Am I able to install KepserverEX on an Azure server and connect it to a PLC on a network at the factory? I'm using the Modbus TCP/IP Ethernet driver specifically. The PLC will have an internal IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.2), but that is not the public IP address. If Kepware is outside the factory network, then I'll need to use a public IP address when I configure the device, but then I don't know how to direct the connection request to the correct internal IP address. I've seen some questions about using ThingWorx to connect cloud and on-prem systems, but not KepserverEX. Do I need to use ThingWorx to do something like this?
I'm trying to use a Derived tag to compare a string tag to some static strings and return boolean response for if it matches or not. I was hoping the logic operator == would do this like it does for numerical values but expression validation returns "String tag expected". Is there another logic operator to use to compare string values or do I have to do something different? Using KepServerEX 6.14 Thanks!
Does the operation of PLC continue normally?Considering I imported around 1500 or 2000 tags from different PLCs, how is the impact of the network?
Hi, I am having a Manufacturing Suite License and it was working great till some days before when I tried to configure Alarms and Event in Kepware Ex 6.14. Just after trial, I removed the configuration in Alarms and Events tab, but still I am getting the message pop up: One or more feature is time limited... I have disconnected and Re-Initialized, even restored old configuration backup, but still it keeps on Popping up...
How did the Tag Import route work for you @BM_9155657 ? Did you find a better way? Reference topic - https://community.ptc.com/t5/Mfg-Solutions-Apps/How-to-avoid-importing-all-tags-when-creating-a-device-in/m-p/794517#M2464
Hi,We are checking the possibility of using KepserverEX as connector for several factories containing machinery of different OEM's, and several data-protocols (MTConnect is the most common). In testing we came across a potential blocker. We are currently relying on some attributes commonly implemented in condition-type dataitems within MTConnect, namely "nativeCode" and "nativeSeverity", but it doesn't seem like these attributes are being picked up by MTConnect driver on triggered conditions? I am using KEPServerEX v6.15.132.0 in combination with MTConnect driver, and I'm relaying the data through IOT Gateway to an MQTT broker. Is it possible to pick up and relay nativeCode and nativeSeverity attributes somehow and send these along with the value through MQTT?
Good day! I have a use case where I must take some OPC-UA tags and send them to a REST server which is then connected to another OPC-UA server using ThingWorx Kepware Server on both sides. Here is what my configuration looks like:- ThingWorx Kepware Server on Remote PC configured as a REST server. This REST server is bound to one FLOAT type tag on a test OPC-UA server. I can read it and write to it just fine using powershell and my web-browser.- ThingWorx Kepware Server on Local PC configured as a REST client. The REST client points to the REST server configured earlier and reads one FLOAT type tag from the source OPC-UA server (production data). The idea is to publish this OPC tag to the REST server earlier (which should then automatically update a tag on the test OPC-UA server it is bound to). I tried to do this using the Standard Template in the REST client's message body but I keep getting ERROR 500. I can use the Advanced Template like this and it works but the value is
how are you?I want to use simulator ( type of channel) send data to our company app.what should I do at kepserverex?
We have a customer who has a number of RTUs on a GSM network. They current use a proprietary protocol to communicate with the RTUs - This protocol supports retrieving buffered data from the RTU after a communications interruption, but it does not have any security features like encryption or authentication. The RTUs support OPC-UA, so the customer wants to switch to using OPC-UA for the security it brings, but they also want to use the Historical Access part of the OPC-UA specification, to retrieved buffered data. A colleague of mine previously used Kepware as middleware between a DNP3 RTU and a SCADA that used OPC-DA - in this solution Kepware was able to backfill buffered DNP3 data coming from the RTU into the SCADA (over OPC-DA).Could KEPServerEX be used as middleware as follows:RTU ---(OPC-UA Historical Access)---> KEPServerEX ---(OPC-UA Data Access)---> SCADAIn other words, could KEPServer, retieve the buffered data from the RTU (OPC-UA HA) and backfill it into the
I am using the Industrial Connectivity with PLC Rockwell and I have some TAGs type REAL/FLOAT which are working. when I try to add a TAG type String, i got the below error Unable to read tag. Controller tag data type unknown. Tag deactivated. | Tag address = 'HMI.FORMATHND.PRODUCINGNAME', Data type = 0XFCE. can someone help with that?

Does anyone have experience with connecting to Proface HMI GP4000 series?Which driver should I select?
I am just starting out and trying to figure out how to use KEPServerEx 6. I created the channel and the device then opened the Quick Client. There are several folders listed such as DataLogger, System, etc. At the bottom is the Channel.Device._system folder. When I open that, there are about 22 tags. But not what I want. I am looking for temperatures, torques, pressures, etc. How do I get those tags? Thanks.
