The belt pulls together two or three circles with D1, D2 and D3. What is the length L of the belt? If D1=D2=D3 L=D*(3+pi) See also https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Mathcad/Malfatti-circles/m-p/687281

Good Evening All, I am currently in the process of putting together a simply supported beam bending sheet and I was wondering if anyone had any tips of how I can proceed. As you can see from the attached sheet so far I have got the following: 1.) enter section ID to obtain the properties.2.) enter point loads and location in the vectors3.)enter UDLs and start / end points in the vectors.4.)Calculate the reaction forces. I am now stuck when it comes to the shear force as a function of x. ideally I would want V(x) so i can integrate for the bending moment. From the examples I have seen online alot of the times the shear force is input as a piecewise function (IF x<a... and so on). Is there anyway so I can get a general expression for shear force that will work no matter what the point loads are / shear forces are and so I don't have to type it out fully each time. Also as this sheet may be used by others I don't want them to have to type in the equations inca
Hi folks, I'm a beginner in Mathcad. I have a problem but unfortunately I have no idea how to solve it. Can anyone help me? Kind regards,Arvid
Hi, my mathcad file got corrupted when the program crashed while I was saving the document. I was wondering if anyone might know how to fix it. The file is attached. All help is very much appreciated.
Hi guys i have a tabulated problem of which I am trying to multiply out various terms There is a column headed mp. as each term is multiplied out there becomes a point where this figure becomes a minus value. At this point i need the equation to change. I have tried an IF statement however because i am working within a table format it will not let me achieve this function. I was wondering has anyone come across this or should i remove the table element and do this long hand? Sheet attached Thanks 🙂
Hi communityI calculate a matrix of numbers, sometimes in the matrix there are complexes.how can i find them, because my matrix have lot of line. Thanks
Team, I compared a symbolic series expansion with Mathcad Prime to Mathcad 15. Mathcad Prime returned a wrong answer. Please clarify and advise. Thanks,Dr. Atlas
Hello all, I am currently trying to create a worksheet for calculating beam deflection. I have a template I am using as a guide and in the template sheet the if statement is of the following form: I am trying to write this into my program however when I insert an if statement I get the following issue: As you can see the if statement takes up multiple lines. How do I get the if statement to become the more compact form? Thanks,Callum
Trying to create a matrix by programming, where the diagonal should be 1 and 0 otherwise. I even get the same result if I replace if-else to define every element 1. This does not make any sense to me. I assume there is an easy solution, but I was unable to find a solution by searching.
Hi community in this simple example,is shown how Mathcad help me to find a singularity value (det J = 0) thanks
It seems the Replace functionality was improved in Prime 6 to allow you to individually replace in the main text of a variable vs the subscript. That's great...I guess. However, it seems in the process they changed the functionality of Find. Let's say I have a variable like this: In Prime 5 I was able to find this whole variable by entering the following into the Find box. In Prime 6 that same search finds nothing. I can individually find "text" OR "sub" but I can't find the whole word. Find doesn't seem to want to cross the boundary between main text and a subscript. This becomes a huge pain when I want to search for a variable like this: I can search for "R" OR I can search for "10" both of which are likely used countless places in my sheet. Is there a trick that I don't know to do a Find that includes both the main text and the subscript? Thanks, Jon
How can I force prime to reserve Secant (inverse of cosine) in the solution? In general, how to implore a particular format to appear in the solution?
Hello, Please see the attached problem for a piping system. Essentially I have the flow rates in and the pipe length and diameters and I am trying to solve for the flow rate in each leg of the piping system. This is example two in the attached Mathcad sheet. I will attach the tutorial below (from older Mathcad version). The problem I am having is that the results produced by Mathcad from the solve block is not satisfying the equations for flow rate (see the last page on my attached worksheet). I am fairly sure the equation have been set up correctly so I don't see why Mathcad is accepting the answers I get as a solution when they are so far off from the constraints. I have tried the following so far:1. When using the find solver I get the error message that TOL/CTOL cannot converge. After playing with the tolerance I can get a solution using this method if CTOL 10^-2. I was thinking this may be why the constraint criteria is not met. 2. I have also
Hello all, Relatively new here and no experience using mathcad prime however I was looking for some guidance. I am working through a tutorial and trying to solve the following problem for lambda. I am not sure where I am going wrong with using the solve (lambda) symbolic. From the looks of it possibly something to do with the pressures? In the tutorial the solve symbolic yields the following: Any help would be appreciated.Callum

Dear PTC community, Problem description: The following picture shows the input data for my calculation, where I need to enter repetitively the property of each corresponding layer for calculation. Generally, the outer and inner layers are the same material, what repetitively change is the middle layers. Goal: To simplify my input as it is repetitive values. Is there any way that I can simplify or reduce the amount of input with programming? If so, can anyone give me an idea of how to start, or which function to apply? Many thanks for your help. Please find the attached Mathcad Prime 6 file for the above question.
Hi all, is it possible to combine the two graphs and formulas I have set up,to get the two graphs they produce shown in one?I don´t know how to solve it as the two formulas have two different boundary conditions. RegardsSeb
Hi, I am a student that is new to Mathcad and am having a lot of trouble getting a solve block to calculate the value of 2 separate variables with an indexed input. If anyone has any knowledge on how to get mathcad to do this, it would be very appreciated. Thanks
Hello! I'm new to MathCad and I'm having trouble solving a kinetics and reactor calculus problem.I have to find the temperature at which the concentration of B reaches its maximum value. I did this by manually guessing values, but I was wondering if it's possible to do it in an easier way.The constants k depend on the temperature. The concentration of A depends on the constants k. And finally, the concentration of B depends on the constants k and the concentration of A. The temperature I found was 306K. Would it be possible to synthesize all these calculations in a solve block? The following is the resolution and the way I was trying.

I am having difficulty figuring out what is wrong with my worksheet. This worksheet is a design calculation of spur gear. My problem is that addendum, dedendum, and clearance units are in 1/in, which is wrong. Why is it that the units are in reciprocal form? Is there any solution for this?. The goal is that the addendum, dedendum, and clearance must be in plain mm or in. Hoping someone can help me. Thanks
Windows 11 will be released as early as next month. Has anyone done some testing of the existing versions of Mathcad (i.e. MC15, Prime 3-7) to identify issues under Win 11. Personally, I have a perpetual academic license for MC Prime 3.1, and as a retiree, I am loathe buy a subscription version. Furthermore, I have had to reinstall MC Prime 3.1 several times and it has never been an easy task. Unless I am reasonably certain that an upgrade to Win 11 will not be an issue for Mathcad Prime 3.1, I will simply stay with Win10.
