Creo+ and Creo Parametric

I'm seeking some guidance on how to efficiently rename a new design part in Creo Parametric. Currently, my workflow involves saving the part with a default name initially and then creating a backup with the desired name. This process seems a bit cumbersome, and I'm wondering if there's a more streamlined way to assign a specific name to a part during the initial creation or early in the design process.Could someone please share if there's a direct method to rename a part in Creo without having to save it first with a default name? Any tips or steps for this process would be greatly appreciated, especially if they're applicable to newer versions of Creo. I tried to use 'Save' , then filled the name, but Creo does not allow me to save.

Hello, I have created the master/top level assembly with the required subcomponents/parts. Now i want to create an another sub-assembly which i need to bring in the coordinate system of master assembly subcomponents as external copy geometry/publish copy geometry.  When i try to use copy geometry, creo was not allowing me to select the coordinate systems from the multiple components (allowing to select one component per copy geometry) which means i need to create the multiple copy geometries to bring in individual subcomponent coordinate systems into my sub assembly.  is there any alternate way to collect and bring all the subcomponents coordinate systems into my subassembly using one copy geometry or publish copy geometry ? i don't want to create multiple copy geometries. 

Hi all, I have uploaded the part if anyone wants to have a look. I was wondering if anyone could help or give some ideas on this. The model looks like it is almost correct. I have looked online and it appears there's many discussions about this.  Maybe it is just the pitch; maybe the start point is incorrect; maybe an angled plane needs to be added? Apologies if this isn't a lot of information.Thank you for any input you can give. 

Hi, I am working with Creo Parametric 10.0. I saved a part using Save As->Save a Copy in the same working directory and started editing the duplicated part. But I noticed that all those changed also got transferred to the original part. How can I prevent the editing of the original part in this case? Thanks.    

Hello, I'm working with Creo Parametric 8.0.4.0. I want to rename the name of the generic for a family; for example the generic is washer.prt for a washer family and there is various instances like washer_M8.prt which shows washer_M8<washer>.prt in the model tree. When I rename the generic washer.prt into washerV2.prt, there is a problem when I open the drawing of the instances, indeed Creo cannot retrieve the model (for example after opening washer_M8.drw, Creo can't open it and says that he cannot find washer.prt). One way to solve this would be to first open all the drawing of the instances but when there is a lot of them it's quite long, is there a faster way ? Also, what will happen with assemblies which have one of the instance, will the component come as missing ?

I'm currently exploring the capabilities of Creo and was wondering if it offers a functionality similar to one I've used in SolidWorks. In SolidWorks, there's a feature that's particularly useful when working on complex designs. As you know, when you modify a part repeatedly, it can result in a multitude of features, making the design appear cluttered and complicated. SolidWorks has this great function that allows you to recreate the same part with far fewer features, significantly cleaning up the step-by-step process and making the design more manageable.Does Creo have an equivalent or similar feature? If so, could you please provide some insights into how it works? Is there any possible way to importing Material properties like density, Mass, etc. to creo from external file like Notepad or Excel?  

I am using Creo Parametric Release 8.0 and Datecode8.0.9.0after new installation, logged as Administrator I started Creo Paramertic normally.But whem I am log on as common user, Creo did not start. Only when user is member of Administrators group, Creo starts, otherwise not.

Hello, I am using CREO 7 and currently doing the cam follower mechanism for a cam rod and tappet and was following the tutorial provided PTCU. The tappet is having a flat surface. The mechanism works well for curved follower but not for the flat surface. I gave the necessary parameters that are required to define the mechanism but I am not getting the usual motion that is expected from this mechanism. The tappet sticks to the cam surface and rotates along with the cam rotation, which I don't want (I need the reciprocating motion). What should I do? Are there other parameters need to get the required cam motion?   

Hello, My company has asked the question if Creo 10 & Simulation Live can be run from the AWS App Stream 2.0 service?The idea is to potentially save on purchasing specific high end Computer Hardware and utilize the AWS system that should technically always have the latest GPU's.Does anyone run Creo this way and how have they found it?Thank you for any input or suggestions. 

Hello, I have a question about a startup files. If I would like to setup two startup files for parts and two for assemblies, let's say one for general design and one for tooling, each would have it's own set of parameters, which I would then call into assemblies and then further onto drawings. Now when I copy one from the other, and try to change the parameters on one, they also change on the other, why is that? How could I separate these startparts so they are completely standalone? I am using Creo 9.0.5.0 and am connected to Windchill release 12.1.2.5. For any info, thank you very much.    

