Gentlemen,I am relatively new to programming using Pro NC and I am wondering if anyone knows much about the "CONSTANT LOAD" function for rough voluming. Everytime I try to use it in a closed pocket it retracts when it encounters a wall. It creates a 3D curve retract back to the retract plane for the sequence. I have had success going through channels but I had to use a retract plane that was just above my cut plane. It doesn't seem very safe to create a retract plane that is down inside a pocket.I would appreciate any insight or links to tutorials about this tool path. Hello All,We are continuing to work on globalization of CAD methodology. This week's topic of discussion is the display of a BOM on an assembly drawing. Some of our business units have always shown the BOM on the drawing, some have not, and some have done it both ways at some point in time. We are trying to evaluate the pros and cons of showing the BOM on the drawing, and I am hoping the user community can help with any feedback of their experience on how it is done at other companies, and why.This is a subject of debate, because historically we have always fixed our BOM index numbers. Thisrequires some extra work with the drawing BOM, as well as cross-referencing those items numbers to the BOM in our ECOs.This is needed to use BOM balloons effectively, which we plan to continue. The other main issue is whether downstream users (manufacturing, vendors, etc.) need to print a separate BOM fromour ERP system or some other source.Any feedback will help, thanks in advance!Eric HillStaff Eng

Is anyone running creo 2.0 manufacturing we are supposed to update at my company soon. How is compared to the older versions? Are there any new machining features added to creo 2.0? Just switched to Creo1 M050. Running under windchill 9.1 M060. When posting a file using Gpost it is puting the tap file into the workspace instead of the directory specified by pro_mf_cl_dir. hello guysive got to machine a chamfer on the back of a 25mm hole using a 16mm dia dovetail cutter,ive tried using trajectory milling but the cutter just comes down through the component,how do i get the cutter to come down in the centre of the hole then machine round the back of the hole.thanks for any helpThis thread is inactive and closed by the PTC Community Management Team. I currently have 2 operation built. I have 2 seperate workcells with tools. If I edit a tool in one workcell the same tool number in the other workcell changes also. Is there a way to make these independent from each other?Thanks,Rich

Hi I am Engineer working with CREO 2.0, and I have this problem with Roughing Seq when I use STEPDEPTH_ADJUST and ROUGHT_SCALLOP_CONTROL simultaneously, why the depth of the tool is so deep and I dont have any control to change the value.Thanks

My company has just recently started using solid models to create machining programs in GibbsCAM. We are experiencing issues with radii where there are more points in the radius than the standard 3 points (start, midpoint, end). I believe you can do this in pro casting but we don't have that. Does anybody know of a way to shrink an entire model. We have some models that we are having molds made for. Hello,Maybe someone can take the mystery out of this for me. When we changed over to WF5 the program filenow post like ######_xp##.. The _xp## is the post that the ncl code was processed through.The mystery? PTC has no fix for this, post experts tell me they have never seen this yet in any otherclients with WF5. I know it is documented by PTC. We post out a .tap file that we run through a utilityprogram which opens the file in an editor (predator). In Pro-toolmaker, they have the concept of 'sister tools' to denote identical tools than can be swapped in/out after a certain amount of cutting time for die/mold work.Has anyone been able to find a way to at least add M01 (opp stop) in a rougning or finishing sequence after a specific amount of cuttting time or distance in Pro/NC sequences?At least with the M01, I can let the machinist know that the inserts need to be flipped, etc...Is this possible in Vericut? My client designs capital equipment for the semiconductor industry. Experience with product development, design, test and manufacturing using sheet metal, aluminum, cold rolled steel. Design mechanism, fixtures and mechanical components. Interface with customers to take requirements. System design from concept through detailing and release for production. CAD models using ProEngineer and SolidWorks. Generate assembly drawings and Bills of Material from assembly models. Prepare layouts/models based on design specifications and create detailed drawings of parts based on the layout/model. Calculate and verify that the design meets the specifications. Design to cost goals and design for manufacturability and testability. Interact with manufacturing to improve processes. The position starts at $80K, however, my client is willing to go as high as 95K and even high if experience can justify. This position also has a relocation incentive as well being that my client is located in Chandler, AZ.

My Monday moring rant!!I have been playing with the roughing and finishing of pocket with mill windowsin Creo2.0 for a couple of hours today. Not really impressed with the floor finish routine or what is called shallow cut in the finish. When I finish a pocket I finish the floor then the wall with a spring pass or two. With the floor finish it seems you can't have just wall stock when you include finish stock it puts it on the floor as well, Then you have to do an axis Shift to get the floor down to where it should be. I don't care to use axis shift any where because it's too easy to make a mistake by deciding to change the finish stock by making it less then not change the axis shift. You then have a nice deep pocket. Also if you have a pocket with holes the routine with stock seems to try and save time by not machining around or over the holes which is fine if they are large diameter but when they are screw holes in the corners it just makes retracts and plunges all over the place. I

I just wanted to start a discussion to keep the forum talking. But anyway I have been using pro nc for a couple of years now I think it was wildfire 3 when I started. I used to use mastercam before my company switched to pro e. I was just wondering what some of the other users that have used other software thought pro nc matched up to them. I have been to some tool shows and talked to other cam vendors when they ask you what your running and I tell them pro nc there like I am sorry to here that. But I have watched some demo's from competitors and it all seems sugar coated. I will ask them if I can try and run the software and they will not let you.
