There are days I just hate working in markup. The past couple of them are tobe included. First testing some changes (migrating a DTD to schema) and spent hoursgetting little things fixed. Now all my graphics have stopped displaying. Just BOOM there one day, gonethe next. I've gone through and verified the ENTITES are still there, tested the filewith the DTD rather than the schema and still no graphics.Other things I've checked are to ensure the 'promptgraphicsbrowser' is seton (a common problem in the past and the default is set to 'on' so itdoesn't even appear in the Epic config file), verified paths, opened thegraphics in an external viewer. Made sure the graphics toggle is set to viewgraphics (but when they don't even show up in print preview that isn't theissue). I have tested this on three different machines using Epic 5.4 and/or Epic6.0. This is the only DOCTYPE that is giving me this problem. So it has tobe something in the way this is called. I DO NOT use the Epic 'custom' fold
Clay, Thanks. I'd never had the PDF open before. With everything else happeningwith this file, I figured it was my 'inverse Midas touch' working full bore.😄Lynn
I have Epic open and also the help center as I try to figure out the why ofmy missing graphics. Like I said last week I believe it has to do with thenotation declarations. So I searched the help center for 'notation' and get over 500 'hits'. Mostof the hits will open the desired 'help topic' in the right pane of the helpcenter. However, some are opening the PDF for the ACL Reference guide. Some examplesare 'notation_exists' and 'notation_source'. I am wondering if it is me, or if it is something in the search function ofthe help center. It is especially confusing because when I go to the ACLreference in the help center and locate any of the functions there, it opensthe desired help window. Steps to duplicate (hopefully a Can Not Duplicate [CND])1. Open Help Center2. Type Notation in the search window3. Find either of the two functions listed above.4. Click and let me know. 😄Thanks. Lynn
Hi everyone,We want to use Arbortext Editor 6.0 with Arbortext CSDBWe install Arbortext Authoring Interface for Arbortext Editor. In Arbortext Editor, we can see CSDB menu in toolbar (Connect to SCDB.jpg) When we click to login in CSDB menu, we gets another error (Error.jpg) ERROR: [A30165] com_call: invalid or undefined interface ID 0 (at line 235 of file "C:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor\application\com.ptc.lbs.authorit\init\AuthorIT.ACL") Function traceback at time of error: #1 AcquredAuthor::Login() at "C:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor\application\com.ptc.lbs.authorit\init\AuthorIT.ACL":235In row 235, you can find: loggedin = com_call(AcquiredAuthorHandle, "Login")Is there anyone facing same issue before and/or have any opinion about solution?Best regards,Artem Baketov
Dan, I am not sure how other Arbortext users feel on the topic. But as amulti-time speaker at the now defunct Arbortext Users Groups. I for one amupset at the SPECIFIC and POINTED omission of Arbortext as a PTC product. If PTC is going to be so focused on ignoring Arbortext. Please do me afavor. REMOVE ME FROM Y OUR LISTS other than Adepters. If you are going to ignore me , don't slap me in the face when you do. Asyou can see I have no qualms about airing my issues PUBLICALLY. Lynn
Hi All,I am new to Windchill. I have installed and setup a library manager on my local machine. I have been able to add the bursting spec to my library in a 'system' folder via Arbortext. But when I tried saving an XML document as a server object I am getting the following error : Unable to create missing folder /Libraries/Legislation - South Africa - National/Acts and Regulations/C/CHILD JUSTICE ACT NO. 75 OF 2008/Sections while creating new object for 75 of 2008 s 1.Has anyone else come across an issues similar to this?Thank youAshona.
Hi,We have recently upgraded Arbortext to version 5.4 and cannot get linking from map files to a Trisoft repository and highlighting text in topics to work.Anyone who knows where to set that?BrJörgen
I am tring to profile a procgroup. My current setup does not let me do this. I have contacted PTC support and they said that I need to add the ability to profile to a procgroup. When I click on the the profiles window and add a profile it says could not apply profile since the affected element does not support a "product" attribute. How do I correct this? Where do I need to look? Is it in stlyer or is that a setting that I need to modify in one of the .pcf files. Thanks
Hi All,This is my markup:<sim></sim>I am only interested in capturing the text "some text here", ie all text that comes before any of the children of <sim>I think <titlepg> is always the first child so I can have it stop thereCan this be done in XPATH?
I see the m020 has been released, I don't see any Reference Document within the zip or online telling what has changed. Usually the documentation shows what the update has changed.TReeves
I have to move the licence server already installed on a Windows server, to another host in a different network zone. I've requested and obtained a new licence file (with the host address of the new server) from PTC support. The thing is, this new server can't access to the Internet from its network zone.My question is, does the licence server deamon require an Internet access to work? Thanks for your help
Fellow Forum Members,I have recorded several Macros. However, I'm not sure how to assign custom keyboard shortcuts to each macro so that they are functional everytime upon Arbortext v5.4 startup. From what I have researched it requires entering special code in the Command Line. I would be very appreciative if someone can post the steps that will show me how to assign keyboard shortcuts to my macros. Please don't post a link to some other site. It's more convenient to have the answer posted in this thread. THank you.