Currently, I see no way to have a "snap location' on the top right corner of my drawing that I can "snap" my BOM to every time I add one? I want to be able to input "table from file", hit my mapkey (which has the appropriate xy coordinates), then it places it into the correct location. However I need the table to be placed using the top right corner but all my tables all get placed from the top left corner and there seems to be no way to change that? My best method so far is to place my table, select it, hit my mapkey "F5", then click on my desired corner of the table, then my mapkey places it onto the correct xy coordinates that were included with my mapkey. Not a huge workaround, but you should be able to change where a table gets placed from right?If there's a better method that I'm not finding please share. Thank You!  

When using the "ROUTE CABLES" function in the CABLING module, clicking on a connector no longer routes the wires for that connector -- why? This was a very useful tool and that function is documented by PTC here under "Tips for Routing Cables": About Routing Cables (ptc.com) NOTE: The wires to this connector route fine when wires are searched for and selected in the ROUTE CABLES pop-up menu.

I am trying to wrap my head around how layers are handled when exporting a drawing to a DXF or DWG. I have already discovered the issue where you cannot have the same entity on multiple layers, since the export will only place it on the first alphabetic layer that it appears on. However, I am struggling to get all the exported layers to accurately represent the ones in my Creo Parametric files. In my case, I have a number of sketches for a soft goods flat pattern. Each type of sketch (outlines, folds, seams, etc.) are assigned to their own layer. Those layers are then mapped to identically named layers in the export settings. The results, however, are inconsistent at best. While some of the exported layers do contain the correct items, many of the items simply get placed on a new layer named "0", and cannot be controlled by their original Creo layers. I cannot for the life of me see why this is the case. Does anyone here have experience with DXF/DWG exports, and could offer a

 I am modifying dimension text in Creo 8. Is there a comprehensive list of text modifiers, such as @O for override or  @[{&D203} to display dimension 203 as basic when being referenced inside another dimensions dimension text?            

I am using Creo 10 and had a Windows 10 update that wiped out a number of my settings, one of them being my weld symbols and dialog box in drawing mode. config.win is directing to the correct folder, but nothing is showing up. I have two pictures attached. One is the weld dialog box before the Windows update and the other is after along with my directory setting.

It takes me several attempts at times to right mouse click a balloon leader in order to re-attach or move it. And then at times it comes right up? I've experimented with selecting within different tabs like Annotation, Tools, or layout, as well as selecting closer to the arrow, but it doesn't seem to help? Again, sometimes I have no problem but more often than not I get the text style or convert to draft entities menu instead of edit attachment and arrow style menu that I am looking for. Forgot to mention I am in Creo 9.0.4.0 drawing.

Anyone found a way to change default model tolerances via a mapkey? You have to enter the edit dimension mode to be able to click on and change tolerances in graphics window. The model feature clicked will always be different. Even if I get into edit dimensions mode, a mapkey to just change default tolerances will not work. It won't click on default tolerances in the graphics window. Default tolerances are not listed in the parameters either.

Hello, I have a question while I was making a function related to printing in creo toolkit.We confirmed that the function has a ProPrintPCFOptionsGet that uses the pct file to retrieve the print settings. I think it's a very useful feature, but I thought I had to have a pcf file before I could use it.So I tried to create a function to create a pcf file first, but I couldn't see the proper function, so I had a hard time.Can you recommend a function that makes a pcf file? Or if you know how to make a function without using it, I'd appreciate it if you could let me know.Thank you.

When I activate parts in Creo 10.0.1.0 the transparency hides holes/oulines of other parts. Here is an example. None of the holes are shown, once I active the lower plate. Is there any way to change that?

I am using Creo Parametric 8.0.7.0. When Creo switches from one LAN to another after some gap in between, the license is lost and the popup comes up asking to switch to Offline mode. But the popup windows for the "License lost" and "Switch to offline" are overlapping and can't be moved. This prevents me from clicking on the License lost window and thus, I also can't click on the Offline/Online mode. These popups interfere by displaying on top of all other programs. The only way to remove that popup is to close Creo through Task Manager. How to make the popup windows movable so that I can interact with them?

I noticed that Creo has options for 3D printing, but it seems to prompt me to purchase a specific 3D printer.
