Thanks to Pawan, I got my answer before my second email to the list even gotto my inbox: the auto group has to be ungrouped in order to perform areplace on the component.
I just realized that the component in question is auto grouped. Could thishave something to do with the problem? When I invoke the Replace command, the model tree that is brought up will not expand the group to allow me toselect the component itself.
I'm trying to come up with the equations for a variable pitch helix we'reusing for a closed end spring.I think I have everything I need but I'm having a hard time coming up withthe pitch for the middle coils. The end coils have a pitch of the wire dia then I have a transition fromthe closed ends that is variable pitched and about one wire dia long. ThenI have the center coils at a specific pitch. Problem is I'm not sure how Ineed to calculate the center coil pitch.Any ideas?__________Stanton Mapson, Product EngineerParker Hannifin Corp. - Quick Coupling Division252 N. 134th Street (68520)P.O. Okay, with a combination of help from a couple of users and my own pokingaround, I finally got my relation to work. First, I had to go toEdit-->Setup-->Mass Properties-->Generate Report, and change the source to"File"Then, I used the Insert parameter in the relations dialog, and put in"pro_mp_mass" - the (") is no longer necessary at the end. Thanks, everyone!
Okay, I've received two replies already telling me how to have Pro/Ecalculate the mass properties before creating the relation. As I originallywrote below, I've done this several times!
Hi, All:For the first time ever, I need to create a curve of the intersection of twosurfaces, and naturally, I can't get it to work. The menu mapper says to useEdit-->Intersect, but when I select the two surfaces and pull down the Editmenu, Intersect is still grayed out. What am I missing?
Hi All Does anyone have a pro/e model of a 3 bladed airplane propeller thatthey would be willing to share?tiaTed
Is the limit to model accuracy still .0001? I'm on 2001. Thanks.
(Wildfire 2003490)Could someone please explain what a 'null component' is? I was using AutoPlace with a pre-defined Component Interface. It returned no possiblesolutions with 'Max positions' set to 5 or All. When I set it to 0 andpicked a point I was able to 'Apply' and OK. Now the component shows up onthe screen but not in the model tree, and it is selectable but will notdelete. 'Model Info' says: Type - NULL and Status - NULL.Thanks in advance,Joe

Hello,I know this has been posted before, but I can't find it in the archives. Can someone share with me the legacy command sequence mapkey for 2001 that will allow the editing of a single line of text like you could in 2000i2 and before? Thanks,Doug Schaefer
I have a unit that is bolted down into a vehicle. The unit has a mass of45 kilograms and is around 500mm wide x 300mm high x 450mm deep. C G atcentre. The unit is attached to the vehicle by means of 450mm long aluminium anglebrackets running along each side. These brackets are approximately 50 x 60x 4 mm thick. Each angle bracket is attached to the vehicle using 3 offvertical M6 steel bolts. The vehicle is assumed to be very stiff. The unit is subjected to g loads of 7.4g forward, 2.25g sideward and 4.4gupward.A quick calculation, making simple assumptions, and with just the 7.4gforward load gives a shear stress of 7.4 x 9.81 x 45 N / 120 mm^2 = 27.2N/mm^2.When a shell model is constructed and run in Mechanica, with spot weldsrepresenting the bolts, the results give a shear stress in the rear boltsof 600 N/mm^2, or almost 20 times the simple calculated value. On the basis of the analysis results the owner of the vehicle wasinformed that his 6 bolts were inadequate, but he wouldn't buy it.
Original question:ProE Version 2001How can a note be created that attaches to the cross section arrows in a view? The logic is to create a note, no leader, offset, make noteorright click on the note and just add the extra text to the section letter. But it doesn't work that way.The only way I can do it is by creating a free positioned note and relating it to the view.SUMMARY:The few replies that I got pointed to use "Relate Object" under the Tools command.TOOLS, RELATE OBJ, ADD ITEMS this will allow you select your A and than select your Sheet 3. Once this is done try to move your A and notice that the text moves with it.I tried it but it doesn't work on my Pro 2001 product build 2003010.Thanks for your help.Ronnie Shand
Can anyone recommend any Software that would provide a library of StandardElectrical, Pnuematic, and (or) Hydraulic symbols to be used for importwithin RS Designer?
Is there any way to put a 3D model into a power point presentation andhave it automatically spin or manually? Thanks,Marty

I'm having trouble getting the ProInfoWindowDisplay to actually open the window in a location other then {0.0, 0.0}I have the code as shown below...######################ProInfoWindowLocation win_loc = {0.5, 0.9};ProInfoWindowSize win_size = {30, 80};ProInfoWindowDisplay (woutput, &win_loc, &win_size);######################The window displays fine, just only in the {0.0, 0.0} position.Why isn't it moving?Thanks, John
I want a rep of my assy of only the exterior parts, so I create a rep withdefault rule of exclude, go to definition rules, select action as master, select geometric and exterior comps. I hit update and ok. It does what Iexpect. I get a rep of just the exterior parts. I erase not displayed toremove the inactive parts from session. If I regen the assy the inactiveparts are back in session. If I open the assy by rep (w/o anything insession) the entire model is in session. Why do the inactive parts keepcoming back into session? Is there a confing setting? What good is thisrep if I need the whole model in session?
Sim'ers, Having spoken with the customer again today, I have more explicit questions. 1. The customer wants to know how to read in strain gage data, and possibly with length of time in the data samples, and assign each gage location to points on the Pro/ENGINEER model. 2. The customer wants to generate color fringe contour plots of read-in data. 3. He also wants to know how to run the rainflow analysis provided in Fatigue Advisor. I realize that there aren't very many of you out there who have much experience with Fatigue Advisor, so all and any help is greatly appreciated. I will post replies. Thanks to everyone who responded.Original Question:I thought I saw in that in Wildfire 2.0 you could save back to an earlierversion of ProE such as 2001. I assumed this would be under Save a Copy, butI don’t see the option. Anybody out there have any ideas.