I never thought I'd say this, but I am beginning to be glad that my activework years are getting close to coming to an end. Though I have not been as active in the Adepters group as I once was, Istill use Epic and enjoy reading the posts. I still even retain enoughknowledge to occasionally provide an answer. Other than a 'cash cow' I wonder what else PTC got out of their acquisitionof Arbortext. It is a shame that successful small business cannot compete inthe mega-corporation world, though Arbortext seems to have done a good job. I have a cute cartoon I found somewhere on the web a few years ago that I'dlove to post for PTC management, but I'll refrain as I don't want to offendanyone. I guess PTC stands for "Pretends To Care".
Dear Arbortext community members,I understand that many of you have received emails from the PTC/User Community and PTC/User Technical Committee leadership regarding opportunities to submit topics for PTC Live Global. As you know, this event has grown into a global user event for product development professionals. However, at this time we aren't offering any Arbortext or other service topics at the PTC Live Global event. We continue to investigate new avenues to support that growing user community and appreciate that we have a critical gap in this regard.Following the email threads from adepters regarding this topic, we would like to connect with interested Arbortext users how PTC SLM can help support regional and virtual meetings, hosted by our regional users and partners. In addition to Arbortext, we will be moving forward with this effort for many of the expanded / acquired products within SLM, including Servigsitics and Enigma. If you are interested in helping with this initiative,
Before we upgrades to 10. I was able to remove duplicate jobs from the cad publisher. Has this been changed?
Hi folks--I have a new blog post out on XSLT 2.0. If you are interested in XSLT, but haven't made the jump to 2.0 yet, check out some of the advantages: http://www.terraxml.com/community/blog/bid/324882/Rediscover-the-Magic-of-XSLT.--Clay
Hi,What is the tracking units for letter spacing in arbortext advance publishing
Hello,While trying to compose a document with the APP engine from a Styler stylesheet, we discovered that almost every Gentext values (i.e. prefixes/suffixes) based on XML attribute values were missing from the composed output. This is strange, because everything is working perfectly when we compose the same XML document with the exact same stylesheet using both the FOSI engine and the XSL-FO engine.Even stanger, our footnote marker prefixes, generated from the same XML attribute (i.e. same "label" attribute) as every other problematic prefixes mentioned above, appear correctly and as expected in the resulting PDF, even when we use the APP engine to compose...I don't know what to do at that point: I expected Styler to behave at least in a similar fashion when using the 3 different composition engines with the same stylesheet (unless, of course, trying to use a "language-specific" feature such as "run-in with previous/next" with anything other than the FOSI engine). But this is not by any
Hello all.Can anyone give me a quick answer for this? It is an emergency. We use "Arbortext Editro with Styler" to make data and "Arbortext Content Manager" to manage it.We created a DITA bookmap with a lot of DITA topics hanging from it and put it in ACM.But it is very difficult to look for the data we want in the bookmap by using ACM screen because the "file name" shown in DITAmap (ex: x-wc//8888888888888.xml) and the "name" shown in the browser (this browser means the one you open from Arbortext Editor-> Object). So I think it will be easiler to find a file I want on the browser if the file name in the bookmap and "Name" in the browser are same. Or the value of the element's attribute whose name is same as "Name".Is it possible to show in bookmap view "Name", or any other information, such as an attribute which can show the same letters as "Names" .Your advice is highly appreciated.Thank you very much in advance.Kind regards, tomomi
Hello,I am generating point pages via the provision of wrapping a desired range of elements within a PI ("_touchup") element and firing the point page pageset but I am having difficulties in scoping the variable to which I save the final point page in each range to to populate the LEP.Is this the best method for incorporating point page capability into an application ?
I've been using IsoDraw 3 to 4 yrs now, and I've put up with this problem and feel it is probably just an IsoDraw quirk. It concerns picking and editing element points, it seems depending on the element point position withing all the other elements it can be very difficult to pick on a point and move it or even to pick it at all. If the object is filled it is impossible to pick certain points within the object until you turn the fill off.Anyone else having that problem, or is it just me.Could it be the higher resolutions we are using now, the points seem small on screen and I feel the program will not let me zoom in tight enough a lot of times.ThanksTReeves
Adepters:In our primary publishing environment, we’re using XML source and generating PDFs using PE 5.3 and the direct-to-PDF process. I know exactly how to control the PDF bookmarks using the atidmd namespace and markup in the FOSI and XML source file. Now, I’m needing to generate a PDF from a legacy SGML book and so far I’m able to use the direct-to-PDF process to generate a nice PDF. However, I’m getting the default PDF bookmark setup wherein the bookmark TOC is not displayed at startup and when displayed, everything is expanded. Is it possible to use the atidmd markup in an SGML document sent to PE? I’ve dug into the Arbortext help to no avail. I would think there would need to be an SGML DTD fragment for that markup. Or are there other tricks?Any help or advice is appreciated.Dave HintzSiemens
The Arbortext help says it can be done using commands like magbase 1000 in Arbortext's pubview.cf file or by making a docname.vcf in the doctypes directory of the document you want to customize the window for. I have tried everything I can think of (editing the local Arbortext pubview.cf, editing the PE Server's pubview.cf, making the docname.vcf files everywhere I can think of, all to no avail. Has anyone ever done this and had it work or should I contact PTC support? Thanks for any help anyone can give.
I have a English DITA map that I have had translated into multiple languages. What are some ways in Arbortext and PDMLink that I can associate the translated DITA maps and topics with the English?
Looking for guidance as to what I need to send.ThanksBryon
