issue? It happens in both Windows XP and Windows 7. Does anyone have information on a permanent fix for this?

For those of you following along at home, I hacked the TeX code in the FOSI to move the rotated text over to the right by changing the original code from this:<usetext source="%\hbox{\special{pub:" rotate=" 90}%,10pt,#content,%}%"="></usetext>To this:<usetext source="%\hbox{" }\hbox{=" }\hbox{=" }\hbox{\special{pub:=" rotate=" 90}%,10pt,#content,%}%"="></usetext> (The curly braces in the initial 3 \hbox{ } "commands" need to have a space in them. Empty curly braces won't work.)There is probably a better, more elegant and more "TeX-y" way of doing this, but for now, this works.

I am attempting to use conditional text to display or not display a graphic using key definition files. I have several documents utilizing the <ph> tag for conditional text and a keydef nomenclature file but I would like to find a way to use one of the <ph> tag choices to replace a graphic and not just text. We use ph id=brand, productname, feature, and model for our conditional text choices. We do utilize profiling too but that will not work for me in this situation. Anyone ever try this?
