Hi Florin, thanks for developing this gorgeous very helpful tool. I like this one click update with recognition of orientation in 3D. I never found that somewhere else.Best regardsJens
To kick things off, I'm pulling a link from the archives to help you with rendering. I'm seeing some great stuff being rendered however the thing that stands out the most is the flatness in the renderings. By flatness, I refer to the even tone across the image which if you were to open the image in Photoshop and looked at the histogram you'd end up seeing a traditional bell curve:This leads to a very flat, even toned image. What you want, is pizazz or in simple terms contrast. Some artists lean towards the crunchy side where you pull the distribution more to the dark side:While you can approach this in post, it is not nearly as good as rendering with good lighting in mind. So to kick things off, here's a refresher on the old staple 3-point lighting:http://www.3drender.com/light/3point.html
http://www.ptc.com/for/education/schools/curriculum/I found this link and was excited because I'm trying to learn pro/e, but then I realized that its pro/desktop? What's the difference and will these tutorials work for someone learning pro/e even though the interface is a little different. If not, does ptc or anyone else have similar tutorials that I can follow for Pro/e. Thanks
Hi, i have a table with self calculating values (driven by relations), these values have metric units. I have a customer who wants to see both metric & imperial units side by side, (or at least together somehow). I really don't want to have to redesign my table if at all possible, is there a way of adding these additional imperial values in some "fly out" fashion?, probably not, but i thought i would ask the question, you never know.RegardsJohn
Looks like this went out empty the first time. Second try.Hi all,I remember a while ago someone posting something called the commandments of ProE (or something like that), but it had the word commandments in it.It was basically a best practices document which I recall as being pretty good. Each line started with thou shall (or shall not). I only say that in case it rings a bell for anyone.I'm working on a best practices document for users at our company. Although I already have a wealth of info (much from this thread), I was curious as to weather or not anyone remembers that particular document, and if they happen to still have it.Thanks,Stefan
I need to run a test from one PC (A) where another PC (B) is unavailable (down, broken, hosed).Specifically the shares on B.However, B is a server that I cannot actually shut down because of the user impact. Is there something I can do on PC A so that PC B "doesn't exist" or at least that B's shares are unreachable?Again, I cannot change anything on B.I tried adding an entryin into the hosts file, but that didn't work.Windows knows to use the active directory, even when the entry in hosts is different. And I cannot take A off the netwotk, because other PC's need to be accessable form A (during the test) while B is inaccessable.Gerry
Does anyone know the list price of the JT interface?Gerry
Hey guys,Need help with my model http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6682/3dmodel.jpg. Here is a picture of it.The model has been solved successfully with no errors at all, and when I try to solve it again, it comes up with all these errors saying that certain nodes and surfaces have degenerate boundary surfaces. Nothing has been changed, and it still comes up with the errors. I tried googling this problem, but have nothing for it.I need help on this ASAP!CheersJason
In WF5, there's a nice enhanced appearances drop down: Where is it getting those appearances from? It seems that 'MyAppearances' is coming from the path defined by pro_colormap_path aswhen I comment it out, it's black. Where is the library coming from?I'm getting errors about some of the appearances in some of the filesare from WF4 and need to be saved (How? I dunno.), but I can't for thelife of me figure out where they're coming from. I'm assuming thatthere ought to be a new set installed with WF5 and I'd like to refer WF5to those. I'm still running WF4, so I'll need to keep a WF4 compatiblefiles as well, but I've gotta find them first. Thanks, Doug Schaefer
That just forces the new old method of handing problems. Pro/E stoppedfailing every time a reference was missing long ago, sometime aroundWF1, maybe earlier. Since then, if it can find a suitable replacementreference, it will with only a passing mention in the message area. Ifyou pay attention you may see 'original reference not found, usingalternate' or something similar, but they flick by so quickly you maymiss it. With WF5, features that actually fail to regenerate at all can beignored. I can see where this can be useful while working through aproblem, but dangerous if not dealt with properly. Haven't had aproject on Wf5 yet to experience it firsthand. Doug Schaefer
Hello, Im new to building but I have gotten a little ways with the robot I am building, but just noticed that I am building it with the orientation off. I have the back view as the left side of the robot standing up 90 degrees from the floor.Meaning:Front = Right side, Standing up 90 degreesLeft = BottomRight = Top.So on...Is there a way to reorient the robot?
Anyone know how to set a layer status to ISOLATE in WF 4.0 M170 x64?I see HIDE and UNHIDE, but no ISOLATE. I am sure I must be overlooking it. I rarely use this option but now that I want to use it, I can't seem to find it.Thanks!
Hello PTC Development,Is there any forward visibility of the functionality to appear/change in CREO 2.0?Are there any plans to implement finite friction at all?ThanksCharles
Dear Pro/mfg Gurus, In the customize tab I am inserting manually the following command.INSERT/G5 P10000The selected option in cl command is Current. In the customize tab the additional command appears as following:
Can't remember how to do it... seniors' brain fade.Anyone remember how, using WF2?Thanks in advance. Jeff Dayman
Anyone know if there is a way from the ProE File Open menu to see all versions of files in the local cache? If you're not in the context of PDMLink you get this menu:[cid:image003.jpg@01CC6D31.4F7D5260]But when you look at your workspace the All Versions pick is grayed out.The thing is, all the versions are there in the cache. I can copy the lid_* files to another directory and run the rename program on them and then pick an older version of a file. Just had to do this yesterday afternoon. Works well but is a bit painful.David HaighPhone: 925-424-3931Fax: 925-423-7496Lawrence Livermore National Lab7000 East Ave, L-362Livermore, CA 94550

Used to be an option in PTCsetup to direct Pro to look on a network sharefor the Help files.not there now. Can you still do this? Thanks in advance, Gavin B. Rumble, PESolid Engineering336-224-2312

But I'm helpless without Help in the correct language
Hi. Is there a free student download of creo parametric 1.0? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!
We used to use 3d notes display to toggle on the hole notes when convenient. This option seems to have disappeared in Creo parametric 1.0. How do you turn on/off the hole notes?[cid:944273621@29082011-35E4]Regards,Bill ChapmanSencon
CAM Gurus,I was just made aware of this issue by my users. The CUTCOM_REGISTER is not output in the CL data in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 4.0. If you are aware of this issue, how are you working arround it? Currently we are hand editing code. Suggestions? Regards,Michael BraatenSenior PLM/CAX Systems Analyst - Synthes, Inc.
