Good morning,I am slowly getting into more mold designs and realize that most of mycalculations for runners and gating size is passed down to me from pastexperience from more experience mold designers. Are there formulas that Ican use to figure out runners and gate size for parts that are easy tofigure? Or of any books that I can get that will help explain this moreeasily? Hello all,PTC provides the source code for a utility called AutoAxis, but not the final compiled application that someone can actually use. This utility is extremely helpful when you are using the PRO/NC module. We are in the process of looking at machine simulators to check our G code. We got demos from Vericut and NC Simul. I know Vericut pretty well, but I don't know NC Simul. I'm new in this forum (I'm downloading PE3), and hear that there is no output possible from PE3 to any kind of CNC machine.That means:there is not direct control over CNC machines, orthere is no way to create any kind of file that I could send to a 3rd. party so he converts to his CNC machine and cut it for me? We are trying to use Mechanica sensitivity analysis to vary the wall thickness of a casting component. The problem we have is the casting was created in two steps, a cast model, then a seperate external merge model to add the machining features. The shell thickness for the casting is defined in the first, cast model. We've not been able to have Mechanica change the parameter defining the shell in the cast model when we have the machined model active. It seems like Mechanica can change the parameter, but the thickness never actually regenerates.So:1) Is there a way to "cut and paste" or somehow get all the machining features into the base casting model so the external merge isn't needed? That way, we could just do the sensitivty study on the cast version, but it would have all the machining in it.2) If that isn't possible, any ideas as to how to force Mechanica sensitivity to change the cast thickness even when the machined version is what is being analyzed?All input is welcome and appr

I am a new user of CoCreate 3.0. I am attempting to turn a profile, but can't find the proper icons. To set the stage, I have started a new document, and drawn a simple rectangle on the existing plane.To turn a profile, the help file says to;1. Click Modify 3D [OK I can find this]2. In the Machine task panel list, select Classic Machine. [This is where I get stuck, and I cannot find such a task panel.]I have attached a screen shot of this point in the process. Hi all,I am experiencing big delays when I am trying to play the toolpath on the screen, for holemaking sequences. The delay can be up to two minutes, for a holemaking sequence with just 20 holes! Recently upgraded to WF-5 and have had problems with NC outputting thousands of points rather than a circle statement when cutting arcs. I have tried adjusting tolerances but it only changes the number of points. Anybody out there run into this or have a fix. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. We noticed that the thread size in the "hole" feature only goes up to 1-1/4 - 7 UNC. I am speculating but I imagine that is driven by a table and additional thread sizes can be added? I looked in the config.pro but didn't find anything regarding a thread table. Anyone have a table up to say 2-1/2" thread? And how to designated Pro to read it?TIA. What I found on their site for download are individual 3D model for every size.What I need is a generic part with all the sizes supported by that product. I have been using pro manufacturing for many years. I have been working in the hydraulics industry. I do a lot of deep hole drilling, thread milling and pretty basic milling. I want to get more into advanced milling so I can work on molds inserts etc for our foundry. Thanks for all the feedback. Here are the responses.Response 1We had a training / information meeting 1½ years ago for Apriori at our sister division. It demonstrated a remarkable potential for showing areas of a component that could be reduced and still maintain strength. We chose not to get it at our facility as we were already using Ansys and taking as much cost and material out of our parts. Our sister division had not been as diligent so the Apriori software showed them substantial areas of improvement and cost outs. I have been at the company that I am working for 15+ years. I have been a machinist for over 30 years. I have been working in engineering for 10 years. I am self taught on pro engineer/ manufacturing. Our company is downsizing. I am getting moved back to the cnc department next week. I am stuck on wf2.0 and now even working with 2.0 is in question. I have no problem working some of the time on machines but I would like to stay on pro engineer as well. I have a casting model that I merged into a new model to create a machined model. Is there a way to set up the &ptc_material_name parameter in the machined modelto pull the casting part number and set that as the material?In cast model I have a &ptc_material_name parameter to enter in what type of material the casting is going to be. In my drawing format I have a material line which uses the &ptc_material_name parameter to automatically fill that in. This works for cast parts, but in the machined drawings, I manually enter in the casting part number. Hello, I have a mold that I created in ProE (not using the manufacturing "mold cavity" option, this is just a PART file. This mold is used to create a rubber model that looks like two hills with a valley in between on top of an elliptical disk (problem uploading image) My issue is that I want to find the exact equation of the surface of the model. Note: this means finding the equation of the indented surface of the "mold". Is there a way that this can be done in ProE? Or maybe, is there a way to extract the equation of a datum curve given that it wasn't created with an imported equation? Any help would be great. (If ProE knows the location of the contours, created by cross-sections, doesn't it know the location of the surface? I've tried picking plenty of points along the contours (datum curves) and fitting a polynomial through them (for each contour) but this is still not the exact equation of the contours. Hi all.I have tried to use Trajectory mill 3axes with cutcom on. I have defined 3D curve in PRO/tabler=3.5thetha= -10*t * 360 z = -5*t -2It makes spiral curve. I need to generate endmill moe along spiral with cutcom ON (41/42). But proe wrote this error message:Output on profile failed - tool path with CUTCOM command is not planar.
