Users, Abusers and Downtown Cruisers; I have two questions forthe users that are working with Pro/E and PDMLink. I am wondering if y'all are willing to share how your company handles these two scenarios in PDMLink:Non-Solid CAD Changes After Released: The models and drawing are at a RELEASED state, but there is something that needs to be changed or added in the 3D models. For example, you need to hide a Layer, add a Datum, fix a frozen or failing component's assembly constraint, add a Simp Rep, etc. We do not want to REVISE the model to bump it back to a state where it can be Checked Out, changed and Checked In. We are changing the model only, not the drawing. How are you handling this at your company? We're revisiting a lot of models created pre wildfire, some 2000i, some 2000i2. A lot of the features were created using internaldatum planes. As some of you probably know, these planes do not show up in the model tree and are only visible in the sketchenvironment. Has PTC ever come up with a way to externalize these datums? HI,I used ProE, ProNC for a long period of time this is the only package that I used.I've seen also other demos from other CAD/CAM Packages but in demos everything it nice and appears the best tool.From my experience with Pro/NC now I have some issued that I really donlt know are because I donlt have enough knowkedge or the tool is not really powerfull.One of the biggest problem in CAM that I have is regeneration time that takes special when I'm trying to reorder sequences. Having around 500 sequences into an operation when I try to reorder some sequences take time. Do you have this time of problem?For the moment i'm not using Expert Machinist, or Process Manager functionality to machine our plate(just standard Machining application) Reason being some of the sequences are really complex including analyze feature with parameters used by Post Processor to convert in NCL file in a G code shorter format. I have WF4 installed on W7 and I see slower performance than on my XP machine. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a way to speed it up? Looking for documeted solution for keeping tool head normal to machine surface. The tool path must remain stable as the engineering design component is flexed through multiple sizes and the addition/deletion of features such as scallops.Specifically, the modeled tool head displayed in the attached screen shots "roller" applies laminate banding about the outer workpiece surface. After some months investigating solutions I learned a lot about other CAM systems and how they do things. I also learned some nasty marketing tactics employed by CAx vendors and that sometimes the things are wrapped with a nice cover but in the core they are all alike. That being said, I created a small video showing Creo Elements/Pro 5 profile turning toolpaths applied in a complex groove so that you can get the so called "Trochoidal Turning" effect such as shown in Unigraphics NX and Sandvik video. Hi,I want to put the topic "How to import solidworksfiles into WF5 and Creo 1.0", because its a common problem.As far as i know the Solidworks explorer is needed to be installed on the machine that will open the solidworksfile into WF and Creo.But what version is supported or recomended from PTC and where can that be downloaded? Hi folks,I'm testing WF5 since more than a year ago and so far I've found a bunchof bugs on it... M100/M110 we got fixes for the most critical things wespotted and this week I started testing it again for a rollout we havesoon...Then I focused in testing closely the new FLASH tool functionality and Ifound 3 nasty bugs that really make you think about the QA that is doneat PTC:Problems I found so far:This is old (WF3 at least)#1 - When you set the parameter CUTTING_DIRECTION to REVERSE in aturning sequence, the lead in / lead out moves in the toolpath getsmessed up (Gouging the part) and you have to define them again. As ofWF5 the build cut menu is no longer available in the Tool Motion dialog,then you have to play with the new parameters CUT_ENTRY_EXT andCUT_EXIT_EXT to do the same, which are rendered useless when you reversethe cut. Hello Daniel and Jose,Thanks for taking the time to respond.(Son Nguyen - I'm sorry we derailed your request without helping...)I have followed some of Daniel's public commentary earlier this year. I have obviously felt similar frustrations, but have not been as publicly vocal. This public discussion can be good because it shows that there is some life in the user group and PTC is listening. It would be great if other users were drawn in and this forum became more active.We now have multiple seats of Pro/NC, MasterCAM, and PartMaker, but all of our company's engineering work is based in Pro/E. I would love to be 100% Pro/NC, but PTC has not been keeping up with the others in toolpath development, support for mill/turns, Swiss lathes, etc.I am more optimistic after reading Jose's comments. It's good to learn that Jose's group is continuing to develop Pro/NC. However, it will be quite a while before we move to Creo, so we will probably have to get further involved with the other CAM pack

A little background: we utilize UDFs and a drawing template to automatically generate a point cloud fromour CAD models,which is then utilized by manufacturing to determine the angle and trajectoryfor automated grinders. I've encountered a bit of a problem these days. I had to make a piece which had a few modifications as opposed to the original piece. I already had a program so I decided to use that program and insert the piece with modifications into the original program. I did that so I could win some time instead of using templates. What I did not do was to pay attention to the sequence tree when posprocessing. I had mistakenly chose sequences from the original program and postprocessed those sequences in a set of sequences for the piece with modifications. Of course, the result was not so good. My question is if there is a way to choose the sequences that form the sets from the current operation. I only need to see on what operation I am and from there to form a set. Just like when postprocessing single NC sequences. By the way, strangely, I postprocessed different sequences from different operations. Which for me doesn't really make sense. Why would anyone do that?

Wanted to check and see if anyone is using the NC Sheet Metal package to program for punching cells? If so, did you change to Pro/NC Sheet Metal from another software and why? Also, anyone have information regarding programming a right-angle shear for the post processor. I would like to switch my milling center to metric but all of the programs we have created and use over the last 10 years are in inch. Is there a easy change that i can use to output older inch based programs to metric?