Hello, I am currently working on my Bachelor's thesis, which focuses on information models for automation with OPC UA. I have a question regarding the integration of information models: Is it possible to incorporate OPC UA Companion Specifications from the OPC Foundation or to include self-modeled information models? Additionally, can the received tags be mapped onto alternative tag names or types derived from an information model? Any insights on this matter would be extremely beneficial for my research.Thank you in advance for your assistance! Best regards,Marco
To log into the OPC UA configurator it is asking for a user name and password. Is this my windows user name and password? I have treid that mutiple times and even created a new user with all the permission avalible with no luck, or what user password is it looking for?
I have a series of Rockwell array tags I can't read from Kepware. I checked the Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Driver manual but that wasn't very helpful.. RSLinx Address: [EW03_DRIVES]EW03_Rack00:I.Slot.[0].Fault Kepware Address: ns=2;s=AB_02.EW03_CLX_DRIVES.Global.EW03_Rack00_I.Slot_x.Slot_00.Fault I got the Kepware address from the Prosys OPC UA utility. I've tried several variations, including dropping .Global and adding .LONG but can't get any results in my data historian, I can see data in the QuickClient. Any help is appreciated. I have nine Iot agents defined in the Kepware server publishing around 95,000 iot items and I am seeing that if the broker goes down. All of the iot agent's do not reconnect. Does anyone know if there is a reconnect setting that can be configured ?. Kepware Server also doesn't log any error on this and doesn't show that iot agent reconnection failure error. Also not all data is being published on iot agents that do reconnect . The QoS setting is set to 0. Kepware Iot agents should try reconnecting to the broker multiple times until the connection is made.
We are trying to achieve communication from Kepware to Kepware, when i am trying to generate tags the following error is being encountered.Failed to Connect to UA server 'opc.tcp://10.XX.XX.12:49320' for browsing.
I am trying to write a value and a timestamp from an OPC UA client to KEPServerEX OPC UA Server. The OPC client is unable to write the value and timestamp it seems. Is there anyway to allow for the OPC UA Client to write a timestamp to KepServers OPC UA Server
Hello All,in KepServerEX6 I created a channel to get data from an SQL database.I created a Device for a table and it was not able to populate the tags automatically, like the previous two tables I created on that channel seemed to do. If I did something differently, I can't figure out what that is. The setup is the same as the other two.The error it returned when finishing the new device was: "Unable to generate a tag database for <MY DEVICE>:Automatic tag generation for device <MY DEVICE>' refused due to active client connections"I read another topic which had the same error. The suggestion was to 'Close all OPC client connections to the device and retry Automatic Tag Generation' Another topic said to create a new channel but I'm hoping to keep this table on the same database channel, to preserve the same organization between SQL and Kepware. My question is, how do I 'Close all OPC client connections to the device and retry Automatic Tag Gen
Manufacturing license - Add a new device. Hello, I have a Kepware KepServerEX 6 running for a customer and want to add a Siemens PLC to the OPC server. The license I have is a manufacturing Suite with Tier: DriverLimit 1. What does this mean? Cannot find any explanation about this anywhere. And on this OPC server I have a memory based connection running. Is it possible to add a new Siemens PLC S7-300 device to the Kepserver without needing to change the license? The manufacturing Suite does have the Siemens drivers included.
After communication fails and got resumes between Kepware and COMPACTLOGIC PLC, but the link is not writing value to the PLC. After disabling and enabling the link tag then it starts writing the value to plc . But it has to happen automatically without reenabling the link tag. Please suggest a solution regarding this asap
Good day. Can someone please assist me, I am trying to connect the codesys control win v3 x64 virtual PLC to the Kepserver OPC but it refuses. I can't browse the PLC tags as well. Even if use an actual PLC (wago PFC100), still it shows that there is no communication between my server and my PLC. Manually adding the tags, still there will be no communication between the server and The PLC. After adding a channel on Kepserver, when I try to use the discover device option to add the device, it's still refusing. When I manually add the device using the device address, still there is no communication. I have attached screenshots of the error messages which I am getting.
Hi, I have installed KepwareEx6 (v6.14) with GE Ethernet Suite option on a VM and set it up to read from an Emerson (old GE) PLC that has a CPE330 CPU. On the same VM that Kepware is installed, I have also installed a GE Historian Collector that is set up to collect data from Kepware using OPC DA and send the data to our native GE Historian. This way I can log data from the PLC to our GE Historian every 100 ms. My PLC scan time, however, is between 4 to 5 ms. So, for every sample logged by the Historian I am missing potentially 24 samples from the PLC. If I know when Kepware reads from the PLC then in the PLC I can use that signal as a trigger to find the Minimum, Maximum and Average of the 25 PLC samples of data that correspond to the one sample that Kepware reads every 100 ms and log these statistical values as a separate tag to get a feel about the missing samples. So, this way for each signal of interest from PLC I will have 4 tags: The instantaneous value of the tag
